The spectacular 17th-century, Grade I-listed Crewe Hall is set in extensive grounds in the Cheshire countryside, with historic Jacobean and modern architecture.
Score from 130 reviews Very good
This Tudor-style building is in quiet gardens, 550 yards from junction 17 of the M6 freeway. It has free parking, a stylish restaurant, a bar and free Wi-Fi in the public areas.
Score from 164 reviews Good
A haven of peace and tranquility, this traditional English country house is in a unique rural setting, surrounded by beautiful gardens and a 60 acre lake, yet only 12 miles from historic Chester.
Score from 83 reviews Very good
Shrigley Hall Hotel, just 15 miles south of central Manchester, there is an impressive manor house in leafy Cheshire countryside.
Score from 177 reviews Good
This was an outstanding property, we felt welcome from the moment we arrived. The estate was vast. The room was comfortable. Food was impressive and service excellent.
Didn't have enough time there and would love to come back for one of their murder weekends.
The hotel facilities were fantastic, the pool, sauna, jacuzzi and bar were brilliant
I didn't like hearing the staff saying at breakfast "here we go, round two - not long to go now" I was made to leef unwelcome and rushed my breakfast in an attempt to get out as quickly as possible.
Room wasn't ready for check-in time of 3pm
Very comfy bed, good pillows and warm room
Stayed in early December, hotel was hosting 3 events, drunk people running up and down hall banging on doors until 7am - no action from hotel staff or concern for other paying guests. Hotel not as expected, is marketed using images of grand house, in reality the vast bulk of the rooms are located in a newly built annex which mimics a Butlins resort in style and character. Room dressing and furniture outdated and old. You book because of the Hall but this is not what you get. Poor customer service from night staff
Grounds Decor Facilities Breakfast
I understand that it was New Year's Eve however I felt that it was very overpriced for what was actually recieved
Excellent building. Restaurant and bar are both very good. Rooms are comfortable and offer free wifi.
Rooms on the ground floor would benefit from increased lighting as this can make them feel more dreary than they actually are
Everything - especially the staff
Hotel seems more of a conference location that a country hotel
The venue, food and staff were all very good.
Noisy bathrooms - people using the adjoining bathroom sounded like they were in ours !!!!
Grounds are spacious and the leisure club a real treat. Staff very helpful and friendly
The cooked breakfast buffet was below standard
Location, service, unpretentious establishment for large numbers of people. Disappointed to be given a room as far as possible from reception when I notified severe walking difficulty however was not charged the room as I did not stay the night even though I offered to pay.
Reception could have been more helpful and welcoming on arrival however I did receive help with case on leaving. They should invest in some luggage trolleys as you have a really long way to walk to your rooms and lift provision is barely adequate. Overall, a more personal approach to customer relations would win them higher scores. Not sure management cares.
Pictures of a lovely old hall are a myth - only reception is in this building. Everything else is in new builds with no character and masses of delegates moving on mass between meeting rooms, bar and restaurant. Noisy, overcrowded and zero ambience. Avoid unless you are on a business course.
The hole package was extremely good the welcome/ staff/ facility's can't falt it.
doors being slammed shut at 3am after a party in the main hall
Wifi was good and allowed me to remote work as needed.
TV very poor signal. Room very hot at night. Wasn't obvious how to turn the heat off.
Poor choice on menu for starters and main course also very expensive and meals very small
Restaurant food was delicious and interesting. Comfortable room, nice soft bed.
The bar staff were not very skilled.
Clean, spacious and comfortable, conveniently close to motorway.OK for central Cheshire.
Set up mainly as a conference/training centre which tended to make it a bit noisey at times.
How polite & helpful the staff were on checking in. Loved the decor /colour scheme of my room, the bed was to die for it was so comfortable.
On checking out didn't get acknowledged as the receptionist was on the phone, but it wasn't a problem as we used the call button for the barrier
Staff were excellent
Food was poor
The noise from the next rooms toilet being used . the bar belonged in butlins not a £100 a night hotel. We should have been warned about the weddings booked in
Location and nice staff
The small double bed 4ft 6 'and small room not good enough considering the price. I rarely have seen such a small bed in an expensive hotel. I won't go there again
Too many TV's in the bar area -- nowhere to sit for a quiet chat !
The price of the drinks at the bar and that the residents bar closed at 1am even though we were told 4am. There were 25 people in our group all mature adults at the bar when they shut
