Having read some of the negative reports on this hotel, I think some people just have a need to complain. The hotel is brilliant, the staff are very efficient and friendly, the manager is lovely, the rooms are clean and spacious, the breakfast was tasty, the hotel is in easy walking distance of all the amenities and shops and it was very reasonably priced. I have no hesitation in recommending it to others. Some people have criticised the decor, but we felt it gave it character, and it is by no means shabby, so if this is all some people can find to complain about, I think they need to lighten up. No complaints from us, we were made to feel very welcome, and we really enjoyed our stay.

Although the hotel was like stepping back in time, it was very clean and the staff were very friendly. The breakfast was great and the cooked breakfast was not greasy and cooked perfectly. In terms of cost it was excellent value for money. We would definately return. The beds were a little worn and you could feel the springs in the matress other than that no complaints at all

I liked the friendliness yet impersonality of the reception staff. Not over the top I like the fact that it is an original 1930's hotel, complete with original lift and much of the decor. Although I like the fact that this is an original 1930's hotel complete with original lift and much of the decor and I think this should be retained as it is characterful and different, I felt that the rooms, furniture and general effects need cleaning and/or updating. For instance, in the two different rooms I occupied, the base of the shower plinth was badly cracked. I also felt the breakfast was not adequate in that tea or coffee should not be poured out before the breakfast itself arrives, and it should be provided in a jug to supply oneself with another cup if required. The general effect (re breakfast) was of being in Butlins, not a hotel. Though friendly, the feeling of personal service was absent.

Lovely position on the sea front. Friendly and helpful manager. Decor was a little tired, ambience more suited to coach parties of elderly people. Our room was cold, but did have an electric radiator for extra heating.

Location & easy parking. Manager was friendly and welcoming. I was surprised to be handed a c/card receipt upon arrival as when staying @ booking.com hotels before I have always paid on departure and I assumed that card details were only supplied in case of no-show. The bed was very uncomfortable. Mattress thin and hard base. Had to be careful when sitting down on it. My husbands breakfast was nice but the porridge was awful and the poached eggs were very hard.

Great location with car park. Excellent welcome from enthusiastic manager. Good value for money. Good breakfast - freshly cooked eggs, not dried up on a buffet. Basic ensuite bathroom - generally clean but very basic fittings. Dirty shower curtain. No wi-fi. Check out by 10.00 am on a Sunday!

Have sent letter- snail's mail- setting out my observations regarding this hotel. No Wi-fi. Penny pinching? No biscuits on tea tray. Penny pinching? No sugar spoons. No soap dish in bathroom by bath. Need to wave a Union Jack to attract attention for more coffee....the waitresses are much much too busy to worry about customers.....after all they do need to clear up the tables. The plug on the electric heater was hot to touch and switch off.
