This is our fourth stay since June and we love Cromwells. It is very near the town centre, an easy walk to the shops, and there are lots of restaurants nearby if you don't want to eat in Cromwells. The breakfasts are really excellent and all the staff are very friendly. The lack of parking might be a problem but there is a large carpark not too far away. You need to have the right change for it but the staff are quite happy to change notes for you.

Very professional and friendly staff, made me feel very welcome. Even when the restaurant was full on a busy pre-Christmas Friday they managed to provide me with a table at short notice. The room was spotlessly decorated with a period four-poster bed and matching furniture, and a large flat-screen tv. Excellent food in the restaurant, good selection of ales, and great cooked breakfast. One of the best hotels I have stayed in in Britain. Highly recommended!

If you love the character of Shrewsbury you will love Cromwells. You feel as though you are part of the history of the town but with all the mod cons to make your stay comfortable.

We have a city break every year prior to Chritmas and our stay at Cromwell's was one of the more successful partly due to it's location in Shrewsbury. This enabled us to explore the city and also travel to Ludlow by train as the station was only 5 minutes walk away. The facilities and food in the hotel were excellent, I would recommend the hotel to anybody.

The room was bigger, and furnished with antiques in a quirky way- we liked it a lot. It is not a hotel as such- there are guest rooms over a pub/restaurant; there are no public hotel areas, for example, hotel reception is the pub bar. The breakfast was B+B style.

Very noisy from street traffic as window was open slightly, had to close window second night to cut out some of the noise, also we had room above the bar which was also very noisy until after 1.00 am. Nice hotel but probably wouldn't use again in view of its location.

I like most everything about this hotel. Thought it was a little on the expensive side as it is a pub with rooms.

The location and the food The rooms are so noisy I couldn't sleep, there is a lot of night life nearby and it is as if it is in your room, very dissapointing.

I enjoyed the period feel of the architecture, and the quaint frontage, and the fact that it was near to the centre of town, convenient for shopping and restaurants. The room was too small and not everything worked. The reception was in the bar, so to register you have to go through noisy people drinking and shout out your needs. Most of the things I didnt like would come complaints I suppose.

Excellent breakfast and beautiful room with four poster bed very clean and modern interior within an oldy worldy exterior. Shower had too much water pressure though which made it tricky to wash! Would stay again though and have already recommended it.

Arrived to find we'd been given a free upgrade to one of the four- poster rooms, which was absolutely splendid, very well appointed and luxurious, especially at the price. Some reviewers have mentioned that the noise from the pub meant their rooms weren't very restful, we had the opposite problem that there was actually building work ongoing when we arrived so the pub/restaurant weren't open for business at all! So it was lovely and quiet at night - but we couldn't get a drink (or breakfast!). However the management went out of their way to make sure we had alternative breakfast arrangements at a small restaurant just round the corner. Not ideal but a thoughtful attempt to sort a relatively minor issue! I want to give them the benefit of the doubt, as we clearly arrived during some work that had taken longer than they'd anticipated - nonetheless it was a bit shambolic, and I wasn't happy to find there was no hot water in the room in the morning! Overall though the good (terrific room, lovely bed, great price) far outweighed the bad.

It is a boutique hotel, full of character, with very friendly and helpful staff. On a very cold evening, it was warm and welcoming and offered a great breakfast. The shower was powerful and temperature controls worked. The early morning noise from the street outside. The very central location means that the clattering from delivery vehicles can be a little intrusive early in the morning. There is no parking at the hotel, although there is a loading and unloading facility right outside. The nearest parking isn't far away, but it is an NCP pay and display car park. The traffic system in Shrewsbury is mostly one way (including on the street the hotel is on), so you have to go right round the town to get back to the hotel for loading when leaving the hotel.

Lovely english breakfast Pleasant staff Far too hot in the room and quite dusty eg towel rails. We were double booked for the 1st night so had to move for the second one. Inconvenient but they deducted £10 from the bill.

The inn is quaint and attractive and the location is excellent, just ten minutes from the railway and very close to the shops etc. The food at breakfast and dinner was good. The double bedroom was a bit small but comfortable and suprisingly quiet, given how busy Cromwell's is in the evenings. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, we were well looked after and it was good value for money too. We'd definately recommend it to others and would like to stay there again.

Very old timber framed building with lots of character, beams and uneven floors, right in the town centre. Room was small but had everything we needed, very comfortable and clean and a very good shower. There was a little noise from the bar as we were going to sleep and a little noise from the road as we woke up but it didn't bother us at all. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good and we also had dinner which was excellent. We would certainly stay there again.
