small friendly old hotel on main street with 3 eating places and separate breakfast room. all tastefully modernised and refurbished.

This hotel and it's staff are great. It's not quite boutique but certainly has that sort of feel. Our room was at the back - very spacious - no traffic noise. Breakfast was excellent and very well presented. The staff were very helpful and flexible, even with us changing our minds about breakfast and turning up late for it, they still looked afer us.

Perhaps the electric showers could be better.

The hotel was situated in a good location in town and easy to access the car park was off the high street and in secure location. We found a very welcome greeting on first step inside hotel and were asked to view room before we took our luggage inside. This was a very nice touch and not something we have come across lately. There was also offer of assistance with our luggage to room if we required. We were told all the information about hotel and hours of meals etc in a very friendly and accurate manner. The food in the hotel was very good and had a good variety of choice to suit everyones taste. The hotel staff were very knowledgable of area and could give us lots of information of places to visit and how to get there. All and all a very pleasant experience and one which we will repeat. The staff were absolutely fantastic and made our stay most welcome. The food in the restaurant was terrific and of a high standard. The price was also great at £25 fro 2 courses for two people. A great stay and value for money.

This was the second time I used this hotel, and it was perfect in every way for my needs as a person needing to stay over night in the area, I can only describe it as 10 out of 10. I would most definitely recommend this Hotel this establishment to anyone.

Staff and rooms were excellent. Ensuite small but adequate. Food (in bar, in restaurant and breakfast) in the hotel was excellent. Location excellent for exploring the whole of the borders.

Mattress in room was very soft and uncomfortable. A few bottles of proper real ale at the bar would have been nice.

Soft mattress, too many stairs! TV didnt pick up BBC 1 or 2

Service was fine but the best point was the restaurant which offered good quality at a reasonable price

Rooms were not good, basic, tired and not well furnished. The bathroom was very small indeed ad the shower had low water pressure

We thought the hotel staff made every effort to make our stay successful.

The ensuite facility in our room was disappointing.
