Cricklade HouseCommon Hill, SN6 6HA Cricklade (Show map) Excellent, Score from 135 reviews“From the time we checked in, the staff were very attentive and helpful, our room was spotlessly clean and exceeded our expectations. Booked it as a late bargain weekend break and we had full value for money. We couldn't find fault in anything, and have already recommended it to work colleagues, can't wait to go back!”

Standing in over 30 acres of peaceful, secluded grounds on the edge of the Cotswolds, this beautiful country house boasts breathtaking views out and over The Vale of Cricklade towards the Wiltshire Downs. Built at the turn of the last century, the privately-owned Cricklade has been tastefully restored and carefully extended. Perhaps the most impressive addition is the magnificent Victorian style glass conservatory which runs the full length of the original building, making the most of the hotel's elevated position, with wonderful panoramic views of Wiltshire countryside. A unique combination of Cotswold charm and relaxation, Cricklade Hotel & Country Club offers a traditional, warm and friendly welcome for those in search of tranquility, comfort, good food and wine, with extensive recreational facilities. Easy to find, close to motorway. Staff friendly and helpful, room very large ,clean & comfortable...food both in the bar & restaurant very nice beautifully presented and very tasty. We choose it because of the special offer 2 nights with breakfast............the breakfast was huge and you needed a walk around the golf coarse after !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very attractive old bulding in the countryside but near the smal town. Great atmosphere: god lighting and confortable loung areas with great views. Perfect to hang around. Great newly decorated room and bathrom with plain white cotton bedding and plenty of very large flufy towels. We had a room at the front and was very quite only heard the sparrows in the morning. All very confortable and clean. And good swimming pool. Excelent breakfast in sunny conservatory. Enjoyed our stay very much. Would go back.

Full of promise as you drive up the long drive to the hotel building, and appears very welcoming from the outside. Inside it's a relaxed, informal, atmosphere, unpretentious and comfortable, with friendly and pleasant (but professional) staff. We had to stay for a second night which we had not booked, and the staff were very flexible, reasonable and helpful when I asked to have the same discounted rate again. Overall the hotel has character and personality. Good balance of facilities available but I didn't get a chance to use the pool/spa. but at discount price was affordable and superb value considering the generous cooked breakfast. Good quality and reassuringly traditional, and more than well deserving of its 3star AA rating. The lounge in the conservatory was fab with its enormous sofas and glorious views. Rooms were spacious and comfortably furnished, beds lovely and squishy, bedding was good quality and towels beautifully thick and fluffy. Food (breakfast and bar menu) was delicious and flavourful local produce, real bacon like it used to be, plump tasty and natural sausages and eggs with rich dark yolks, all cooked perfectly. Loved it and would definitely choose it again Nothing that I did not like. We had no complaints (our room on the first night had faulty radiator thermostat that made it too hot overnight, but we were moved next day to an enormous room in the Courtyard annexe.) My only comment would be that in some parts (ie our room in the annexe) the decor is a bit tired, dated and 80'S. Specifically our second bathroom had very dated coloured bath and was carpeted rather than tiled - quite off-putting and had the appearance of being grubby (even though it was quite clean!) especially in comparison to our bathroom in the main house which had been white tiled, bright and spotless. Having said that, I believe the whole place is undergoing a refurbishment project, so this will hopefully be dealt with - and when you consider the quality and value overall it's not that significant, although if I'd paid rack rate I might have found it disappointing.

Stunning location with superb views, we were lucky enough to have a great room that took advantage of those views, sunrise was amazing! The hotel was excellent, clean and very well appointed with very helpful staff. Lounge bar and conservatory are very cosy and ideal for evening drinks. Menu looked great and well priced although we only had breakfast, full english was tasty and nicely cooked. The room had good bed. Two nice comfy chairs and a table, digital tv and excellent bathroom all added to this great hotel. Ask for room No 36! We loved it and will definitely stay again.

Cricklade House is a beautiful Hotel set on wonderful grounds with the most beautiful views for miles around. I had a fantastic stay here at a wedding function. The staff are extremely pleasant and the rooms are very nice, with very very comfortable beds, the only thing that got me out of bed was knowing I had a full English breakfast waiting for me downstairs.

This was great value. Loved the lounge and conservatory and the healthsuite, would definitely recommend this hotel for a weekend break. The staff were really lovely and friendly and helpful and though its not 5 star it has good level of facilities at an excellent price. The roof of pool needs painting is about my only criticism.

Very good trip, booked due to the fact the hotel had a snooker table, as well as a swimming pool and 9 hole golf course! Brilliant leisure facilities. Rooms were of a good size and very clean. The breakfast was a good choice and cooked nice and fresh. Especially appreciated the fact the eggs always came with runny yolks as in so many placed the eggs are rock solid! A very nice hotel well worth going to and we will definately return. Unfortunately the swimming pool was closed for part of our trip due to the fact they were painting the ceiling but it was open for part of the time and was of a good size for a hotel. The bar menu was nicely cooked but the portion of extra chips we ordered was over priced and we only had about seven chips for £2 odd!

staff were very friendly and helpful. Service was very good. My wife became very ill after eating meal in dining room the first evening -allergic reaction to the food being contaminated by or including truffles or mushrooms (which she is highly allergic to). We feel that cricklade house should have taken some responsibility in this matter - not charge for wife's meal but they did not. The allergy was explained to staff before ordering meal. My wife still has not fully recovered after 5 days and it has spoiled our holiday.

Wonderful setting, period house, a feeling of splendour. (Not a dislike) but interior decoration and one or two bits are tired. Not a problem to resolve as I specialize in this type of refurbishment.

The relaxed atmosphere, the friendly staff and excellent food, good location for seeing the cotswold. Having to be moved from our room due to some maintenance problem, down grade to a much smaller room, found out later that our room had been given to somebody else without asking us if we would like to return to our original room which we found to be upsetting and did spoil our stay.

Cricklade House is a very comfortable hotel with friendly, helpful staff in all departments. We took breakfast and dinner at the hotel during our stay and the food was excellent. All this service and good food despite the fact the staff were at the same time catering for large Christmas Party parties. Excellent all round value for money

The rooms are very old fasioned but adequate. The staff are very friendly but have not been trained to be able to offer three star rating. The bar wasn't managed very well with only one very young barman who didnt know what stock he had. Also he was unable to open a bottle of Cava as he had never opened one before. The resturant was a little better but when it came to serving the cheese the very young waiter used his fingers to prise the cheese from the knife yuk!
