I enjoyed my stay at Cromwell Lodge very much, nothing was too much trouble for the staff in fact the staff was the best I have encountered in a long time. The food was always good, hot and well presented.I Shall certainly go there again. I stayed in a single roomwhich had a padded stool but not a chair, my daughter was in a single room also but that did hav a chair. There is free parking but this is in a public car park, it would certainly be a plus to have their own car park

Very pleasant stay very handy for Banbury town centre. Excellent food and very friendly and helpful staff. Room was a little on the small side but it was only a single and was for one night only and as the rate was competitive it was fine.

Good breakfast. Different to chain hotels, and could be considered "quaint". Hotel does not have 24-hour reception, despite this being shown on their booking.com page. I advised on my reservation that I would arrive at 1am - no contact from hotel to say that this would be a problem. I actually got there 5 minutes early, but was nearly locked out. Phone went to answerphone, and I had to knock on the window. The barman was just finishing up for the night and let me in. Another 5-10 minutes, and I would not have had a bed for the night! My room was at the front of the hotel. Old windows are attractive to look at, but don't isolate the noise. After a late night, I didn't really want to be woken up at 6am by delivery trucks etc.

We've stayed here four or five times in the last few years. We book online and get great savings and normaly treat ourselves to the upgraded room. This time we were lucky enough to get the superb room 23, which is lovely, and especially special as it was my partners special birthday, which topped her special day off brilliantly, so thank you. It's all good, as far as we're concerned.

The hotel is in a good location and the room was large and comfortable. A colleague however had a standard double and complained his room was like a box. The bathroom shower wasn't attached to the wall so had to hold it when showering, and it made a massive mess. Also, on check in I was told the wrong times for breakfast so missed it.

Staff, when found were friendly and helpful, but finding them was a challenge. Maybe some sort of bell is needed at Reception.

Very little. We booked the "superior room" - which turned out to be a joke. The towel rail in the "luxury bathroom" was hanging off the wall, the slip mat for the inside of the bath was absolutely filthy and a health hazard, the tiles had black scum on the grout and it had a disgusting shower curtain, the towels had to be left on the bed, the three bulb ceiling light had one bulb functioning, there were stains on the one easy chair to sit on even though it was a double room, etc etc. I telephoned the duty manager and had us moved to a different room which was only just acceptable but as there was a language problem gave up trying to get any better sort of response. Whilst he was very polite as were the rest of the staff the experience was apalling. We stayed in for dinner another mistake the food was okay and just about edible but the surf and turf had been warmed up and had obviously been cooked some time before also the batter on the prawns was the sort you use for fish even though it was in the menu as tempura. A thoroughly awful experience which we would neither recommend or wish to encounter again. We travel extensively all over the world and have done for business and pleasure for years. We can honestly state this was the worst hotel we have ever stayed at.

We only stayed one night, organised at the last minute as a getaway. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was a good size, clean with a huge bed. The building is obviously and old building and our room demonstrated this very well with a slopping floor in the bedroom and a bathroom floor that slopped in a different direction! Breakfast was great, one having a full english, the other eggs benedict. Recommend either. The only slight problem we had was our room had a flight of stairs above us and literally across one corner of the room above the wardrobe and being an old building the stairs creaked when in use. Not much of a problem and wouldn't stop us from using the hotel in the future,

Easy walk if you havent a lot of luggage from the Station. Good parking if you need it. Pleasant staff and checking in speedy and friendly. I had a single room facing the main street, thought it would be noisy but the secondary glazing blocked a lot of the traffic noise out. I would stay in the same room again. The shower needed attention as water dripped constantly so I reported it and hope it it has been fixed? Breakfast excellent but I found it a little dark in the back there, same in the dining area on some tables. Disappointed in the food, quality of the beef in the pie not good but vegetables excellent (unusual these days). Waiting staff were lovely, young new but so obliging and friendly. My son gets married in November and I would happily recommend your hotel to guests if they need it and I will stay there again as I love Banbury. My son will live in Bodicote. Thank you.

Thank goodness we only booked for one night!! I booked on the internet as you know and we never go lower than 4*, how were they ever rated 4* I wouldn't give them 2*We have never had such a terrible NOISY stay when we have booked with you before. I uinderstand there was a wedding and disco - but I think we should have been advised when we booked - it was too late to elsewhere as they already had our card details. The room was terrible, so small and dingy, please let me know if at all possible how they got 4*. I have never wrote a bad review before - perrhaps we were just very unlucky with the cromwell!! regards eileen and chris slamaker

Clean room and helpful staff. Central location to shops and all amenities. Unfortunately our room overlooked the wedding marquee, and we could hear every word of the speeches. We had to go out early and come back late to avoid very loud disco. We were not warned of this when booking.
