Very basic hotel with very basic rooms. Sunday Breakfast finishes at 9.00 am and check out is early too. No good at all for a relaxing week- end break.Unless you are tradesperson in need of a low budget stay-over aviod this one.

I thought it was value for money. The food was fine, the room was very clean indeed. The reception staff were awful, unfreindly and rude

Everything, really. The beds were wonderfully comfortable, there was plenty of hot water, rooms were warm (slight exception being one of the rooms we were booked in needed its radiator bleeding so was not working properly - we should have reported this early on so that it could have been rectified). The rates are very reasonable and the situation good. We did find parking across the road but in view of the fact that ours was the only car in that carpark all night it seemed very mean for the Riverside Hotel to have identified every other spot as being for their use only. The Kendal Town Council needs to review this situation, as it looks like greed and bloody-mindedness on the part of the Riverside Hotel who have their own underground parking anyway.

hotel very delapadated, our room was small, and needed redecorating, due to a bad paint job the paper on the walls was begining to peel off. We had not booked for breakfast on the morning of our departure so asked in the dining room if we could have breakfast, the waiter was very nice!!!!! repeating "off course you can" to my every request, I asked for coffee, but received no milk, so had to ask for it, I ordered toast but received no butter, so I had had to ask for it, you get the drift, very annoying. When we checked out my husband checked the room and found a pile of ladies undergarments in the bedside cabinet cupboard, so much for housekeeping. Not a very nice hotel, it seems to rely on the coach trade, to make its business, if you want cheap accomodation with no frills the use the county.

The staf were great - particularly the breakfast staff. The Hotel was in a good location for where we needed to be, and the room was clean. The decor is a bit dated and could do with a coat of paint to freshen it all up. TV was small, fortunately we didn't get chance to try and watch it to much. On a longer stay it would have been disappointing.

Our room was clean and warm. We liked the furniture and the atmosphere. Breakfast was good and enough for us. Location was good, just a couple minutes walking to the city centre. The best of this hotel is the staff, very friendly and helpful.

Ideal for our trip to the theatre. Friendly helpful staff. Clean well presented. Excellent value for money. Easy to book online. I'm disabled so parking was a bit of an issue. Staff helped sort me a convenient space outside with bollards.

Very convenient for an overnight stay en route to Scotland. Price and everything was brilliant. Checking in would have been easier if we had been able to park right outside the hotel rather than on the edge of the roundabout. 4 cars took up the available space outside the hotel and only one seemed to be checking in. Hotel staff proved very helpful re the nearby car parking arrangements.

Friendliness of the staff. Excellent value for money. Felt nice and comfortable and relaxed. Nice unpretentious place. Absolutely no problems. Would recommend to someone who is travelling on a budget. The parking is limited, but that's only a critisicm of Kendal in general! (The man was very helpful in letting us park directly in front of the hotel)

The service from the staff was excellent, we were able to keep our room past usual check-out times (although this was only as there was NO bookings for the following evening!). The breakfast wasn't the best and seemed to be stuck in the past in terms of layout and options. Decor of the room requires an update; it appears that the (lack of) staff are fighting a losing battle (not their own fault) to run everything smoothly.
