Everything about Cross Lane House was a lovely experience, we can't wait to go back and we plan to have many more mini breaks there. Exmoor is our second home and Cross Lane House is the home from home we will be staying in. J.Frost

Regret that we only stayed one night.

The welcome by the staff and owners. The amazing food including the breakfast. The decor is of a high standard some of which you would see in house and gardens. The price may be a little more than other local places but it is well worth it. The attention to detail is second to none. Thank you

A wonderful haven in the Somerset countryside. Lovely rooms, with lots of added thoughtful touches, warm welcome and excellent service. The freshly cooked breakfasts with lots of local produce were the best we have ever had. Andrew and Max have created a home away from home for their guests.

This is an absolute gem of an hotel. We stayed for two nights in early April and were made to feel so welcome by the owners and staff, who are justifiably proud of what they offer. Decoration and furnishings are of high quality - that very comfortable and comforting English country style. Lots of thoughtful touches like Nespresso machine in the bedroom, crisp cotton bedding, home cooked biscuits, treats for the dogs etc. There was a good choice for breakfast and it was plentiful. We ate in the restaurant on both evenings and were spoilt for choice - everything was well cooked and beautifully presented. As the weather was so lovely we were even able to sit outside after dinner in the covered courtyard and enjoy our coffee, together with our dogs. This is a perfect small hotel and will now be our hotel of choice when we visit the Minehead area.

    We couldn't stay longer!

Warm welcome with and cake. Lovely room with good quality fixtures and fittings. 1545 built with all mod cons added without destroying original features. Just a top notch bouteque hotel.

    Nothing worth the mention.

We loved the attention to detail, if you needed anything it was not too much trouble. Food was fabulous and the service was second to none. A real gem.

Being from the countryside ourselves, we didn't like the road and it did keep us awake on a week night, Friday night Saturday morning was much quieter though. Ask for the Ackland Suite as not directly facing the road.

Max and Andrew are the nicest, friendliest hosts you could ever wish for. We spent two wonderful days at their paradise, breathtaking walks starting at the doorstep, coming back at half 4 to find tea and scones waiting... Lovely dining in the evening....Will definitely return and recommend EVERYONE to spend some time here to get away from it all!

Spacious bedroom, peaceful area with a pretty bridge and hills within walking distance, lots of lovely little touches, flowers, nice smells, comfortable chairs. Felt at home but cared for. An interesting evening meal with exciting tastes. Comfortable bed.

Tiny things really...We could have done with a night light - there are no reassuring street lamps in the country, but we coped with the power light from the CD player and alarm clock. Breakfast was 8.15-9.15 we thought later, that a sleep in would have been nice, but probably if we'd have requested a change of time, they'd have done it for us. Cobbled ground up to the house is picturesque but a bit of a pain to walk over.
