Score from 206 reviews Fabulous
Very clean and fresh, nice décor and modern facilities in an old and characterful building. Fabulous food.
Nothing really, although the restaurant staff were slightly impatient with the older/ deafer guests and seemed to always be under pressure. They obviously work very hard and long hours though, so perhaps that is the real problem?
Location, location, location! Room was exactly what we wanted.
Misinformed about inclusion of breakfast in rate.
The hotel staff was gracious and helpful. Canterbury is a lively and bustling city; we enjoyed the crowds, but we were delighted to step into the oasis of calm and comfort that was the Abode hotel. We were very surprised by the level of comfort and luxury at the price.
The location was perfect in the middle of pedistrian zone and it's easy to walk to nearby shops , cafes and even to the west rail station. Overall the hotel is clean.
Reception staff wasn't that friendly (not all of them some were friendly). The hotel needs more ventilation.
Location, proximity to sights, restaurant, wonderful front office staff.
On site parking arrangements.
Stark room - not that 'warm' - needed an armchair. No fridge.
Nice rooms (even the cheapest ones), friendly staff, nice bar, quiet rooms (at least in the back)
somewhat expensive breakfast
Great location, central to Canterbury's attractions. Our room was very comfortable and we were able to take advantage of a great room rate. Brilliant!
Great hotel. Probably the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. We stayed for our first wedding anniversary and the hotel arranged a balloon and lovely post card wishing us a happy anniversary. Service was fab and rooms lovely. Would highly recommend
The workers on reception were great along with the bar staff.
The bed in the room was a double and so seemed small.
1. Location 2. Value for money 3. Cleanliness 4. Ambience
1. A broken, uncomfortable chair in the room. Why do double rooms in mid-price English hotels so seldom have two comfortable armchairs? 2. Setting of lunch tables on either side of us while we and another couple were still having breakfast at 9.20 a.m.
Water in room should be available to drink
Smart rooms Location Staff very helpful
We could hear noise from other rooms
the location, staff, facilities, friendliness, fair treatment
Maintenance, house keeping could be improved.
excellent hotel. great evening meal breakfast very good - great full English. comfortable room, quiet and look forward to return visit
Everything apart from the below.
Bed was small & to soft.
Easy access to the town Rooms were well appointed and equipped Breakfast was excellent Staff were always friendly and helpful
Shame the windows didn't open so had to rely on air conditioning, not a massive issue - but it would have been to get some fresh air
Bed was lovely and big .large rooms and its right in middle of town worth the money
Very hot in rooms air con didnt work to well
Location. Fantastic room. Thanks for the upgrade.
the staff were excellent polite helpful and location of hotel was good straight onto the busy streets.
our room 107 was not ready when we arrived so was given room 131.we had paid for a superior room not sure it was.!!..the chairs in room were not comfortable enough to relax in and the safe was locate at floor level..not good for an O.A.P or senior person.plus the woman in room 130 would cough all night so had a restless sleep.could you tell me if room 131 is a superior room or standard please ....
Excellent facilities and staff!
Wi-fi a bit dodgy!
no slippers in hotel and everything looks very old. Staff not too friendly. very disappointed
Very good location
Room was next to air conditioning unit and quite noisy with no outlook
The location is right in the pedestrianised high street and very close to the cathedral. Hotel and rooms very clean but bedroom smelt a bit musty/damp
Beds were super soft and the pillows were uncomfortable.
The food and service at the associated tavern next door was excellent
When I initially approached an almost empty restaurant I was told by a very snotty maitre dee that he would see if he could squeeze me in but that perhaps I should go to the tavern as it was more appropriate as the restaurant was fine dining. The implication was rather gauling especially as I eat quite regularly at Michael Caine's Michelin 2 star flagship restaurant at Gidleigh Park.
