The food was wonderful. The location was perfect for walking as you could walk up to the hills from the back of the hotel. A really good selection of wines and spirits at the bar. The view from the terrace and dining room was amazing.

We particularly loved the views and sitting on the terrace. Good location to visit the surrounding countryside and towns. Pleasant hotel, friendly staff and good to stay in a family run hotel. Would have liked a variety of a few more vegetables with the evening meals.

Excellent hotel stay and great value for the money! Very clean rooms, well insulated (and keep the heat in the room, without having to constantly run the radiator on cold nights), and the Service Staff was very accomodating... Cannot fault it one bit! We loved the fact that the breakfast meal prices were all-inclusive with the price we paid for our room (no hidden charges and a very good deal), so we knew what we were paying ahead of time!! We cannot fault this place at all, and we have enjoyed our stay... The view on the hillside was to die for, so please make sure you bring your camera, we took some outstanding photos of the nature and wildlife, and they have 'nature trails' to climb the hilltop and enjoy the outdoors..... Very Relaxing, would recommend to a friend or family member!!! :) The breakfast the first day was not cooked very well, but then got better-and- better after that... I think that's because they have different cooks on different days of the week, but other than that, I cannot fault their food... We had plenty! :))

Attention to detail in the extras for the room - 10/10 for Earl Grey tea bags! Goods sized room, nice soft furnishings Pleasant restaurant staff but not enough of them Uneven beds - pushed together to make a double Waiting 25 minutes for a menu and 40 minutes for a wine list at dinner after being told they could not do an 8pm table so we had to have a 7:30 table My wife being ignored for 15 minutes at breakfast One mushroom!! on a breakfast plate

I have used cottage in the woods for 40 (forty) years. I have never been disappointed. The room upgrade on arrival at no extra cost was unexpected. Room 28 was excellent - but I have used several different rooms over the years and they have all been good. The menu was superb; the staff were polite, helpful and very efficient. Car parking was easy, safe and very close. Everything was absolutely excellent.

Quaintness and situation. It is certainly unique. Staff were very good. I was disappointed with the "superior double room", especially considering the price. At the very least it should have had a bath.

very good food and excellent room with the 30 mile views stretched out before us all in keeping with the hotel's own words. good to see attention to detail and the communication with guests honest and direct . Steep lanes are common in the area and a visit when there is no snow or ice is sensible timing.

The location is stunning, with views over the Severn valley. The hotel has gone to a lot of trouble to provide lots of thoughtful extras in the rooms, including an emergency kit and a pair of binoculars. The patio area outside provides a great place to relax with a coffee or a drink, admiring the view. The menu was a bit fancy for me - when you have to ask for an explanation of the menu item, you can't help feeling that the chef is trying to impress us with how clever he is, rather than make guests feel comfortable. In common with many hotels in the country, if you want to go out to eat, you gave to drive, so the hotel has a bit of a captive market. I would have liked simpler and cheaper options, and bar meals or room service would have been nice rather than being forced into the restaurant (and the menu doesn't change daily). Having said all that, the food was excellent.
