Pleasant helpful staff, location of hotel, ease of booking room on line, could not fault any part of our stay from actually booking our room to checking out after a nice breakfast, we would definitely use the hotel again and would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel to friends and family.
Couldn't find anything not to like
Budget hotel. parking, close to station and town attractions
Beds need replacement, Double glazing would help for the noise from the nightclub across the street
saff were excellent
noisey plumbing flow pump in toilet ran non stop ,wifi poor kept dropping out. drunks rampaging up and down outside room, shower fell to bits, room 106
Very old fashioned was given a disabled room no shower
Couldn't have been more central.
The staff were helpful before and during our stay. The hotel was clean, the facilities good and the room was a good size with plenty of towels, refreshments and toiletries. We stayed at the beginning of the week and didn't have any problem with noise but knowing the area well weekend noise is different.
Some of the decor was dated and in need of refurbishment especially the stair carpet but it didn't affect the running of the hotel and would have no hesitation to stay again.
The locaiton was excellent and the parking was free
The hotel was very noisey...the rooms were very hot and you could not open the windows safely. The flooring was threadbare
The only thing in this hotel's favour was the staff - the guys on the desk were friendly & helpful & tried to find me a quieter room for my second night.
At first sight, the hotel looked awful from the street and not at all welcoming. My room was very small. Sleeping was hopeless. The noise from Botchergate, which lasted well past 4 in the morning, was truly dreadful - and the room was so hot I had to have the window open. It was like an 18 to 30 holiday in the road outside my window! The shower was simply disgusting - the room wasn't exactly dirty and the bathroom had been sort-of cleaned, but broken shower trays and thick black mold are not nice. I didn't even want to close the shower door, the seals were black with grunge. Also the sink was in the room itself. I know it was a cheap deal but I didn't expect it to be so bad. The hotel is well past its original glory, with worn carpets and a shabby feeling which definitely isn't chic. I think if you're heading to the beautiful city of Carlisle for the nightlife, The County is perfectly situated...but other than that, if you like to sleep, book elsewhere. I shall be returning to Carlisle but will book well away from Botchergate!
Needs Refurb, No Remote for TV in Room, Sink Taps broken, Old furnishing, TV was from the 90s.
I was given Huge double room with king size bed, unfortunately I only sleep on my own, the room is enough for ten people's. lol.
there are some paint on the bathroom wall not been clean properly after refurbishment.
location staff clean
rooms very basic needs a bit of a refurb
the location was really good
the hotel looked ok in the communal areas but room we were given could do with upgrading
Friendly staff central location
Creaky floors and road noise
Staff were helpful and friendly beds were clean
Rooms were dated and dirty heating was not adjustable and windows did not open sound proofing awful so room at front of property was very noisy until after 4 am
The shower had no pressure. All carpets had rips and stains in. Woke up with bites on shoulder. Needs a deep clean. Windows wouldn't open. Reduction in price.
The bed was very comfortable, the location was also very good.
The bedroom and bathroom were quite dingy and dated. The floorboards beneath your feet and above your head were very creaky and noisy, they seemed so thin even normal chatting could be heard. Window catches were broken.
Central to Chester. Breakfast There is quite a history behind this place. Clean Unique bar room decor from times past.
A bit drab. Place just needs a bit of brightening up. Curtains dirty. Staff smoking under our window.
staff courteous and helpful.
Noisy location. main street had pubs/clubs and noise/revelery was still going on after 4 am, so poor night's sleep Beds not comfortable, which didn't help.
Overall a miserable experience. Directions to hotel were useless as Carlisle closes the road the hotel is situated in for all the clubers; 5 clubs in the immediate vacinity. Sleep was totally impossible until 2 a.m. owing to the noise of said clubs from the music and revellers. Hotel is very tired and shabby by today's standards.
Evening meal was excellent
could not sleep because of going on. very loud.
The hotel was easy to access with adequate car parking and is well situated for the train station. The room was spacious and comfortable. We had to catch an early train so did not sample breakfast.
The room fronted on to the main road overlooking city centre traffic, bars and restaurants yet there was no double glazing to reduce the noise. It was exceptionally hot in the hotel and we needed to open the sash windows for some fresh air. This was not easy and one would not stay open and we needed to close them anyway because of the noise. We were disturbed further by a car alarm, bin collections and early morning deliveries to the shops below in addition to the drunk fellow residents causing a disturbance further down the corridor. Not a happy stay
Rooms were disgusting walls had blood on sheets were dirty bathroom was so in hygienic. Wouldn't recommend unless desperate
I liked when I left
I did not like the five minute hike to my first floor room involving no less then five random sets of stairs. I did not like the unique and distinct odors of each of the different areas of the hotel ranging from dill pickle and nail polish to four day vomit with slight undercurrent of whiskey with a spray paint finish. I did not like the fist fight under my window in the alley. I did not like the lack of fans or a/c in the hotel. I did not like but understood the checked out, dead to the world demeanor of the staff. I really really did not like stepping over vomit, an old mattress and the various detritus of heavy drinking in the parking lot.
Very clean, excellent location, The room was good value for money.
£7.50 PER PERSON WHAT A RIP OFF
I liked the situation - very handy for the station.
It is in need of a little tlc.
