Staff were friendly. Room was clean and tidy. Breakfast was fine.
Was hard to find without detailed directions.
*It was a nightmare to find the Manor. No signs posted anywhere and it was situated in a very narrow street you would never have guessed the was a manor in that area. *The room was all painted in black including the colour of furniture and bed sheets which felt warm and in general depressing. *The king size bed was two mattresses joined together which was very uncomfortable. *For the price we paid we expected to have a small fridge in the room. We were desperate for a soft drink at night time. We couldn't get from anywhere as there wasn't staff available after 10:30 and the manor was in the middle of no where. *A sound of continuous dropping of water was heard in the room every 5 minutes which lasted for approximately 1 minute which caused my wife have a restless night. *No shower gel only hair shampoo and body lotion in bathroom. *Around 8 am we could smell in our room fried bacon and sausages as if it was being fried in the room which nauseated me first thing in the morning. * Although the breakfast was nice but didn't like the way the bread was displayed. You have to slice it yourself. Not only I found it annoying, but also I found it very unhygienic.I didn't like the idea of everyone touching the loaf to hold it in order to cut a slice. The bread should be already sliced on the table.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. Cleanliness and styling of the whole hotel and room is amazing.
Glorious house and gardens
No options onThe breakfast
Well designed, attractive room in a beautiful house, lovely gardens. Staff welcoming & helpful.
Some items not finished to same high quality as most, ie towel rail not fixed securely.
The residence is a beautiful property Welcome host was very warm
Breakfast was limited Attention to detail in the room
Fantastic building Perfect village with lots of restaurants / pubs Friendly staff Breakfast was yummy (and more than enough to eat!)
Would have been nice if breakfast could have been served up until 10am, instead of 9.30am as it's always nice to catch up on sleep when on holiday We stayed in the Sir Lancelot room which was a lovely room, but unfortunately right above the kitchen so was woken at 7.30am each day by staff below - this can't be helped I realise - more of a room tip Would have been excellent if the living room with fire was available, I realise it's only B&B so not an issue really, but would have nice to be able to sit somewhere other than the room
The room is very.nice, with modern and grnd decoration, is like my dream house! The breakfast was generous in quantity and good
The kitchenwares are very dirty inside the house we stayed. The floor and stairs are loosen, whenever u walk on them, there are noisy sounds and felt dangerous to walk on them
Booked for one night after seeing fantastic reviews on here. Stunning location, beautiful room and close to some very nice eating establishments. Staff were very welcoming and breakfast was very, very nice!
only minor issue if being fussy was that the room didn't have the complimentary dressing gowns and slippers! Also the shower didn't have any hot water the following morning!
Staff were really kind and helpful, room was massive, bed was huge and really warm and comfortable, location is amazing.x
Breakfast was really nice, but could of had more cooked brekfast choices, but loved this hotel.x
loved everything about the place
Friendly place with historic theme
Uneven floors and low doorways
It was all very nice. Lovely friendly staff very welcoming. Would definitely consider staying again and recommending it to others .
The roller blind was broke so stayed down missing out on lovely view and because the King Charles room is painted dark ( not that this problem was decorated lovely) made the room extra dark so need blind to work though know they said were aware and waiting for it to be fixed .
A glass of Cava upon arrival and very friendly and helpful staff.
It's conveniently located in the centre of town. The staff were very friendly. Good breakfast. Very comfortable room. Charles 1st had his court here. Would really appeal to Americans.
Nothing about the b&b. Was difficult to get Sunday lunch in the town. Most were fully booked, so do book beforehand.
The decor and standard of rooms is amazing, pure luxury!
Breakfast times, starts too late!
Location Historic building breakfast private annex the hamlet
We absolutely love this hotel! We stayed for two nights at the beginning of the week, and enjoyed it so much we booked again for another two days later in the same week! The old manor house is lovely, the room is very spacious and full of luxurious decor, and the staff are so friendly. Also, we love the complimentary glass of Cava on arrival... it's the attention to the little details that makes it feel so special.
Absolutely nothing... although I would NOT recommend a visit to The Falcon pub and restaurant on the main road. The staff were extremely rude and made us feel very unwelcome. If you want a good pub in Painswick, the staff and customers in The Royal Oak are very friendly and welcoming.
The room was extremely spacious and luxurious. The staff are very welcoming and made us feel very relaxed. The introductory glass of Cava was a lovely unexpected touch.
I wouldn't recommend a visit to The Falcon restaurant/ pub. The young man behind the bar was friendly, but the older lady (possibly the landlady) looked down her nose at us and ignored us when we wanted to be served. If you want to visit a friendly local, The Royal Oak is far more welcoming.
Beautiful unique location near the church with a fabulous garden Picturesque views around Nice room design Good bed Quiet place
It would be much better if breakfast menu is diversified Can not find hairdryer anywhere in the room (we were staid in Magical Merlin room)
The manor is beautiful, the hamlet room where we stayed was larger than the pictures make out and the bed is so amazingly comfortable. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. Felt as though we were home only amplified by the surrounding beauty and luxury finishes.
Having decided not to drive there but get a train to stroud and a taxi to painswick, we had to walk everywhere and there is not much in the town at all. Which was what we wanted this time but probably won't be interested in going back just because of the area as i'd love to go back to the courthouse manor!
Comfort, attention to detail, bed seating carpets bathroom all to same high standard at good price
No lift, some items of cooked breakfast not fresh cooked.
The building exterior was beautiful and gardens were attractive and the staff was pleasant and helpful. The bell ringers Tues. night practice session at the lovely old church next door was a joy to hear.
We specifically booked the Julius Ceasar room because it had both a double bed and a shower rather than tub. I knew it would be on the 3rd floor, but didn't expect to have to almost crawl on all 4's to climb up. The bathroom was astonishingly small and the floor-to- ceiling beam beside the bed made nighttime trips a hazard. There was no sign on the west gate off the big parking lot to indicate THAT was Court House Manor (you had to be buzzed in through either gate).
Fantastic location. We stayed in the barn, the decoration was lovely, there was loads of space for the 4 of us and the grounds/view was gorgeous. Breakfast was good too.
No sign for reception when you arrive, no kitchen toals in the barn and no info about the court house or Painwick in the room/barn. These are actually suggestions.
- great character - beautiful room - excellent beds
- A little unorganised at breakfast (this is being picky)
