Staff were very helpful and it sounds like we got a bargain price on our room! Many thanks.
Room smelt of cigarette smoke when we walked in.
It was in a good location, as we were visiting family living in Ipswich, will be visiting again in the future
Cant say there was anything to dislike about the hotel it was clean and friendly as I said in the review
I am utterly disappointed with my recent booking through your agency. I booked a hotel room at the Holiday Inn Orwell Ipswich on the 27 and 28 December last. At the time of the booking I requested a smoking room and on the booking paper it clearly stated that we had requested a smoking preference, as there were both options on rooms, one that clearly said double room(non smoking) and the other said just double room. Upon arrival at the hotel we completed the Information form and when shown to the room although it was marked as non smoking we assumed that the quota of smoking rooms were full and we were given this room to use as a smoking room as requested on the original booking. I feel that I was deceived by yourselves and by the hotel as I later found out that the hotel is by law a non-smoking hotel. If I had been told this from the start I would not have booked this hotel. I was charged with an additional 50 GBP which was charged to my credit card. The hotel left a message in the room after the first nights stay . I went to the Duty Manager and explained the situation at around 11pm ,he was extremely nice and understood the misunderstanding and said the charges would be dropped . The next day upon checkout the charge was still deducted from the credit card and the front office manager was attempting to explain the meaning of smoking preference as we were not British. How can you have a smoking preference in a non smoking hotel? That does not make sense. We have stayed at hotels all over the world and have never felt this ill-treated. I feel that the hotels decision to charge us with an additional nights charges was unfair . I also feel that you should have made it clear at the time of booking that this is a non smoking hotel .
I arrived early hours of the morning, the staff on duty were friendly and offered me a sandwich since I missed diner.
The toilet was not so clean.
size of room
tired bathroom. only one bedside table. tea making facilities were lacking in the amount of tea bags, coffee sachets, milk and sugar. Paid for WiFi.
The heating was broken so we had portable heaters in the room. These clicked on and off all night and so not a good nights sleep. It would have been good to be told about this prior to arrival so that we could make alternative plans.
LOCATION ACCESS TO BEDROOM
Heating, burst water pipe, though staff very accommodating with portable electric heater, fine for the one night.
Bed wasn't comfy at all Cold, no heating or additional blankets in room
Price is fair for location, guy at desk was very attentive.
my lap-top computer did not locate the hotels router - so they allowed me to acess my email on an hotel computer. Very helpful
Excellent staff, food and room.
Location, staff, & facilities
Very clean room Lovely bath comfotable bed
The breakfast is way over priced consudering you can get a lively ear as much as you like breakfast just accros the road in the carvery for just £4.99 a massive £9 cheaper
The hotel is pretty tired, with the mattress on our bed larger than the base. The sofa bed for my daughter - the mattress was so thin you could feel the springs. Staff tried there best, however the hotel didn't employ the brightest sparks!
Comfy bar area. Helpful staff.
I choose holiday inn as it has a gym. I felt very vulnerable coming back in a business park on foot in the dark. I did not see on web site that mini gym in hotel closed at 6pm. not good for solo female travellers. Also david lloyd gym insisted on holding my room key card which had my room number until I left gym. This was not security concious as it was left on the side and different staff had access to it.
Receptionists very helpful
Having to pay £12.95 for wi fi
Good price and nice staff
There was free wifi if you join their loyalty scheme
The speed was woeful and will mean I won't choose the hotel again. Like a lot of business staying guests I need to have a good internet connection
Staff Breakfast Nice original features in the building (staircase, panelling, stained glass) Room was pretty clean and spacious with the right amount of space for a couple of nights Bathroom well proportioned and a good shower.
Tired decor - patch of carpet completely worn away outside our room door - areas of green Perspex broken and worn behind the bar downstairs - bathroom unit looking a little shabby - upholstery could do with a refresh Room service tray charge is extreme - £4.50 on top of the cost of the food/drink, even just for a coffee! Room was noisy as there is a busy road running past and no double-glazing. Bed was also not that comfortable. Missed opportunity - while there were mirrors, there was no mirror above the desk that you'd usually use to do your make-up and hair. Extractor fan not working in the bathroom, couple of bulbs had gone.
Staff excellent, courteous and helpful. Decor pleasant. parking easy. Great location for shops and Trinity conference centre.
Beds a bit past it. We rolled into the middle of the double and you could feel all the springs in the sofa bed. Shame because otherwise the hotel was great...but you do need a good night's sleep!
Straight in off the A14. Very close proximity to the Trinity Showground and ease of getting to it. Plenty of resturants nearby.
The 2 days I stayed there were some very roudy Irish guests staying, 4.10 one morning coming in blaming one another for not having the key.
Clean and comfortable.
Facilities look tired and worn Not sure why there was a spare folding bed set up in our room. Trouser press was broken.
Room was great and the staff very helpful and friendly
The coffee etc never anough milk coffee
