Nice spacious reception area.
Sat., night, we arranged to meet friends after a function at 10.30pm we managed to get one drink & then was told the bar closes at 11pm. Is this normal for hotels in Cumbria ? even if you are residents
Excellent menu and food, friendly staff, comfortable room.
Price a bit over the top just for room thought it should have included breakfast.
Ideal stopover on a long road trip. Can't think of anything to complain about. Very handy to the M6.
Couldn't fault the service, location or food (which was heavenly).
The mattress was very soft and resulted in a poor night sleep for both of us....the only downside to a great stay
Location is fine if you want to spend time in Kendal
Rooms were absolutely freezing, more like an igloo than a hotel room. It's all well and good being an eco award winning hotel but when this equates to turning all the heating off in your room, especialy when its freezing outside and you want to get warm after a days shopping, then it's a bit of a joke. It was so cold we couldn't even stay in the room and went straight down to the restaurant...only to find that the radiators in there were turned off as well. Room had just about aired through by the time we left the next morning!!!
Really homely atmosphere, with lovely staff, excellent food and superb guest ales. Amazing value for money and a hugely refreshing change from the big name hotels. This place is run by people who obviously care about their customers!
Not a lot....I agree with previous comments about the carpets needing a bit of a clean, but that's about it.
Staff friendly Room clean and well fitted out Good power shower
The light on the fire detector on the ceiling flashed brightly all night and affected my sleep. For only this reason I did not sleep well
we arrived late due to a breakdwon they waited up for us, kept the abr open, really kind
The bedroom was very comfortable, big, with excellent bathroom facilities. The bed was large with lovely pillows. The staff is pleasant and accommodating
Unfortunately, it is not far from the M6. It is not a problem in the winter with the windows shut but maybe noisy in the summer... Breakfast was OK but I believe the cold buffet selection could have been better.
A lovely hotel with friendly staff, excellent food, comfortable bedrooms and well equipped bathrooms.
The hotel was superb as were the staff and facilities. Food was excellent and well served with helpful staff. Good restaurant, bar and general appearance of the hotel. Great room, comfortable beds and well serviced.
Wi Fi reception was pretty dismal but I could put up with that.
Warm and helpful reception/ Well appointed room. Overall efficiency
We were there only for one nite,as a stay over after a linedancing demonstration in selside, but can definitely recoend staying there the staff were so helpful!
Good location as a base for Kendal and Windermere etc. Clean and comfortable with good choices for meals and a well stocked bar. Handy for the motorway as well.
good sized room with a comfortable bed. The food was good and the atmosphere friendly
a dripping noise in the toilet and the meals were a little expensive
Comfy bed, staff were friendly & efficient
Room smelled of damp. Obvious patches of damp in bathroom, black mould behind bath tap, needed re-grouting as most of it had turned black in the damp. Don't think the room should have let in this state!!
All the staff were friendly and helpful, yet never overpowering. Our group voted to meet there again next year!
Lovely friendly, welcome and really relaxing atmosphere, very friendly staff, especially in the restaurant and delicious food. My 8 year old daughter and I will definitely stay there again.
Had a flood in the bathroom as the shower plughole was blocked, but that was the only problem.
Spacious comfortable quiet room. Very good evening meal and breakfast. Try the local Black Sheep bitter! Large car park. Excellent location just off M6. Staff very helpful and welcoming. Very good for a pleasant overnight stay if travelling on M6.
The food was excellent, large portions. Staff were very friendly. Rooms clean and well laid out. Would stay again for longer next time.
I like a hard bed as have problems with hips, so mattress a little too soft. Fine for my husband though.
A modern hotel in a period building, has been sympathetically modernised. Very convenient as a stop over, pleasant setting on edge of village. Bar and restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food. Altogether a good experience
Could be more generous with tea bags!
Everything was great, a very comfortable hotel
nothing to dislike
Very clean and fresh in the new refurbished delux room. Ordered room service which arrived promptly and still hot. Lovely selection as well. Lovely clean bathroom, amazing bath Very comfortable bed
Need to be picky here as was very good for a 3*. Carpet in entrance hall at reception very tatty. Probably would be wise to invest in some other form of flooring here. Poor pressure in the shower
Good food. Good location
