Lovely grounds and surroundings. Friendly staff. We booked a themed room and when we arrived we were given our rooms keys to find it was a standard room. When we enquired about this we were told they had overbooked the themed rooms. Luckily we had only booked the room for 1 night as I could honestly not have stayed any longer. The room absolutely stank of damp, so much so that even after we left our clothes still smelt. The bed was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever experienced and the bedding also smelt musty.

Was ok but basic. A little un kept inside and shower was tiny and no bath, all seemed a bit basic compared to the pics. Staff were nice but feel Premier inns are nicer and more updated than this hotel, looked like it lacked a little investment

Absolutely nothing. Disgusting state of room I was first allocated. Would never recommend this hotel. The slovenley manner of the the staff did nothing to endear me on my arrival. The whole place smelt of cigarettes, even though there should be no smoking at all in the building!!! The room I was first allocated was disgraceful. The state of the bathroom was grim - the shower, which was very closely aligned with the loo, was a health hazard. Black slim everywhere. When I complained and asked for another room, I was eventually given the Indian room. This was slightly better, but I have stayed in much better/nicer/cleaner rooms, all over the world. The breakfast was not worth the effort. The morning staff were just as uninterested. I was embarrassed, being Welsh, that people from other countries would stay here and thing that this 'hotel' was a good example of Wales.

We paid £90.00 for a family room and visit this area a few times a year. The only thing I would like to say is that the hotel could be doing with a really good clean and that the bedroom was filthy!!! I would rate this place 0/10 and am glad it was only for one night. The bedroom was just filth and that put us off attending for an evening meal.

Leaving. Everything. There were hairs in our unclean worn down room. No fridge, no hair dryer, large gap in door to hallway (could hear passers by talking), single pain window that let in a draft and outside noise, curtain that smelt stale and did not cover the whole window. Very unhelpful and unfriendly staff, we did not see a smile from one of them. Staff had no interest in looking after guests and made you feel like a burden and hinderence. Grounds need a lot of work, they are run down and not looked after. Would never even dream about returning in this life time. Horrible place and would advise all to steer clear.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room was dirty (dead flies which had been there for some time on the windowsill) and black damp marks in the bedroom and bathroom and the room was cold.

The Hotel is set in scenic countryside and my room was spacious. Hotel staff were helpful when I had a problem connecting onto the Internet. Good breakfast choice. If you like Indian food, the restuarant is mainly an Indian menu. The Hotel has great potential for luxury and requires a 'makeover' as the furniture throughout was very 'tired'.The first room I was given was not up to the standard required but the 2nd room was better. Housekeeping was clean on the 'surface' but on further inspection, needs attention.

The evening meal in the award winning restaurant was divine - really enjoyed the lamb curry! All the staff were friendly and helpful and the family room was large and spacious with very comfortable proper beds not sofa beds with lovely linen. The bathroom could do with upgrading - the shower was showing its age and the water pressure wasnt good but I am not complaining - it was good value for the price we paid.

Gorgeous building just outside of town. Normally, an out of town hotel means you are stuck with the usual hotel food - not here, the restaurant is an award-winning curry house. I don't know if it was Mondays only, but there was a very tasty and reasonable buffet, or a la carte.

By far the nicest experience was the food in the resturant, unfortunately the quality of the room was not worth the money it cost... The decor in the room was not worth the money it cost

Hidden gem in the countryside with an award winning restaurant. The grounds were beautiful, the hotel is a manor house dating back to the 17th century with history in abundance. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We stayed in a family room with 2 adults and 2 children. The room was a large room with a very comfortable king size bed and two single beds (not sofa bed), it had brand new carpets and complimentary bottles of water and hot chocolate. You need to book to eat in the restaurant which is very popular and serves excellent Indian cuisine (although they were happy to find some chicken nuggets for my daughter). All in all a very pleasant stay highly recommended.

The room that was allocated for my son was very nice and comfortable, The family room only had a shower in the en-suite, despite the fact the room was more than big enough for a bath. As it was a family room a bath was preferred as it is easier to bathe younger children than shower, especially as the shower was difficult to use and dated. Likewise in my son's room the shower was very difficult to use
