A beautiful, very peaceful location and quiet atmosphere in the hotel, so very relaxing during the time we were there. Our bedroom was quiet as requested (not the fault of the hotel there we two noisy guests in a room near us) and high up as requested with beautiful views over the tops of trees. A good English breakfast. An invigorating walk down into Ilkley, about 10 minutes at the most so very a healthy experience. The bathroom was a bit dated, but everything worked and it was clean, so can't fault that. A feature of an old but very grand Yorkshire stone building.

Quiet location with good views. Our bedroom and bathroom were spacious, comfortable, attractive and clean. We asked for a quiet room and got exactly what we asked for. A feeling of quietness and space in the hotel means that it is a good place to chill out after a busy day. A great location for so many restaurants and shops in Ilkley, within a healthy walking distance. Very easy parking. During breakfast I would prefer some vey soft calming music without lots of noisy chattering between pieces of music.

The staff were very helpful and polite especially the waiter we had for our evening meal on New Years Eve! The hotel is in nice grounds and the canopy and red carpet added to the occasion with there being a Ball and it being New Year celebrations. The breakfast was good although we had to keep pestering the waiter staff for more coffee and toast as we were a party of 7 people. The Brasserie was nicely furnished and decorated for our meal. Our room was a family room and is in need of updating! Our son had to sleep on a sofa bed which was very uncomfortable as I ended sleeping on it! There were only 2 mugs left in the room for 3 people to share. Our son wanted a shower and there was no hot water so we had to make do with a bath! We booked 3 rooms as a family and we were all well spaced apart and the older generation ( in their 70's) given a room on the top floor! Food was ok but overall the entire package was overpriced!

The staff were helpful and attentive and overall it was a pleasant experience. The situation is also good for our purpose - touring the Yorkshire Dales My wife is confined to a wheelchair and the many sets of spring-loaded double doors on the ground floor are a real problem for people in her situation. Someone alone in a wheelchair probably could not cope and a carer less able than me may well have to call for assistance every time they visit the dining room or brasserie (4 sets between reception and brasserie) . Staff are very willing to help but are not always available.

The lovely young lady at reception! She couldn't have been more helpful. It was going through a refurb so there are a few areas exposed and think they are charging a bit too much given the state of some of the areas.

It was our 40th wedding anniversary the day we stayed and my daughter, who lives in Italy, was delighted with the beautiful flowers and bubbles that were in our room when we arrived. My daughter said the staff were most helpful. There was nothing to dislike

The very helpful and friendly way the staff dealt with the problem we had do to excessive noise experienced in our original room from an 18th birthday party. We were given another room that was well away from the noise, and spent a very comfortable night. The food in the Bistro was very good indeed, and the breakfast was excellent. I thoroughly recommend this hotel. The excessive noise from the party mentioned above. However, this was no longer a problem due to the posive action of the staff.

Breakfast was very poor. Had to wait for milk whilst staff goofed about. Really wanted to leave a note for the cleaner: leave tea bags so I don't need to walk to reception at 6am. Very disappointed with attention to little things. At £94 that should not be an issue.

Pleasant room. Poor or non existent signage to find your way around the hotel. Extreme noise from function room below. Complaint resulted at first in being fobbed off with dishonest promise of when function would end. Breakfast arrangements were chaotic.Poorly co-ordinated waiting staff, no information about what to do,long wait for service, disjointed inefficient way of working seemed to be hampering delivery of service. This was not what one expects of a hotel of this calibre.

We liked the position and grounds, despite some of the grounds appeared to have been sold off for housing. The car park is a fair way from the hotel, but well lit. The hotel decor is good and our passage and room had just been decorated. Room was excellent but no view at the back only on to a wall and new houses. Evening meal was expensive. The breakfast was 'so/so' due to no fried eggs, tasteless scrambled eggs. Poor sausage, tinned mushrooms and poor beans. Bacon was good. Crockery although white did not match. For the price it was a good stay but not for anything more expensive. Matching crockery should be used at breakfast. Poor fried breakfast. Only had milk in our room on one day. No bath foam on the second night. Minor niggles but should be put right. Main complaint was the dividing wall between bedroom 137 and 138. We could hear them talking next door, and they were only talking normally. They were talking while 11:30 pm and began next morning at 06:30am. When we mentioned this at reception the comment was that this was the first he had heard of it!! Come on, be truthful.

Staff friendly, excellent breakfast and comfortable lounge to read in whilst waiting for friends to arrive, Rather noisy wedding going on until 12.30. Could have been put in a room well away from the noisy wing. Howling gale made the windows rattle and we had to stop this with newspaper.

The staff were very helpful. The Bistro seved very good food at a reasonable price. The room was very clean and tidy. The noisy floorboards were the only bad thing but then again it's an old building. All in all we had a great weekend at the Craiglands in Ilkley.

Most of the staff were friendly. Breakfast was good. The room I was in was cold. The water was cold and the towel rail was cold. There was not clear signage to the room from the reception area. The restaurant was overpriced. The food was not good with overcooked and tasteless vegetables. I have stayed in much higher quality B&B's and was disappointed with the facilities at Craiglands. The building looks impressive but it does not deliver.
