Good position friendly staff
Bathroom very small
Staff very friendly.
Potholes at one of the ebtrances, but other entrance was fine
Staff were very helpful, room ok could do with a makeover to bring it up to standard. Restaurant food fine, would be nice to be asked if your food is satisfactory.
Staff disappeared for long periods, had to walk around the premises to find someone to check us out. were all in the smoking area.
every part of stay was excellent from the check in process through to the food served. the beds were extremely comfortable and this experience was echoed by each of our twelve strong party. we would all definitely book this hotel again.
Clean and spacious room, comfortable beds bed,
Cooked breakfast was not very good, old furniture in rooms, a lot of noise from downstairs bar until late night,
Best night sleep I've had for a long time, the beds we're very comfortable, the on suit bathroom was perfect, bath and shower, and the breakfast was delicious. A great menu.
There wasn't anything I didn't like. Enjoyed everything about craigiebield
We loved this place. Lovely old country house. Large room with king size bed. Friendly staff. Great bar for food and drink in olde worlde surroundings. Excellent location 10 minutes outside Edinburgh - provides a great option to the city centre hotels that are very expensive.
No WiFi in room
the hotel has a good atmosphere and the staff are friendly.
Room radiators were never more than lukewarm and sometimes cold. The corridors in the annex were icy! Room TV was an old CRT model with only 1 (Entertainment) channel, so I couldn't get a weather forecast.
very good value for money , comfy big bed and an excellent scottish breakfast
Lovely old world hotel - open fire etc Good restaurant
Friendly and helpful staff. Comfy bed and nice breakfast.
The shower curtain!
It was close to family
The room was on the small size and at breakfast it would have been nice if the tables had cloths on them
Amount was deducted twice from the Card... We had to send out an email asking for the excess money & wait for more than a week to get the refund. That's very bad. We didn't get Hot water for a day.
Convivial atmosphere and friendly staff
On my visit I arrived at 6 pm, the temperature was ~ 0c outside and the window of the room had been left open to air and not closed. To make matters worse, the boiler was malfunctioning and there was no heating for several hours in the evening. I had intended to work in the room to prepare for a business meeting the next day but this was impractical.
Great staff nice food decent bar and car park
Nice in bar area
Creaky floorboards in room high step into bath
The staff were very friendly and the room was very big. The breakfast in the morning was very nice too!
There was no wifi in the bedroom we stayed in. We could only get it in the lobby. The heater seems to turn off when you turn the lights off so we woke up cold during the night (in autumn).
The bedroom was very comfortable and spacious. Good selection at breakfast.
The potholes in the driveway were more like craters. Cigarette butts outside front door was messy. Should have been cleaned up daily. There was a notice purporting not to use the front door area for smoking. Maybe a fireproof vessel would at least help to keep the area tidy.
Mattresses need replacing. No live entertainment on Friday evening
The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food is excellent and good value. Most of all its a very quiet location and the rooms are well soundproofed so a good nights sleep !
There is nothing mechanical about the welcome you receive - the staff always seem genuinely pleased to see you. We have been staying at the 'Craigie' for nearly 20 years - that speaks for itself!
Familiarity - we stay here about 3 times a year whilst visiting family in Penicuik. Glad to see that smokers are now being asked not to smoke outside the hotel entrance.
Potholes still in driveway
Peaceful, quiet and friendly
