We had a lovely stay. The hotel is right in the middle of the "sights" of Stratford and close to The Lamb restaurant where we had our reunion with friends from France. The owner John couldn't have been more helpful and he cooks a smashing breakfast. So pleased we chose the Courtland. Diane and Tony, Nottingham
Great location- 5 minutes from RSC theatre. Lovely Laura Ashley style decor-very pleasant proprietors- friendly and helpful. Parking in the town is difficult but here you can park in the side street courtesy of Town Council for just £3. First class
location was great price was fair food to die for and very very comfortable.
Room was small !
A well positioned Guesthouse, close to the river, many restaurants and pubs. An extremely helpful owner , who went out of his way to make us feel welcome , & inform us of the places to visit in the town.
Totally left to do own things after briefing of local attractions.
Honestly nothing; perfect
Diana & John run a lovely Hotel. Last minute booking, so glad that we came here. Will be planning a return visit. Couryland is little and neat with all you need for a treat x
The hotel was tastefully decorated. Very pleasant and comfortable bedroom. Freshly prepared breakfast. Only a few minutes walk from the Shakespeare Museum / house and gardens.
Excellent hosts. Eager to explain where the best of everything in Stratford was, always ready for a chat. Great breakfast
I felt the room looked 'tired' and would have improved by a refurbishment. TV was difficult to work, beds still had sheets and blankets and were either too hot or too cold, bathroom had good accessories to use but very poor quality toilet roll. Just a bit more effort would have made it very good.
friendly welcome and knowledge of area, good breakfast with individual needs catered for, short walk to centre
Made to feel very welcome, but not intrusive. Breakfast menu the night before, with breakfast served at time of guest's choice - thoughtful, and a good idea! I always return to Coutland - better than many Stratford-upon-Avon hotels, in my experience. Only one minor point - very small towels.
Conveniently close to town. Very good value for money. Breakfast was lovely. Host very accommodating, gave directions to landmarks and local restaurants.
very accomodating. Good nights sleep and excellent breakfast. Friendly atmosphere and close to every thing.
Love stratford upon avon
There was nothing we disliked about my stay
The room was very clean and comfortable. It was in a good location and it was easy to get to different places from where we were.
The location and value for money was excellent. The breakfast was outstanding and the proprietors were some of the nicest we've ever met.
Pity about the cold toast!
Just a short walk from theatre and restaurants.
This Hotel refused to give me VAT receipt. They even lied that they don't pay VAT at all. When I ask for a normal invoice or receipt, they just pretend a connection problem and hand up the phone.
Like a home from home
friendly service and excelent breakfast
Bathroom in our room (small double) had a strong and persistent smell Room towards street can be a bit noisy
Central location Very friendly and helpful owners, gave us good tips Good breakfast including fruit and cooked to order items
was informed about all the places to visit (without having to ask) found that most helpful.
The Courtland is centrally situated (yet quiet) in easy walking distance from the station, and close to restaurants shops and (of course!) the theatres. The proprietors were really helpful with recommendations for places to eat, and were friendly and interested in my experiences of both restaurants and the RSC (old and current RSC programmes abound in the breakfast room). They even phoned while I was on my way to give advice about parking, though I was actually travelling by train.
Should be "Guest House" instead of "Hotel" as having assumed "Hotel", arrived later than had indicated but beyond our control and felt being 'told off' as they had planned to go out. Had expected a standard hotel manned reception during that time of the day 2pm but left feeling felt I risked them ruining their plans as they had to wait for me.
Gentleman was very welcoming, helpful with maps and suggestions for places to see, eat and drink. They gave us complimentary parking. The room was clean and no issues with wifi connection. Very good breakfast cooked to order. Felt much better and more smiles all around after initial setback on our being "late". As long as you read their house rules before booking and stick military style to them upon arrival you will have a good stay. To be fair, apart from the description of "Hotel" which led to misconception on my understanding of a hotel, they did/do put upfront all of their rules especially arrival by appointment. Summarily, Great value overall.
