All was excellent
On our last day service during breakfast was very very slow
The whole package everything was just perfect. Wil tell family and friends what a great place it is.
If there was a criticism there appeared to a lack of staff.
Simply! Everything! No really the whole place was awesome.
I didn't think the bar food was great. It wasn't in line with the place itself.
One of the best places I have stayed at in recent times. Excellent value too at £185. Impressive spacious room and even more impressive bathroom with walk in shower and bath. Free magazines were a plus point too. Make sure to book in early with the local good restaurants as they can be busy.
We liked the imposing Cotswold stone main house set in beautiful grounds. The welcome was warm with a genuine wish to cater for our needs. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The cuisine was of a good standard.
We booked our room through Booking.com and were advised we would be in a superior double room in the stable block. This turned out to be on three floors with a lounge on the ground floor no wider than a corridor, steep stairs to the bathroom followed by another flight of steep stairs to the bedroom. If we had known about this split level accommodation we would never have booked. Although we were offered a room in the main house for our subsequent two night stay we declined because mobile phone signal was non existent and Wifi inconsistent and unreliable. Staff, although friendly and helpful were not well trained or managed although Beth on reception and the lady managing the restaurant were welcome exceptions. Communication- or lack of it is one of the problems' with no manager taking an overall view of matters in order to direct staff to clear tables, refill wine glasses check on diners' orders or simply pass on a message when one has phoned ahead to order afternoon tea.Decor is rather dated and the eclectic look not in keeping with a traditional country house.
Good location, excellent rooms clean, could want for nothing, nice food, fantastic staff. Nice grounds for a walk.
Everything was wonderful even travelling with a baby staff could not more helpful the grounds, the room the manor itself is just pure heaven cant wait to go back
The 50 acres of grounds were impressive (provided you had a horse or car to explore them - and a big pair of knee high mud boots, which they supplied). Rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable.
The food (dinner and breakfast buffet) and food service were subpar- tasteless and boring. The room (interior) decor could be described as cheap, cheesy contemporary. The built-in furnishings in the rooms reminded me of an IKEA showroom. We stayed in two different rooms because our first room did not get a WiFi signal. One room was in a carriage house/stable, which felt like living in a missile silo and the other room was in the main house and had cheep, creaky floors so that any slight noise was amplified throughout the entire room (picture no privacy in the bathroom). Service? I had to go back and get my own bags from the desk attendant who forgot that she still had them sitting behind her. Then I helped her because I could not stand to see this petite women carry all of our bags because the owners were too cheap to hire a bell-hop or at least have a baggage cart. When my wife complained about the WiFi signals we were told that the one intermittent bar on her phone was proof positive that we did in fact have WiFi signal as advertised. And that fruit bowl at breakfast never seemed to fill itself after being emptied despite the fact that several guests were staring at the empty bowl. Maybe its just me but for the price charges I think the waiter should come by our table at least once to see how we were doing. Nope. The contemporary artwork dispersed around the grounds surrounding the main house clashed (in a bad way) with the Manor landscaping. The giant "hand" and "HEY" sign were tolerable because these artworks? were mostly hidden from view but those ugly colored pyramids in direct view of the large windows in sitting rooms…hmm.
We loved the atmosphere and the style of the hotel. It was very laid back and the staff were very friendly. The grounds were also gorgeous and we loved walking around them and over to The Green Dragon pub. We also really appreciated that you could have your breakfast delivered to your hotel room. What a treat! The bath room was stunning and the bath was huge. The complimentary products were another real treat. Thank you very much.
Unfortunately, we didn't like the food. The service in the restaurant was really slow and when the food arrived it just wasn't that good. We ate in the bar the next night and again the food just didn't really meet the standards found in other restaurants. This was disappointing. Our other area for improvement was that our room, whilst being well laid out over 3 floors and well equipped, was just a bit shabby. It felt like it could do with a bit of paint and a new TV and remote (which didn't work). The bathroom door cover was peeling off and a light kept falling down. That said, we would definitely stay again but maybe go for a room in the main house.
Cowley Manor is a deeply relaxing place, perfect to unwind and de-stress. The staff are friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The food in the restaurant is excellent and the afternoon tea is fabulous. Can't wait to go back.
The heating seems to be on one setting constantly so it could be a little stifling at times. Also, considering the attention paid to the rest of the bedding, the synthetic pillows are lumpy, not what I would expect; I had to ask for a non-lumpy feather pillow.
Everything. The pool , breakfast, the room, the staff. We had a wonderful break.
Not too busy like some spas. Lovely indoor and outdoor areas.
Very small children being noisey!
good facilities, pleasant surroundings and friendly staff
our room was very hot but there was a fan
Great location, lovely building, great spa, staff are so helpful. Stylish but not pretentious.
Stunning setting and fantastic hotel. Quirky yet very personal. Couldn't recommend more. Loved it!!!
The spa is second to none, the rooms in particular the bathrooms were fantastic, the cocktails were good, and the grounds and swimming pools were excellent too. Friendly staff.
We stayed at Cowley Manor once before, around 4 years ago, and we felt that the standard of service and food had gone marginally downhill. We were left waiting for drinks and sometimes food for quite a long time (25 min wait for cocktails one night). Sometimes food ordered was missing elements described on menu. And there is only one vegetarian option in the restaurant, and if staying multiple nights that can be tiresome. The wifi didn't work in our room (second floor).
The grounds were stunning. Staff friendly Food was good
Felt as though the hotel was visually looking very tired . For the amount paid per night, it should've been at a higher level of cleanliness and refurbishment is badly needed. Walls were scuffed , painting is needed and a good clean of tables etc wouldn't go amiss. Children were running amok
The setting, the staff... exceptionally friendly and helpful.
Our room in the stable, though glamorous, was on three floors and this impeded comfort.
the spa & pool, absolutely beautiful the bedroom the terrace the staff
teenagers in the restaurant on their phones kids in the pool all day. i'd prefer 10-4 for them. i do have kids honestly just like to get away from them a little too!
Cowley manor is simply exquisite, a gorgeous English manor in a beautiful setting. The decor and cleanliness are second to none, the staff are friendly( remembering your room number) and attentive and the food is simple yet excellent. What sets this hotel apart is the attention to the little details - from the daily supply of chupa chup lolly pops in the room to the fully stocked bathroom with toiletry supplies to the bowls of apples throughout the hotel for guests and the magazine selection in the rooms and throughout the lounge areas. I have been to this hotel at least ten times and will happily come ten more times!!!
If I had to fault one thing, I would say that at times the service can be a tad slow.
Location and facilities good. Food was very tasty. Excellent outdoor heated pool and waiter service!
I got hit over the head by a panel above the toilet and suffered concussion.... Their first aid person said he went on a course years ago and couldn't remember what to about head injuries. Food service was also below par...delay in getting served, other diners food coming to us, not getting food ordered etc! There were a few complaints by other diners also whilst we were there. They did say there were iPod docking stations in all rooms but none in our room and no hotel iPods available... All in use apparently. Iron that came to our room leaked and blew the fuse to our room! On our first morning got woken by work men making loud noise outside our room at 7 am on a Saturday morning.
we could take the dog the service was amazing as was the setting. the whole place is brilliant
Member of staff M/s Kendall was excellent !! Went out of her way in being helpful Child friendly and lots of games available .
Slow service at dinner in private room - Staff at breakfast not very experienced . Rooms too hot and the fan was a waste of time as too noisy .
