We only stayed one night but would have loved to stay much longer. Situated in a lovely area, close to the lovely array of shops and lovely walks around the town. We hope to return very soon but for a longer stay. Staff were lovely and so helpful. Beautiful Breakfast to set you up for the day. Very lovely cosy hotel. Thank you.
It was ok
As I said it was ok.
Good location. Staff were good, just very rushed as there wasn,t enough of them. Breakfast good.
Standard of accommodation poor- the rooms were very tired. The bathroom was tiny and again very tired, the window didn,t even shut. The room had a very musty smell. Overall, not impressed.
The staff were friendly and the location ideal for our purpose- easy access to motorway for onward journey to Birmingham.
Although the staff were doing their best it was obvious they were overstretched. We had to wait about 10 mins to be checked in and on the Sat eve there was only one person serving on the bar with about 40 people drinking and/or eating.
having spent the past 3 days looking after our 3 young grandchildren this was our "brief respite" on our journey home....the room was comfortable, the staff welcoming, food wonderful....a really pleasant stay...will return !
what wasn't to like ?....
This was our fourth stay at the "Cromwell" and it is just perfect for us - we'll stay there again for definite.
Good breakfast Large room Friendly staff Large comfy bed Nice shower
The room could do with a little tlc decor wise. Cobwebs and odd coloured ceiling with patches. Mould and peeling ceiling in the bathroom.
The room where we were to eat dinner was very inviting and warm
The young woman on duty kept dashing about shrieking that she was overworked. Had to jump out of her way twice because we seemed to be in her way.tried to order steak meal she shouted that there was no steak. We went back to our table to look at the menu again. She suddenly appeared and announced in a loud voice that there were steaks. We said we thought we might go somewhere else to eat. She seemed delighted and shouted 'you do that' When we returned we had to walk past her at the bar to get to our room. She glared at us as though we were the enemy. It was like something from Faulty Towers. We have no idea why we were singled out for such animosity. All other staff were very professional and helpful
Lovely service - a particularly warm, efficient and friendly welcome from Holly who deserves special mention. A spacious room Comfortable bed Powerful shower Free parking Tasty breakfast, freshly cooked which is so much nicer than a hot buffet. Great value B&B deal
Extremely tired room décor for a so called 'superior' room - stained paintwork on ceilings and shoddy wallpaper that was hanging from the ceilings in places. A somewhat 'stale' feel and smell to the room. Very slow service at dinner (there were only 4 diners!). Completely ignored and therefore left before dessert and coffee as none was offered. Scampi served was warm rather than hot which was a shame. Ordered coffee in the bar afterwards but it was tasteless (waitress was having a problem with the machine she said) so we did not drink it but paid nevertheless. All in all we received value for what we paid - but would have been very unhappy if we'd paid rack rate for such a poorly maintained room.
have stayed at Cromwell a few times now.staff are lovely.will always stay there when in Banbury.have also stayed in whatley hall next door hated it
staff work so hard they could do with extra staff. poor aled was barman, receptionist, waiter and chef and he done it all very well
All good thanks
Late serving of meals due to a wedding - after 6.00 PM with 45 minute delay.
Cold shower which was fixed after 2 days
We stay here every year. Aled and the team made our stay very enjoyable. Meals were excellent. Lovely open fire in the lounge bar! Situated right in the centre of Banbury.
friendly staff helpful when room was not suitable good choice at breakfast
Easy to town pubs an clubs
Friendly and professional staff, great food and a relaxing environment.
Our room was a little small, everything else was good!
Pleasant staff, warm surroundings. Not too much plastic in the fittings. Very good breakfast, quality and quantity.
Unable to have dinner due to a seasonal function. There appeared to be no historical information, concerning the building, available.
Bed was comfy.
Lots! I wouldn't stay here again
Not being able to stay at the Hotel for a meal due to Parties. Being Kept awake till 11.45pm Could not get to the bar for a drink. Tried to ring down for service, rang 3 times with no success. Breakfast was warm to cold, we both left it. Having a Cleaner hovering only feet away from the Breakfast room, then there was a smell of bleach where another cleaner was mopping The Toilet in the room had signs of poo in the bowl The Hotel should have warned you, and then warned us of the parties which were right outside our Bedroom windows
If you like modern hotels like the Holiday Inn Express then this isn't for you. This hotel has character and features, welcoming friendly staff, amazingly comfortable beds and a lovely breakfast. Visited this hotel at least 5 times this year and it has never let me down.
There's nothing not to like.
Pleasant hotel with good facilities and food
the comfortable bed , Friendliness of staff, cleanliness of room
the room was very hot....so much so you had to open all available windows and doing so all you could hear was the very noisy traffic outside....i had very little sleep. Also at 7 am someone was having a shower and it sounded as though they were in our room ...not good value for money
