In a prime location in town and the inn was old and quirky. The breakfast was the best we have had anywhere and was all local produce.
The road was very noisy through the night with loud drunken girls/boys. The room was like a glorified closet it was so small. The bathroom was too small to dry yourself with the door shut and the shower door only half opened as it crashed into sink. The bed and pillows where hard and the noise from the bar below was unbearable until we told them to quieten it down at 12.20am. Then the cleaners started approx 6.30am scraping chairs about on flagged bar floor making it unable to sleep.
Great location and atmosphere. Very friendly staff.
Bed was great Breakfast was lovely
Ends missing off the curtain rails The room needed some tlc
The ambiance is lovely.
Nothing really, the wifi is a bit hit and miss.
staff were very welcoming and friendly, room was clean & tidy.
mattress was very uncomfortable and the noise from the street was bad. no Internet password was given , I think it would be a good idea to put it in the book in the rooms.
breakfast very poor wifi. not available
Excellent location 2 minutes walk from the centre of Shrewsbury. Very friendly and helpful staff. We had a good sized room with a comfortable 4-poster bed. Friendly bar/restaurant with a good menu. Saturday's breakfast was an excellent full English.
Bedroom and bathroom were dusty. One curtain was stained. Somme of crockery was stained and chipped. Wi-Do did not work at all over the 2 days of our stay. Staff were apologetic, but could not get it working.
Friendly staff and a great location, fantastic full English breakfast to set you up for the day. The room was clean and tidy.
We didn't appreciate chairs scraping on the floor below us,thus waking us up every morning at 7am! We, along with others, couldnt get the WiFi to work.,Would have preferred to be in another room preferably one not above the bar as the noise was constant until about 11.15, which we didn't know about prior to booking.
We liked the location in particular, it's a great spot in town with interesting decor combined with quality comforts. We liked the garden to the rear with heated outdoor area, very pretty and would be even better in spring and summer, although in winter it has fairy lights around it and was warm and cosy- a great little extra! The restaurant was cosy and the bar area modern although we were told they are changing the bar area soon to be more of a bar and less tables- the food looked very good and breakfast was really tasty. The bedroom although facing the road was quiet and had a brilliant en suite shower. Although there is no car park there is a pay and display carpark close by with reasonable charges.
We were puzzled by the comments made by the American barman when enquiring about closing times for the bar; being residents we expected to have a drink on return from eating out in the town. He informed us it was Monday and therefore closing early as he said the owners preferred not to stay open late on a quiet night. We accepted this and then were further puzzled when my partner returned to get another drink before we went out for our meal . A different barman asked why we were asking about drinks later on, and was surprised in our answer and said it was no problem as we were residents and they would be cleaning the lines till around 11 pm anyway, He seemed surprised when we explained what we had been told earlier. On our return at 10:45 the first thing to greet us was our American barman saying "that's it , I am not serving anymore" ! luckily another staff member served us so we got our "nightcap" and off to our room by midnight . Although we found this person a bit off putting we did find everyone else very friendly and helpful .
Very quaint, comfortable and in a really good spot for the town. Staff really lovely and helpful and breakfast excellent.
Although we knew this was a wine bar, it was quite noisy as we were right above the bar area and overlooking the road. Obviously not the staff's fault but a loud fight in the bar and shortly afterwards an altercation right outside between a man and a car driver did keep us awake for a while.
Clean & tidy. Staff very friendly. Excellent location
We had no hot water to shower before going out.
Lovely place to stay, very clean and comfortable. All staff very friendly and efficient. Had great evening meal and lovely breakfast.
Location, Atmosphere, Staff, food,
WiFi, shower was not working/faulty and this was not mentioned/left a note when we arrived only when we mentioned it when we checked out they said oh yes you need to to do this and that to make it work..
Nice reception, helpful staff, small room but everything you need! The kind of Inn you would expect in Shrewsbury! Would definitely recommend!
Car parking could be a problem!
Due to a complicated house move we were homeless for a couple if nights. The staff were excellent especially the breakfast chef who made sure I was well fed and on the road early enough to get to work
I'm afraid the evening meal was quite bland but the staff's reaction to this minor complaint (probably down to our personal taste anyway) couldn't be faulted
Character. Good breakfasts. Location. Friendly (mainly) staff.
Broken shower tap making operation difficult/impossible, Basin plug difficult to remove. Incorrect information about breakfast timing.
Very friendly staff, excellent location, lovely breakfast. We would definatly use this hotel again
lovely location, staff very helpful, good food. great rooms
we had a room at the front on the road it was a bit noisy first thing
Great atmosphere, lovely and interesting place to stay.
The cosiness and the character of the place especially our room with its four poster bed! The location slap bang in the centre of town was ideal
In an ideal world it would have its own parking. But that was just a minor inconvenience
We had a great pre Christmas night out in Shrewsbury with friends
The bed! Hard with terrible cheap thin pillows. Room was too hot and bathroom tiny.
The bed The breakfast The staff The location
Breakfast time finished a little to early for a weekend. 10-10.30 would be better on a weekend.
Everything except our room.
Our room was directly above the bar and with Christmas parties going on until past midnight, sleep was impossible. They did offer to move us to another room which was smaller. All other residents apparently had no trouble with noise, so I suggest the hotel should not let room no 2 during the festive season.
Staff were very helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Room excellent as was breakfast. Bar service also excellent. Would recommend to anyone
