County Hotel  

Lovely staff and great breakfast

Room and bathroom was not properly clean and unfortunately the bed was appallingly uncomfortable, sloping down at the head end.

Convenient location. Substantial, tasty breakfast.

The hotel is in need of money spending on it to upgrade it from appearing to be a little more than a Travelodge.The windows could not be opened easily as they required some maintenance. The car park area and nearby staff quarters were shabby and very run down, There were some broken windows and it was unnerving to leave our vehicles parked there.On the night we stayed there were some disruptive guests who partied from 3am till checkout at 11am. The night porter could not be contacted as the battery had run down on his portable phone!!! Not acceptable. There was no financial recompense for our disturbed night; merely an apology.

The hotel is very conveniently placed for the station (with frequent trains to London) and the bus station and the town centre. Our room was clean and comfortable.

We had phoned in advance to ask whether it might be possible to make use of a room in which to change - knowing that we would arrive before check-in time at about mid-day and then have to leave by 1 p.m. for a funeral. One couldn't be promised and, on arrival, it was confirmed that we would have to change in the toilets. It does seem a shame that some simple facility couldn't have been made available - especially as we then discovered that the hotel was being paid to host a post-funeral buffet.

I can not fault the staff they were excellent, an efficient and friendly service throughout our stay. Beakfast was good The dinningroom bright and inviting The was room large

Wi-fi did not work at all in the room. The shower would not get hot No safe in the room The main course in the restaurant was poor - we did not pay for this

I thought the County Hotel have done an excellent job in bringing an old building up to date - the room I was in was lovely

The friendliness and helpfulness of the reception staff in particular, and the general helpfulness of the restaurant staff, particularly as I had to leave the hotel earlier than expected and they arranged for me to still have my breakfast before I left.

A nice comfortable hotel. Nice and clean and easy access to everywhere. Only a 5 minute walk from Chelmford station.

Orla was very welcoming at reception both for checking in and out, without the process taking too long. Encoutered 3 staff in total of my stay and all were very polite and professional. 3 minute walk to the train station Great last minute booking.com booking @£65 for a single room

Room 62 is on the small side, however comfortable for a one night stay parts of the room starting to show signs of wear and tear. Car park require better sign posting and markings.

1. Room was freezing when we first arrived, thankfully there was a heater we could plug in. 2. We could not get into the restaurant to eat until 2030hrs, because there was a function on.

Good central location, excellent breakfast. Value for money.

Bar could do with re vamp, clearer car parking signs.

Breakfast was superb!

It was clean and safe and OK. Staff were fine and parking was good.

It seemed overpriced for what it was - I stay in a lot of hotels on business and this just seemed to be Ok but not equal to the price. I will try somewhere else next time.
