“ Fabulous olde worlde refurb & decor. Very spacious room with extremely comfortable bed. Excellent cooked breakfast and wonderful value for money ”
Simon,
Revesby
Just minutes from exit J18 off highway M4, Cross Hands Hotel is a charming 14th-century posting house with a pub and restaurant, in the heart of the Gloucester countryside. The Queen stayed at the hotel during a blizzard in 1981. Now, its guests can use free Wi-Fi in the hotel's bedrooms and public areas of the building. The charming, oak-beamed Beaufort Bar has traditional ales, tasty bar food and an open fireplace. The Cross Hands restaurant is relaxed, spacious and warm, and its food has an excellent reputation. For those who like spooky history, the cellars were once used to house convicted criminals sentenced to death by 'Bloody' Judge Jeffreys. Hotel Rooms: 21, Hotel Chain: Old English Inns. The most recent booking for this hotel was made on May 22 at 15:38 from United Kingdom.

The room was clean and comfortable. The bar and restaurant areas were stylish, clean and charming. Staff were helpful and polite. The food was disappointing and not very warm. The bedroom was immediately above the bar and extremely noisy

It was close to where I needed to be. It wasn't the weekend; so was quiet enough. The room was clean and tidy. The cloud wifi kept logging me out, but as a regular traveller I know it often does no matter where it is.

Character of the building , very friendly and efficient staff, good beer in the bar and a properly cooked rare steak. I had a fantastic bath - nice and hot and filled really quickly. Interior decor of the room I stayed in was a bit 'bling' and not really in keeping with the hotel. Breakfast coffee was a little incipid.

Convenient. Poor state of repair. Buckets in corridors collecting rain water. Mould on the ceiling and walls in the bedroom. No easy chair or similar to relax in. Mirror to high for short person. Generally shabby appearance throughout.

Good breakfast, and nice quiz on a thursday evening. Some of the rooms are a bit tired in terms of decoration but this may improve when the refurb is done in January 2013.

The hotel was delightful - an old coaching inn with plenty of parking and pub and restaurant on site. The staff were fantastic - kind and helpful and went out of their way to make the stay enjoyable. Our room was spotlessly clean and spacious. Also well located for visits to Castle Combe, Bath and Lacock. The only thing was our shower. (Room 25) It was a bit hard to manage without getting water all over the place. The shower head needs adjustment I tthink. The staff were so friendly and customer focused I know they would have fixed it had we brought it to their attention but it was no big deal and certainly didn't detract from a lovely 2 days at Cross Hands

Friendly staff and excellent price. The hotel needs a refurbishment. Whilst the staff do their best to keep it clean the decor is clearly deteriorating.

Absolutely nothing The hotel is the worst place I have ever seen. When I got to the hotel the lady at the reception was overfriendly, with a very fast and slangy English, with no consideration that I was not a native speaker. After a long wait she finally gave me the keys. We were staying in the room 25 at the end of a long corridor. Since from the beginning of the corridor we could smell an intese bad smell of mold. As soon as we got into the room we were astonished. It was dirty, with hairs everywhere, with a lot of spider webs falling down from the ceiling and the sheets were humid and dirty. The bad smell was so intense that we could barely stay inside the room even with open windows. We wanted to go away and find another place, but the wireless network was out of order. When I asked the lady at the reception she told me there was nothing she could do at that time of the day. It was late so we were forced to stay overnight, we should have stayed for two days, but the day after we immediately checked out and we lost our money... but we were so happy to get out of that hell. Places like this hotel must be closed ! If you don't believe me, please go there, but be prepared to a nightmare experience.

Easy access to several locations that are on my business radar. The dining room , not as much character as I would have expected in an inn of this age.

The historic rambling dilapidated nature and charm of this old coaching inn. The friendly staff and the real ale. The breakfast was poor and the roof of the restaurant leaks after heavy rain.
