Staff were rude and unwelcoming. We were told there was no bar for us to use even though it was advertised as having one on the web site, the board outside and the fact the bar was visable from the breakfast room. Room had black mould on wall , rubbish on floor and urine around the toilet from previous occupant, shower had as much force as a water pistol....had to wash each limb seperatly as water did not cover much else ! Only one plug socket for use. 2 channels on the tv. Walls so thin can hear people talking through them. Continetal breafast consisted of fried eggs and beans . I expected basic for the price that was paid but still expected it to be clean, friendly and provide amenities that it advertised. With worst hotel I have ever stayed in.

Cheap, clean, functional. Some of the fittings (lamps) were less than well attached to the walls. That gave the place an air of tattiness and raised safety concerns.

Friendly and helpful owner. Accommodation and bar/restaurant clean and tidy. Free WiFi Building badly in need of internal re-decoration. Paintwork very sad looking, yellowed and cracked. Old-fashioned decor. Reception area cramped and uninviting, left us wondering what we had let ourselves in for. Gardens untidy - grass in need of cutting En-suite adequate but cramped Internal repairs have been effected unprofessionally - shower re-sealed very messily, sink cabinet cobbled together out of unfinished and "water blown" chipboard. A picture in bedroom attached to wall by 4 nails through the frame. On arrival, 10 minutes passed before anyone appeared. The (Indian ?) receptionist's english comprehension seemed poor. He had to call the owner when I asked a "complex" question (Is it ok if I leave car on car park whilst we take train to London)

Not the best place to stay a night. The room was untidy and had a musty smell. Bathroom was not cleaned to a decent standard.

The location was pleasant in what seemed to be a nice, mature residential area. It felt safe and pleasant. Parking was good and though not close to the m4, it was not a bad location. The hotel is in an old house, my room was accessible via a series of narrow winding stairs. The room was small with paper-thin walls, I listened to the person next door snoring both nights of my stay.

Friendly helpful staff, clean pleasant rooms. Close location to Reading town centre. The shower in my room went hot and cold alternately every minute or so, which was a little challenging, but good for waking me up after a night out!

The hotel was very clean. The staff were really friendly and helpful which is in contradiction to some of the previous reviews. The breakfast was great. Good juice, good cereal, great cooked breakfast and good toast. Great coffee. Also security good. Had a tv in my room. Compared to some hostels I've stayed in this was a palace. The fact that I had to share the bathroom with a few other people and there was only a bath and no shower. Maybe there should be more bathrooms and a shower. Also, the lock was broken on the toilet door.

Breakfast was my only highlight of the one night stay. It is also nicely located to town centre My room was tiny, single bed springs gone in mattress, tv on brackett on wall no safety belt holding it, radiator hanging off the wall, and water stains on ceiling, other marks on wall like wallplug holes not filled or finished to a normal standard, toilet had bare wood on show boxing in pipes (not tiled). Sink tiny with shelf above it, wrong position

The break fast wasnt good. The hotel building is too old and needs to be properly renovated. The staff looked rather unprofessional. Had teh same guy man the front office as well as serve breakfast in the dining rooom. The milk at breakfast had a bast taste and smell. I didnt use it and prefered to use the pre packs in my room.

Location only, close to town centre, nothing else. This is a b&b wanna be hotel. Staff was rude and have poor English skills (they we're unable to understand what cot is not to explain why there is no heating or why you have to give personal details (passport# or car registration)). Rooms are small (big rooms divided to two small ones to have more rooms) and cold (heating was on for 1-2 hours and then off during the night, we used bathroom as a refrigerator). Walls are thin (you could hear neighbor snorring) and loud doors and floors (sooo squeaky). Not recommended for family at all, especially with a baby.

Budget Hotel near to my son's flat in Reading. We booked one night and then wanted to book the night after next. But a misunderstanding meant that my husband had booked and paid for 2 extra nights. When this emerged as we were checking out, we were not impressed that they insisted we paid for the extra night and did not offer a refund. We are not minded to return here. Accommodation was satisfactory. Breakfast on cold plates. Whole place seemed to be run by one person. But could have been due to staff holidays.

1. Good location neaqr town centre 2. off-road parking 3. price 1. shower - itself was good but door would not close, shower-gel dispenser fell off the wall as soon as it was touched 2. TV - it switched itself off when attempting to adjust volume 3. 'breakfast included' but only half a breakfast, proper one had to be paid for 4. looked a little tired, could go with a lick of paint

We constantly had to ask for the central heating to be switched on.i would suggest chrging a couple of pounds more per night for the room so as to be warm when you come in from the cold outside we came in on the satarday asked for the heating to be turned on.we changed our clothes then went out for food.came back half an hour later. The heating had been switched off.i find this ridiculous.i would never stay there again yours e quinn

We were struggling to find a hotel for the evening we wanted so we chose the Crescent Hotel as it was close to our relatives whom we were visiting and it was cheap compared to some. Some reviews were not too good but as it was only for one night, we booked a room. We did not arrive until late but the staff were friendly and showed us to our room. We had booked a family room (for 4) with an extra bed so were a little cramped but not treading on each other's feet. The room was pleasant and comfortable enough with tea making facilities, a TV and free WiFi (which was a bonus) and an en suite. Breakfast was a choice of juices, cereals, tea or coffee, eggs and beans and as much toast as you wanted. Full English was a little extra. On site parking was good and free. To be honest, I would not choose this hotel again as our first choice, but if our usual choices were not available, there would be no problem using the Crescent again. The decor at the Crescent Hotel is in need of a facelift and we only found one plug socket to use in the room. With all of us needing to charge phones or other gadgets, we had to wait our turn, so definitely more sockets required. The en suite was small and the grouting in the shower needed re-whitening and the shower door was very stiff to move and did come apart at the bottom.

Comfortable room, although small. . Bathroom and room very clean. Breakfast very good. Not too far away from city and had free car park. Ok for one night, had to go to visit daughter in unniversity. Too far to walk into town, cabs £5-£6 each way. One night is enough, quite expensive really for such basic accomodation.

Nothing. My single room was ridiculously minute, the bed terribly uncomfortable and the carpet looked worn and filthy. There was a gouge in the wall where the door had banged it, I couldn't get the tv to work and the shower was both stone cold and the soap dispenser wa empty.
