This is the second time I have stayed at the Holiday Inn at Tong to report for enduronews.com on the Eddy's Extreme Enduro which takes place on the nearby Parkwood estate. The location is very good. - less than 100 yards from the entrance. There is an excellent Indian restuarant close by. The hotel is a beautiful old building that has been very well restoraed. It was clean and tidy. The staff were pleasant and helpful. It is substatially built and despite having a room over the function room while a party was going on, I couldn't hear a thing. I would be happy to recommend this hotel. The evening meal menu was reasonably priced but the breakfast (£9+ booked and £13+ on the day) was expensive and the tea making facilty only had sweeteners - no sugar. If you think I am being too picky - you are right.

Very handy for the Extreme Rally course that my wife was participating in (literally just down the road). Pleasant village of Tong is just a short walk away with an excellent pub - good food and real ale. Beware of wedding functions! There was a wedding reception on the night we stayed, and the function room was on our floor (1st). Our room was very close by and we were concerned that the noise from the disco would be excessive. It turned out to be not too bad, but talking to other guests, they were not so lucky with their rooms. If staying again I would check if the function room is being used and ask for a room as far away as possible!

Lovely Hotel - Great Location Very Quiet, Nice Staff. Just a few pointers - No Air conditioning - Rooms were boiling hot. Windows only opened about 4inch Also i think that the hotel should offer a little bit more EG: offer more leisure activities/facilities.

When the thump thump stopped after the wedding reception. Could not hear music, just the reverberations until 1am, on Friday and Saturday.Good breakfast. Tv poor reception. Fittings a bit "tired". No "saving the planet" reuse of towels instructions, light left on in bathroom by cleaners all day.

I attended at a family members wedding, the venue and room were excellent, a very comfortable stay. The price of drinks, its not a complaint as such but I was charged approx £7-8 pounds for a bulmers cider and a white wine and lemonade, the next round I was charged approx £11 for the same drinks, I didnt question this at the time as im not the type to complain as everyones human and makes mistakes, but just to make you aware. Also the money wasnt initially taken from our cards for the stay until we left, we werent aware about the £50 possible damage fee which we basically had to agree to on arriving at the hotel, we werent made aware of this on making the actual booking - I understand on occasions you have rooms that are damaged but it was quite insulting to think we are all untrustworthy.

Friendly Staff - had room only. Booked last minute and had a great deal. Room was lovely and clean and we booked a King size bed, it was massive! Want one at home! Had a choice of soft or hard pillows which was lovely. Nice and quiet location. Didn't have time to use facilities, could have booked meals but was meeting friends.Would definitely stay again,

Meeting facilities and catering good.Bathroom spacious.Good choice of pillows, soft & hard.Good parking. Quiet location. Breakfast poor. Ordered Eggs Benedict, very dissapointing. Cold bread roll instead of toasted muffin and hollandaise sauce tasted like warm salad cream. Reception staff disinterested. Did not feel like valued customer.Have to pay for internet access in room- should be free!
