Staff were lovely and really helpful. Great night's sleep on a firm bed. Really glad I made the last minute decision to stay.
Freezing cold rooms.
The location was very quiet and in a green area.we were welcomed by a friendly staff that was the only one there. The rooms were very maintained and cosy.
There was a misunderstanding on how much the rate of our room was, whether if it's per room or per person.we felt that it wasn't a genuine mistake.about the wifi it was ok in the lobby and the restaurant but there was no way you'll get wifi in the rooms.
Friendly willing staff. Good evening meal. Quiet location and comfortable bed.
Some very minor housekeeping issues in bedroom and area just outside of the bedroom (leaves blown in and around entrances). Management need to check more closely. I felt it was not quite to current hospitality industry standards which was a real shame. Breakfast was a little disappointing because much of the buffet element was empty and we had to ask staff to replenish. The cooked breakfast was left to one of the general staff to cook rather than a member of the kitchen team again not quite as well presented as it might have been. I felt the reception area (first impression) was very cluttered with general office detritus and on one occasion equestrian staff were using the area to carry out admin and other work that ought to have been out of sight of hotel customers.
Nice setting, grounds,
Bit shabby, disinterested staff
Liked the quietness, the room was nice everything we needed, the grounds where nice.food was ok
I didn't like the price of the drinks they could have been a bit cheaper. The price of BB was a little high I thought.
Slightly more quirky than the adverage hotel stay but the staff were very friendly and the rooms are lush.
Lack of good wine list
Quiet rooms, a great night's sleep. early breakfast requested was delicious
Rooms a bit dusty
Great staff good food
Comfortable room and quiet.
Poorly trained staff
Not a damn thing, if you stay at this hotel your are risking your health even for one night.
This hotel is a fetid fly blown tip and if you value your health then stay somewhere else. The quality of the food is not as described and our room was buzzing with flies and there were squashed flies on the floor in the bathroom with bits of dead flies and fly pooh most everywhere. The bathroom floor was black and white and whilst I thought I had removed all of the flies from the floor there were still more flies squashed on the black parts clearly staff had walked over the floor presumably to replace towels and walked over the flies completely ignorant of the dead flies and too disinterested in simple hygiene to clean this bug infested tip. There was a cat in the eating area and beneath our table was a dead chip. The menu was derisory and the fish and chips my Wife chose consisted of soggy uncooked batter with just one solitary piece of grey looking fish and my steak and chips was tough tasteless and inedible not steak as I know it. When I complained I ask if any of the staff had bothered to sample the food on offer on their menu and the declined to answer but when pushed further said no they had not even bothered to sample the food on offer. Clearly this hotel is only interested in your cash and not interested at all in basic hygiene or food quality. When at 11pm I complained about the fly infestation I was asked to leave because I raised my voice and what I was supposed to do was return to the room after proffering constructive criticism and continue to dwell in their fly blown sewer. To leave meant a 220 trip home with a Wife who suffers from Angina Parkinsons and Asthma. When asked if they really wanted a death on their hands as well again they declined to answer. Do not stay at this hotel under any circumstances there are far better establishments available at the same cost, money should not be a criteria or a reason for catching a disease or food poisoning.
The location, very attractive building and grounds outside
The room had a nasty musty/damp smell. Didn't feel 100% clean.
The quality of the dinner was excellent.
1.Breakfast was poor. 2.Room not made up as you could not find a key. 3.During dinner two girls in bikinis chased by (the chef?) ran through the restaurant. 4.Staff sitting at best table on bar balcony. 5.Reception area very messy and unwelcoming.
We used this hotel for a two night stay and found it in a very peaceful location. The staff at Crockstead Farm Hotel, were magnificent, they could not have been more helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The food was wonderful, and the accommodation was up to a high standard.
there was no signal/wifi & no TV switcher
Nice surroundings Friendly staff Nice breakfast with duck eggs
Our room was incredibly dirty. It probably has not been cleaned for months. There were cobwebs and dust everywhere. The kettle had dirty brown water inside. Non of the dishes were clean. The bedsheets were clammy. The outside areas were also not very well looked after. It is a shame that such a nice place is not being looked after properly. With some TLC it could be amazing. I would not recommend to anyone to stay there. Everything needs a major make over first.
Ducks in the pond
The setting was wonderful such a shame it could be such a great venue
The room was very small Mattress hard and bed creaked a lot. When sat at dressing table had to keep moving to let other person pass by. The tv was postage stamp size no remote I asked for one which was promised but never forthcoming and when turned tv on it was not connected to system at all. Only 2 hand towels supplied no bath towels so impossible for both to take a shower. Staff very dozy at breakfast . Did not clear dirty dishes from tables when previous occupants left so we had to sit at table with dirty crockery which was not removed before our breakfast arrived . Credit card machine did not work, Luckily I had cash Will not stay here again
Receptionist was very welcoming and friendly.
Location is quiet with pretty garden and duck pond.
Bar area is upstairs and is dark inside. Our breakfast was served here rather than in the dining room. There was only 'cafe' food on offer for an evening meal so we had to go out. Staff were pleasant but we felt they lacked training in hospitality.
The peacock that roamed the grounds...
Staff unaware of booking...had to prove it! Bed hard as a brick. Room didn't look like ones on website. Breakfast very late and unappealing, made to wait outside hotel for almost twenty minutes to be let in for breakfast with no apology. Cobwebs all over balcony...100% will not return or recommend this hotel! I felt like we were a total inconvenience.
The view on arrival is nice and the resident peacock was a welcome sight at the door in the morning! Receptionist Ross was lovely and helpful.
Apart from Ross, the staff were children and had no clue what they were doing. the reception is never manned so always a wait for staff. the wifi did not work at all at any point during our stay. The room looked nice but was dirty, the whole venue seems in need of a tidy up and is just tired. Bathroom old and needs a refresh. Breakfast is a shambles and although only 8 people in the restaurant when we were trying to eat the food went as soon as they placed it out as they just bring out around 4 slices of a toast a time and a few bits of bacon etc. Overall for a £110 this hotel is way to expensive. If I'd paid £65 approx. I probably wouldn't have minded but only £20 less than the 4 star Buxted park just up the road.
Forgot my shaving kit and they went out and bought replacement so I could relax and enjoy my meal. Peaceful and good quality throughout.
Wi fi didnt work well in my room.
The location is very good with beautiful views etc.
The service was non existent. We had to wait 15 minutes for someone to turn up at reception and even then that person only arrived after I had walked through the whole hotel looking and shouting for someone! The general state of the hotel was messy and it could definitely do with a decorative overhaul. Our room was basic but it was clean, again needing an update in decor. The bar area was more of a bar you might find in one's house (a bit like delboy's in 'only fools and horses'). There were no customers at all but loads and loads of dirty glasses overcrowding the tiny bar. Very disappointing. We had breakfast the next morning in the bar area - not sure why it wasn't in the restaurant. The breakfast itself was average at best - a minimal selection of cereals on a very small table with one jug of milk and one jug of orange juice. The cooked breakfast wasn't great with everything overcooked. For what we paid for the night (£110) the place was a complete let down and not worth half the price we paid. Sorry to be so negative about a place but this hotel is in a fantastic location and could be an absolute gem. The state it is in at the moment, coupled with the very lax service, takes it a million miles away from being that gem.
