Great location with car park. Excellent welcome from enthusiastic manager. Good value for money. Good breakfast - freshly cooked eggs, not dried up on a buffet. Basic ensuite bathroom - generally clean but very basic fittings. Dirty shower curtain. No wi-fi. Check out by 10.00 am on a Sunday!

when i checked out I found the hotel rather dated, the television for example was over 30yrs old only channel 1-4 no remote etc. Paper thin walls and dodgy fixtures and fittings I took a 1yr old baby and the room was freezing despite noticing radiators that remained switched off, also the toilet brush was soaking in a bucket of neat bleach which my baby could have quite easily accessed had i not found it first. needs completely upgrading very 1960s!!

Excellent location good for visiting the county, good value for money , most of the staff friendly. Breakfast choice good , nice restaurant or choice of bar food. Car parking facility a little shambolic due to other activities taking place within the hotel and coach parking.

Location Friendly and helpful staff Price Food I was rather disappointed with the tiredness of my room and some of the communal areas of the hotel. The room was spotless but the ensuite had seen better days. Just a minor niggle no toiletries and the bath towel was quite small .I am only 5'2 and it did not cover me properly but as I said only a minor complaint

The staff were excellent - led by a fantastic Manager, Ross. I and my family will return to this hotel, for sure. I would have no reservations about recommending the hotel to others.

Location & easy parking. Manager was friendly and welcoming. I was surprised to be handed a c/card receipt upon arrival as when staying @ booking.com hotels before I have always paid on departure and I assumed that card details were only supplied in case of no-show. The bed was very uncomfortable. Mattress thin and hard base. Had to be careful when sitting down on it. My husbands breakfast was nice but the porridge was awful and the poached eggs were very hard.

Lovely position on the sea front. Friendly and helpful manager. Decor was a little tired, ambience more suited to coach parties of elderly people. Our room was cold, but did have an electric radiator for extra heating.

Have sent letter- snail's mail- setting out my observations regarding this hotel. No Wi-fi. Penny pinching? No biscuits on tea tray. Penny pinching? No sugar spoons. No soap dish in bathroom by bath. Need to wave a Union Jack to attract attention for more coffee....the waitresses are much much too busy to worry about customers.....after all they do need to clear up the tables. The plug on the electric heater was hot to touch and switch off.

“me and my fiance went to the grand for the first time for a three night break over the bank holiday, although the hotel wasnt modern or fancy our bedroom was big and clean and had everything we needed in it, the owners were lovely and very plesant the breakfast is buffet style eat as much as you want bacon sausage eggs beans mushrooms and more it was tasty and enjoyable.unfortunatley due to unforseen circumstances we had to cut our trip short and the owners used there discretion and didnt charge us for the third night which was very kind of them as they wouldnt of been able to book the room out that evening and lost money.i would definatley go back to the grand and the location of it is fanrastic right by the pier but far enough away from the hussale and bussal of the town noise.would return and i thank the owners for there kind hospitality.caroline@brian” Caroline, Melton Mowbray |
