It was an ideal stop-over location for an inexpensive break on a journey south from Glasgow after work. The staff were friendly and we even got to play pool for free in the bar.

Excellent, friendly staff. Good food in the 'Tavern'. Free WiFi. Comfortable beds. Spacious room (double). Decent TV set. Very good value for money. Location easy to find and access from M6. Ample car parking. Decor dated. Breakfast on the 'adequate' side rather than awesome. Location is practical rather than scenic.

We can recommend this independent hotel. The reception staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are comfortable, sound proof and have thick curtain so you dont wake with the early monring sunlight. Tea and coffee in rooms with a country pub in the building. Full english breakfest is light and not stodgy like so many. Lots of free parking, a good place to spend a weekend in the coutryside. Lots of farms nearby with sheep and cattle. Farm stalls and nurseries in vacinity, with a Roman museum in Preston and castle in Lancaster. Beachfront parade in Morecambe Bay. As the country pub is designed slightly seperate be assured there is no noise or interference to the hotel guests. Seperate entrances. The rate is really good for what you get- average of £50 for 2 people per night incl. breakfast. A small point - no hooks in the bathroom for towels or clothes. Bathroom has a large triangular bath in it-plus point.

Everything was excellent. Will stay there again. Good value at £50 per night. Did not have breakfast there as it seemed expensive. Liked corner bath and spacious room with seating area.

Reasonably priced, convenient hotel with a very nice freshly cooked breakfast. Was a very mild evening and the room radiators were on full when we arrived. The public bar area too was very hot.

Location Very 70's feel to the hotel. Rooms were tired and lamps were odd. Tv with dvd was good, when it worked! The bathroom needed updating and the grouting around the bath needed replacing. I was very disappointed with the cleanliness of the toilet. ..Needed a really good scrub :( towels were worn and had threads hanging from them.

The decor and comfort of the room were to a high standard, but low level (poor) lighting made it very difficult to read

Although booked mainly for the price, I liked the 50s/60s decor of the main hotel. It was a bit out of town but the bar food was plentiful and basic. Distance from nearest town was a bit far to walk in the dark.

The meals were beautiful. A lovely welcoming bar and meals area. The staff were extremely courteous, well presented and only to pleased to help. The lino flooring in my bathroom lifted when I opened the window.

This hotel was excellent value and provided all the normal facilities your would expect from a hotel. In terms of value I would rate this hotel above the 'chains' and the service was more personal and friendly than general. I found the bed rather uncomfortable although this might just be me.

The location is very good. Staff great. My wife and I didn't spend a lot of time in the hotel, but it was homely. We are about to book again soon as we are going to a concert in Blackburn.
