Excellent dinner; very comfortable public rooms and bedroom; attentive response to special request for a long distance view from bedroom; friendly and competent staff Very dry and most likely frozen smoked haddock at breakfast with overcooked poached eggs; better not to offer it than offer it and exeute it poorly, particulalrly so close to North Sea fishing ports. We were offered help with our baggage but were not advised that our room was at the top of the hotel with not lift; unaware we said that we thought we could manage and were still nnot advised of the difficult stairs - we'll know next time!

The staff were excellent, and the food was great We paid a premium for the best room we could book, as it was a celebration. However in hindsight I'm not sure our room was worth all the ectra money we paid. Lovely - but maybe not that much different to a standard room.

The lawn The bedroom was too gloomy and dark.I could not see to shave in the bathroom (no light over basin).2nd floor corridor too hot and smelly.Strong smell of fried /roast beef all up the stairs (same last time I stayed). Last time I stayed I had a top floor "suite", I think it was called Glaisdale. It was terribly gloomy - all black and brown and dark colours. You need much lighter colours and much better lighting.

We were staying at Crathorne Hall as we were attending a wedding there. After driving up from London on the morning of our stay we had some terrible weather which resulted in some of the motorway's having very big traffic jams / closing etc and we ended up arriving at the hotel 20 minutes before the ceremony was due to start. The staff were really helpful and checked us in super fast and carried our belongings up to our room for us - not even hanging round for a tip! The room was lovely and we had a nice comfortable sleep. It was great having everything we needed in our room and the views from the hotel are amazing. We will definitely stay there again when we are in the area.

The breakfast is wonderful. Haven't eaten such a good bacon before. Diner is good though that is paid separately. You have got all the gagets in the room. The standard single room is small. It is used to be the servant's room. Things do feel a bit crowded for the price paid. Signal for some satellite news channels is poor.

Look - this hotel is absolute class. Ok at the price you don't stay here every week but if you want "class" then you have to pay for it. The Eggs Benedict for breakfast was superb and you don't often find it on breakfast menus. Staff were great and special mention to Elio and lady on reception on Saturday morning - courtesy isn't a dead virtue in the UK if they are anything to go by. Good stuff, good staff!
