The staff were friendly and the beds were clean. The rooms were not clean, there were cobwebs in all the rooms we used {bedroom, dinning room, bar, and reception.}

My colleague booked this accom for our business trip so was concerned when I normally stay in a hotel in area when on business not an inn. This inn was perfect for our stay as freindly, clean and good value. Will stay here in future not in the overpriced hotels in the area!!

The only positive was the friendliness & effort of the waitress staff who are unfortunate enough to work there. The hotel was shabby, outdated and in dire need of refurbishment. The grounds around the hotel resembled a building site with no effort whatsoever made by the proprietor to at least carry out basic maintenance. It was almost as if they had given up on the place, in fact it appeared as if they were maybe running the hotel down with no intention of opening for next season. The bar was dull & dingy and drinks were way overpriced for a facility of this standard. Breakfast was below average in quality. I must say that I felt slightly embarrassed as a Scot to see international tourists at breakfast who would be wondering if this is typical of Scottish hospitality.

Friendly helpful staff. Room was ok, nothing more nothing less. I was in the area on business and the facilities provided what I needed. Shower pressure not great, sink stopper did not work and no shampoo provided - so had to go and buy some which was disappointing. Bed was a bit hard but did not stop me from sleeping ok.

My husband and I had a very enjoyable evening meal at the hotel. The food was very good, well presented and value for money. The young lady who waited on us was very pleasant, friendly and efficient. The breakfast was also good with plenty of choice and again served by another pleasant, efficient young lady. A good start to a very long day of travel. The room could have been a little cleaner especially under the bed.

The room was dirty and very noisy. The family bar had very drunken people in it using language not suitable for children. There was no food after 9pm and our flight meant we only arrived after 9pm. We were travelling with a young child so this was not accecptable.

Fantastic welcome and service--nothing was too much. Food in bar was great--little bit expensive though for me. Pub was very lively each night we stayed there--sat, sun. Rooms were small but with all facilities and very clean with daily changes to linen, beds made etc. Nothing much round about but perfect for our stay which was to attend golf at castle stuart. A good base for exploring round about I would say. Breakfast was very good, owner as a delight like his staff. Would absolutely recommend it and will definately go back--probably next year for the scottish open again! A little noisy--creaking floors and thin walls. Could hear tv next door and snoring through the night was extremely loud--although thats to do with folk staying there and not the hotel--quite funny really. The overall experience was very good--a great, popular, welcoming stay.

Very friendly small country inn. Especially liked that it was not ruined by stereo type modern chain hotel decor but was a typical old scottish inn with character. Food was absolutely superb. I ate in the bar that had many locals and tourists enjoying each others company but spoke to others that ate in the quieter restaurant and they also enjoyed the food ( 2 different menus). Great cooked breakfast to order. Room basic but very clean and comfortable. Digital tv reception better than most large hotels that I stay in. Summary: good value friendy place to stay with decent food. Enjoyed everything apart from one other moaning guest who had paid a good price like I had but wanted a 4 star hotel!!! If you want 4 star, you have to pay far more.

The host was friendly and helpful. The inn is located in a nice village only 2 miles from Nairn and close to the attractions of the Moray Firth and Inverness. It is an attractive old building from the outside. There is plenty of parking space. The breakfast was OK. Much of the decor, furniture and furnishings is not up to modern standards and in need of refurbishment and upgrade. The cleaning standards are not good enough - the lower part of our bedroom wall mirror was covered with children's fingermarks (presumably previous occupants) throughout our stay. There was a dirty mark on the wall next to the waste bin. The glass ceiling light shades need to be removed and cleaned (are there dead flies in there?). Smokers tend to congregate on the steps outside the main entrance which is not very welcoming.

I arrived after 9 hours of travelling, There was no food available even though the booking form said there is food avavilable outside of regular times. Nearest food was 3 miles away. No phone network signal or wireless internet in room. No snacks behind bar, and when I asked for an early breakfast (6.30) was told not possible. Best they could do was 7.10. When I arrived at 7.15 there was no-one to cook the early breakfast even though they start breakfast at 7.30. and eventually got served at 7.35. having to delay my taxi by 15 minutes in order that I could finish my breakfast. Breafast portion very small too. Served on a sideplate in order to look bigger. Dissapointing

although the rooms were clean, the fabrics and the decoration were somewhat dated.we booked to stay for 2 nights, but found the bed very uncomfortable and chose to book out the hotel at 11.00p.m. when we had finished the job we had been working on (10.30p.m.) and drive some 200 hundred miles home rather than face another sleepless night.

The staff were friendly as were the others staying at the hotel and in the village.It is a good base for visiting many places in the area as it is in a good central location. It is quiet so not a place to go for parties or night life so suited us perfectly.
