A family-run bed and breakfast situated a 15-minute walk from the centre of Banbury, Ashlea has free Wi-Fi throughout, thoughtfully decorated bedrooms and an inviting breakfast menu.
Score from 107 reviews Excellent
The character of the hotel was interesting, it was clean and the breakfast was good.
The room was very small and very noisy as it was on the main road. Although the weather was mild, the radiator was very hot and could not be turned off. When reporting this to staff they said to open the windows!
staff very friendly location very central
kettle leaked and dangerous couldn't have a sandwich as don't do them on a sunday door wouldn't open from inside room why have room service when what you would like to have after driving 250miles you cant should be listed as no more than a bed and breakfast
Everything one needs in a town centre hotel
Friendly helpful staff good location town centre and other facilities close by.Breakfast good.
Only stopped one night so did not have time to find anything wrong.
Staff were very attentive and helpfull, Beata in particular seemed to have the abilitiy to remember all the guests names and nothing was too much trouble.
Most things Friendly staff Breakfast was good too
Not much apart from its proximity to the shops, pubs and restaurants of Banbury which is a very nice town.
The staff were extremely helpful. Our room was quiet and very comfortable. There was a variety of breakfast choices and the quality was excellent.
The staff and the food were very good
a very small and noisy room
Staff very friendly and helpful
Due to lack of staff waited quite a long time for meals but have to say there were well cooked and piping hot
Staff - excellent and friendly Food - good value Location - close to Banbury centre, easy access to main routes around Oxfordshire
Couple of minor flaws in the room, broken window catch, wardrobe light.
The location is excellent and the staff try hard.
The bedroom was tiny with oxfam style furniture. The floorboards are so loose they squeak and the dressing table rocks as you pass by. There is mould in the shower.
The staff were friendly and there was a decent car park once you avoided the scrapped cars on the approach to it. The food was acceptable.
This place really needs an awful lot ot attention. The decor is very tired an knocked about, a busy road and noisy locals made it difficult to sleep .Suggest hard hats are given out on entering the building.
The staff, particularly Beata, were very helpful and friendly. It was pleasant to have a drink in the garden before dinner, and the general ambience of Cromwell Lodge was inviting. Room 17 was a good choice of room overlooking the garden (as long as there wasn't a wedding reception going on, as noise would have been a problem). Breakfast was excellent. Very good value for money.
We were looking forward to the Sunday roast dinner, but by 7:00 the beef option was already finished.
All round good value for money in a very central location. Very good breakfast
Shower head was broken
Helpful staff, good service, good food, good English breakfast. Free Wi-Fi (connectivity via the cloud, takes a bit of setting up but after that it works perfectly) Very close to centre of Banbury. Free parking around the back of the hotel was a real plus in a busy place like Banbury. You won't be disappointed.
Small bathroom, particularly the shower cabin was a bit on the small side.
Bed comfy Staff friendly Parking good
Small room Tiny shower Small wardrobe Only 3 hangers A little pricy for what we got Poor wifi
Good welcome, better than average breakfast. Decent bar serving Green King ales. Attractive location, free parking and decent green area at the back of the hotel. An excellent and good value alternative to the standard chain run of hotels
Small room (but I think this is normal in England). The (free) wi-fi requires registration (the cloud) which is a bore. No news channel on the TV that I could find.
Staff helpful and my complaints were addressed in a courteous manner
Garden room in need of renovation
The staff were friendly and polite. That breakfast was cooked fresh. didn't have to wait long for food after ordering Helpful
Didn't like the taste of the tap water. lots of chlorine. Path from car park to hotel was crazy paved and very difficult to wheel suit case so had to carry it which was difficult.
The location was perfect for strolling around the centre of town, excellent restaurant, and superb breakfast. Lovely friendly staff.
Parking and nice staff.
Excessive kitchen noise in our room at night, and exceptionally squeaking floors both in our room and above us. Shower a total joke! Mattress completely worn out. Service in restaurant very slow at times.
Power and heat if shower. Bed was so comfy. Room cleaned each day.
breakfast. Thought that's was ok must be fresh. Freezing cold and made us late. Didn't bother with other 2 mornings. Tried dinner. Waited 40 mins for starter. Was ok. Main, well was probably nice if salad had been cleansed properly. Don't like sharing my food with grubs. Shower no good if you over weight absolutely tiny cubicle. No bath. Walls paper thin. Guys next door had drinks with a few friends. Not exceptionally loud yet sounded like they were I our room.
Location to town centre and good free parking facilities.
Slow food service. Poor standard of food ie. packet mash potato should not be available in any restaurant. Our room had a shower in the bath directy in front of the bathroom window, with no blind and not very private. Also the window wouldn't close properly. (Room 18)
Good location and our superior room was a good size
Had to involve maintenance for bathroom prior to use so facilities not properly checked. Steep stairs with very low ceilings
