Hotel staff were helpful and friendly. Room was comfortable and clean
There was only a partial breakfast buffet - juices and cereals. Ordering cooked breakfast was done at the table; and took fully 20 minutes to arrive and was a bit cold. Got the impression they were understaffed
The bathroom was good size. Most requirement provided. No shower cap. Bed comfortable
No biscuits with tea making facilities Shower ran cold at times Room very warm and unable to adjust the heating Staff could have been more friendly
the hotel is tired ---the lift needs technical service -- run down place
The hotel was very clean
People smoking at the door entrance and cigarrett ends right next to the main entrance making the lobby smell of smoke.
Our first floor room was well proportioned with a pleasant view.
The bar had very little atmosphere.
We were very impressed with this young man - he had most courteous and helpful manner, with a lovely sense of humour. He should go far.
Excellent short stay, a very cosy place to come back to at the end of the day especially as the weather was not too good. The staff could not do enough for us. The food was great and no need to go out to eat. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and woud love to go again.
I am reluctant to criticise in any way but want to be honest. We did find the dining area rather dark and cold and did not seem to have any atmosphere even when there were other guests there. This did not distract from our enjoyment of the food though!
Comfortable bed. Good tea & coffee supplies in the room.
Poor value for money, as room 124 was quite small for the cost, with a broom cupboard as a bathroom. With a lot of air in the hot water plumbing, it couldn't provide a constant flow of water in the morning due to the demands on the entire hotel system, so not able to use the shower. You don't need an alarm clock, as the air rushing through the radiator will wake you at 6.30am. Very impersonal and felt that the staff didn't really care, especially when reporting the issues to reception when checking out. Hotel is looking very tired and many corners are being cut to save on costs.
Paid over the odds for a very small room overlooking a roof.....very very poor value!!!
windows that don't work; wet wallpaper in common areas, and damp generally; appalling breakfasts; water coming thro roof in reception area; confusion over payment; faded glamour, very faded; needs about £25million spending on it
age was starting to show
The smallest hotel bed I have ever stayed in, a tidy double.
Fantastic! We booked last minute and got a great deal, ended up staying in a bridal suite! Lovely place. Would defiantly go again!
Jacuzzi bath didn't work but didn't expect one anyway! Wifi signal not very strong. Breakfast plates were cleared away maybe a bit too swiftly!
VERY HELPFULL STAFF
IT WAS FINE COULD DO WITH UPDATEING
friendly staff. Good service. comfortable bed.
bedroom a little too warm
Comfortable beds Good breakfast served promptly convenient location
Bar area quite dark and in need of refurbishment
Despite hosting a wedding and being very busy staff made time for us and the wedding did not impede on our stay in any way. Breakfast was excellent
No complaints at all. Will definaty stay again
Craiglands has history and character. If nowadays its grandeur is slightly faded, that only adds to its charm. We arrived on a damp Sunday evening after a long drive and were given a warm greeting by friendly and efficient staff. Our bedroom was enormous, spotlessly clean and the en-suite facilities modern and sparkling. The manager was friendly and solicitous, but not in the least obtrusive. The food was good and locally sourced, the hotel was well-heated and we left after an excellent breakfast, already planning a return visit.
Some local cask ale in the bar would have been a welcome addition!
Character of the hotel ,staff very friendly and helpful ,food fabulous would stay again well decorated rooms for an older property
Creaky floor boards in room and the decor in the restaurant too much black needs to be lighter
Lack of staff on duty.
the room was a beautiful room except for the noise of the floorboards.
the noise from creaking floorboards keps us awake nearly all night the noise was horrendous.
Comfy bed Friendly & helpful staff
Bedroom & ensuite bathroom in need of refurbishment Meal in brasserie was poor quality
Room was very comfortable much better than the last time we stayed with you. Bed very snuggy.
For £10 a breakfast it wasn't good value, coffee was poor, eggs were watery, bacon was fatty and not cooked that well.
Reception staff very pleasant Disabled access room (105) spacious, airy and clean. Bathroom clean with low bath. Quiet and set in lovely grounds.
Neither the bath nor the wash basin would drain properly. In the shower this meant you were soon up to your shins in dirty water as some was coming back up from the drain. This was reported after the first night to the manager directly but no action was taken. I consider this inaction as a potential health hazard as debris from the drain was coming back up and the occupant of the shower was being contaminated by this. This was the same with the wash hand basin, and again reported but no action taken. Disabled parking is sparse with only a very small faded sign to indicate this area. The first night we arrived there was a car with no blue badge parked across the disabled ramp preventing access. This car was reported to reception but no action was taken as it was there the next evening too. This time it was parked across 2 spaces, again reception was informed, but whilst doing so the able bodied driver overheard our complaint and said he would move the car. No action was taken on the either night by the staff to advise the driver not to use the disabled parking bays. I would suggest more clearly defined signs and road markings to indicate these bays and perhaps another sign requesting guests not to abuse these bays as alternative parking is too far away and ramps need to be kept clear for safe disabled access.
Surprisingly comfortable bed, and huge room. Free wi-fi
Poor food, Long way from town centre (advertises 5 minute walk to centre, but actually 18 minutes down-hill, and a lot longer back up the hill!} Car parking difficult when functions on.
