Ideally located in the historic capital of Cumbria, the ibis Carlisle is just 215 yards from Carlisle Citadel Train Station.
Score from 1078 reviews Very good
Located in the center of Carlisle, the Crown and Mitre has been refurbished to retain its Edwardian traits. It has free Wi-Fi, a restaurant, a bar and an indoor swimming-pool.
Score from 507 reviews Good
Just 10 minutes’ walk from Carlisle city centre, offering award-winning gardens and rooms with flat-screen TVs, Cumbria Park Hotel is situated in Carlisle’s quiet north suburbs.

Score from 495 reviews Wonderful
close to train station, nice bed
expensive breakfast price.. outside canopy needs a big clean, looks shabby outside. all needs updating.
The location was excellent for the Centre of Carlisle and the shops and pubs and clubs plus it had a carpark with loads of parking which was a real bonus.
The area is the noisiest in Carlisle on Friday and Saturday night, if you want a quiet night do NOT book here for the weekend, the Bars and Clubs chuck out at around 02.30 and then all hell breaks loose, the noise didnt stop until 05.00 am and our room was over the food shops which become a gathering point. It was amusing however watching the 'free entertainment' We will know next time. The Bar had no beer when we arrived on Friday and breakfast was too late on the Saturday at 08.00 as we had arranged an early start. It was an experience to say the least.
Do not stay at this hotel on a weekend night - it is situated very close to a number of clubs which stay open to the early hours of the morning. There were rowdy clubbers on the street until 5am and despite the double glazing we had a very disturbed night.
Receptionist could not have been more helpful. Breakfast buffet was good. Convenient car park, once I had found it.
No heat in bedroom, thin bedding VERY narrow single bed Very noisy until after 2.30 am - building work???
Great location if you are not a driver train station is just across the way. It was a 2 min walk to the venue that I was going to over that weekend.
The hotel itself is a bit run down. Shower was not good hard to get on and then not much power. The fittings in the bathroom like panel behind sink and toilet Cistern was loose. I had a room that was very noisy. It seems to be located on the strip where all the nightlife happens. I could her the disco music from the pubs and clubs near. I thought I was in a nightclub. You could also hear people talking that were standing outside on the corner.I then found out that if I book again, next time ask for a quiet room at the back.
City centre Near to train station
Foul smell of cabbage Thin carpets Creaky floorboards Noise outside Not very clean
Everything was good, rooms clean and comfortable staff very friendly and helpful.
Hell of a lot of noise from other guests Saturday night.
Free wifi and the front staff at the desk
I booked 2 rooms one for my mam that has really bad health and one for myself and boyfriend once we got the keys I took my mam to hers and when I booked her room I did say she needs a room next to the lift for her health but we got a room that she had to walk up 10 stairs then another 3 which she couldn't get up and the room was really dirty so man at the desk gave her a new room whitch was nice but the towels had big dirty marks on then when I got to my room it was even more dirty the bedding was dirty the bathroom was dirty had marks in the toilet bowl! And towels was dirty so I when back down to the front desk and the man change me into a new room whitch was good but none of us had any sleep coz of the banging all night sounded like someone was trying to get into the room I've stay at this hotel 3 times a year for the past 3 years and it's never ever been like that we always enjoy our stay at the hotel but I won't be booking up here again and the staff at breakfast are really rude a smile wouldn't go a miss and to talk to people in a respectful manner wouldn't go a miss aswell so thanks to the hotel for making my and my mother and boyfriend stay a nightmare won't be going back waste of money for how much I spend to stay at this poor hotel!
location for what i want was great. Food was good. helpful on arriving.
hotel could do with a bit of a spruce up some new carpets could help some worn out in places.
Location was great
being woken up at 3.10am by drunks and music... i know not the hotels fault but added to lots of little issues
Noise. Even on Thursday night, Carlisle appears to party well past 3.30am. The room was badly sound proofed and every person passing the hotel who was drunk and shouting and chanting could be heard. The occupants in the room upstairs walked around the room all night and at 6.00am they started to shout at each other. I called reception to complain and was told that I should have called earlier to complain. Nothing good about this hotel generally.
Lighting in room was very poor. If I had been working, lighting was not suitable. Room was cold. Condensation on windows. Bathroom was damp with rotting bath front due to shower screen being too short. Floor was also warped from same problem.
City Centre location is handy for all amenities. Thats about it for good points
Very noisy until 5am! Very old and tired hotel. Used by people for nights out in Carlisle.
looks comfortable and nice, close to town center, but not at the center, quiet
sheet was looking like has not been changed, breakfast with moulded bread
Could do with new mattresses
Comfy Bed Free Wifi En-Suite room
So noisy when facing Botchergate Doors slamming consistently
good Wifi, price was right, the location is very good
No meals in evening, TV a bit limited on no channels to watch.
short walk to the train station,
needs more light in the bathroom,
Like the fact it was close to the pubs and clubs.
The room was very basic been to far nicer hotels and travel lodges.
Location of the hotel.
We lost count of the number of blue bottles which kept appearing in the room even though the window was closed. We were offered another room but there was also flies in the hall and the alternative room! We eventually asked for a spray to help rid them. After complaining we were offered a refund which on a plus point was good of them.
I liked the period features and that it was central. Staff gave directions and apologised for any inconvenience which showed they cared about the service they were offering.
There seemed to be a lack of staff customers were left waiting at front desk. Check in time rooms should be ready as chamber maid rushed our bathroom was not cleaned! The room was hot no thermostat on radiator.
No sleep due to nightclub noise and people shouting in street till 3 am also bad smell in hotel needs refurbished
Solo traveller thinking I would get a small single room but was given a room with a double bed and also a queen bed so no complaints - didn't eat in hotel so cannot comment on food. Location is excellent. I would go back to this hotel for a 1/2 overnight stay.
Nothing negative to say
Nothing I'm afraid.
The room and bathroom were dated and not very clean. The Beds are old and not very comfortable with bobbly mattresses. The heat was stifling and unbearable. Asked for it be turned down but sure they turned it up. We were waiting for the timer to go ping as it was like an oven. Even a fully open window didn't make a dint on the furnace.
Good location for the city center Great breakfast with a self service system, plenty of food available of good quality Pleasant atmosphere from the staff. Quite an old style hotel with character fantastic dining room ceeling
Uncomfortable bed Quite noisy room was very warm and not east to turn down the heating
