no lights in room, no toilet paper, loud neighbours, staff trying but had not a clue

Food excellent I recomend the pizza. Maybe you could do a themed night. Hotel clean and comfortable would stay again.

Good value for money. Friendly host - we arrived late - stayed back to make sure we were able to get into our rooms.

Very friendly atmosphere, and very obliging staff. The room was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was very good. We throughly enjoyed our stay. This Hotel would be a great location for a wedding os simlar do. The grounds and general facilities are wonderful.

Some rooms could have been warmer

Noisy, Room cold when arrived heating turned off. One set of towels in a single room ! Toilet & tea coffee items not stocked up. Saw one staff member on arrival, after some rousing none after! IN A TWO NIGHT STAY.

The Friendly staff member- we only met one.

The member of staff who signed us in was extremly friendly and helpful. The room was good value.

The breakfast was ok, except for the coffee which was really horrible.

The sheets were clean. Bed was strangely comfortable. Plenty of storage drawers.

On arrival, we were not told what was available and what needed to be asked for ie hairdryer not in room, where breakfast would be and what time in morning. No way to secure anything valuable in room. Bath was mentioned but there was only a shower. Hair was in bathroom basin. Toilet seat was wobbly. Light did not work above desk area. Carpet was old and stained. Curtains were old, shabby and dirty looking. Heating was not controllable and was totally off in the night. Windows were drafty. No phone in the room although there were instructions on dialing from one. Large kettle in room but no way to fill from small bathroom basin. No breakfast menu, so did not know what was available. Breakfast included toast that could only be described as warm sliced bread. Egg was burned. Coffee tasted like it had been placed in jug and left on hotplate to burn. No juice.

The warmth, friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Comfortable bed.

Shower was weak and pathetic. No milk for tea & coffee. The room was extremely dated. The window had not been cleaned. In need of refurbishment. Make sure you've eaten something because come 9 o'clock at night there is no way of getting anything to eat. Breakfast starts at 7:30 which for me was too late

It was basic but very clean. I stayed for two weeks and was very comfortable. Food was excellent. And I will be staying again for two weeks in February.

The only thing I would say that could be improved would be the power of the shower.

broken shower as mentioned in earlier review,asked for early morning call 7 o clock this didnot happen breakfast paid for but restruant was not open untill 8:30. half an hour late and still no food contacted hotel to complain but no reply

The noise late at night by fellow guests. Lack of parking space.

The staff were friendly and helpful. One small complaint was dealt with fairly quickly and resolved. Also the parking arrangement suited our needs very well. The food in the 'Italian restaurant' was first class.

The staff were very helpful and easy going. Great for a budget...I didn't have a lot to spend but was very happy with what I got.

We stayed one night last year after driving from Geneva and then Calais- Dover ferry, after which we knew we would be ready for a stop before continuing our drive in England. We thought the Croft was well situated, the gardens well maintained and the whole thing had been planned with care. We were particularly impressed by the sea bass and its accompanying vegetables - superb fresh produce well cooked without affectation. We decided to repeat the experience this year and were not at all disappointed.

It is under-advertised. People coming from Europe know nothing about Ashford, so it needs to show up on the web as hotels near dover and tunnel. It is quite hard to track down. For this reason there were few signs of other people staying in the hotel which gives zero ambience to the dining room both at dinner and breakfast time. And maintenance is less fastidious than design - the staff are clearly doing their best but standards over dripping taps etc. are less than perfect. But cleanliness is excellent. Staff are friendly in a slightly off-hand way (far better than the usual smarmy sycophancy but a little more positive energy would not go amiss) or lack experience. The doubling of cook, waitress, reception etc. is quaint. The hotel really needs to advertise better to attract people to its excellent restaurant which deserves to be full every night - and the wine needs to come up to the standard of the food. The cooked breakfast was fine, if modest by British standards but the "continental" alternative was a bad joke - a few cereal packets and long life juices. Crofts can aim higher and perhaps charge more - though even better if they can offer what they come close to while retaining the bargain prices.

The restaurant was of a good standard at a reasonable price.

The room was basic but clean, however there was no hot water for a shower (room 22 ) at 5.30am!!

The hotel was very convenient for the channel tunnel.The rooms were clean and comfortable - although there were no towels in the room and we had to ask for them. The Italian restaurant next door meant that we could eat without travelling further.

There were no towels available on arrival, and no hairdryer. The following morning there was no staff available to check out, which made us very late, but worse - when the receptionist arrived, he looked unkempt, told us he had fallen asleep and was extremely rude to us, saying that missing a train connection "was nothing", and "haven't you ever fallen asleep at work?"!! Courtesy costs nothing - the rudeness was unacceptable
