The night I stayed reception could not get the Debi/Credit Card machine to work They said that they had been having problems with it for some time. The rooms where shabby and again we where told it was waiting a refit. We where told at the bar they had run out of all draft beers. They took ages to locate the wine we ordered. The restaurant we thought we had booked a table in never opened and we got a bar meal. The whole place looked run down and somewhat dilapidated. It gave the appearance of a business that was on the verge of closure

The location near the motorway was great and ease to check in. The breakfast was over priced and they were short staffed in my opinion, they ran out of everything and I had to keep asking for basic, like bread, milk orange juice, butter. The full english was also cold and not very much of it for the money, I have a full english for half the price most Sundays. Was also booked into a smoking room which I did not request and the smell of stale smoke was offensive. However after a quick call the recepetion managed to change our room, which was then excellent. Although we lost 15 mins waiting which we didn't really have to spare as we were going to a race meeting.

The room was comfortable and functional. It was a good budget stay for an overnight or business stay. The staff were very pleasant and efficient but at busy times it would have been nice to have two on reception to avoid lengthy delays.

We chose this particular Holiday Inn because of it's location. I was playing in a Senior's Golf Championship, about 6 miles away, which was convenient to us. The hotel met our sleepnig requirements nicely, and we also had a couple of meals, which were fine. I dont know whether this comment could be classified as a complaint, but I am confused as to how and why our initial booking costs were taken from our credit card. I have two credit cards which are used at different times of the month. I was assured that payment would not be taken until the day of departure - which would have been on a different card. I found out on leaving that payment had already been taken. I will not find out which card was used until I get my next statement. That apart the stay went well.

Room was very clean, easy to register, good nights sleep, etc Breakfast was not good, food was left standing for a long time. Eggs were dried and shrivelled up. fruit has run out. Not impressed.

It's convenience to the adding venue we were going to The trainee bartender who didn't know that a large or double means two shots and the right measure size for Baileys. Also the duvet cover seemed to be inside out and the opening to the cover was to the side and didn't do up, so while trying to sleep you'd end up up tangled in the duvet cover.

Staff - Excellent customer service skills, very friendly and always happy to help. The staff make the hotel. TV features - able to see bill at any time etc. Needs to be updated, very dated compared to all other holiday inns I have stayed at. Unable to get a full english as room service (limited breakfast only although full english is available in restaurant). Dark room. Small window. Everything felt under quality for a holiday inn
