Crossways is a traditional Somerset Inn at the foot of the Mendip Hills. There are spectacular views of the surrounding Somerset countryside towards the renowned Glastonbury Tor. The original Inn, which can trace its history back to 1704, was recently extended to create a combination of popular function venue, pub, restaurant and country hotel. The newly opened bar offers a warm, welcoming atmosphere and there are 13 recently renovated hotel rooms. In an area of outstanding natural beauty, Crossways is an ideal venue for business or pleasure, whatever the occasion. Wow! What a stunning place. Stayed one night for business and would highly recommend this idyllic gem. All the staff were very friendly and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. I also had a meal in the bar area, although the main restaurant was closed the limited bar menu was still sufficient, and lovely, with an excellent steak!! Breakfast was freshly cooked and the lovely thick bacon was sumptious. My room was fantastic with all modern and well presented furniture and fittings – all in all I would give it a 4* Hotel rating not 4* INN for its comfort. I was a little apprehensive after reading a couple of the reviews, but can honestly say, cannot find a fault with it from check in to check out!!

Deserved its 4 stars. The live band who played until the early hours of the morning. They we directly beneath our bedroom so minimum sleep and we had a long journey the following day - I would recommend but check if there are any functions going on during your stay

Lovely location ,peaceful. Rooms were of a very high standard. Unfortunately the breakfast was dreadful. There was no fruit on the buffet table just some aweful tinned grapefuit. The english breakfast was also inedible. The sausage was described as local it was of extremely poor quality. The baked beans were also not heinz! I would stay again if the food improved but otherwise NO

The staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. I've never received such good service before. It is clean, modern, comfortable and has great facilities. Everything we were after. This is not the first time we've stayed here either.

Very clean, welcoming hotel and genuinely friendly staff that the big chain hotels do not achieve. Good meals and lovely location. Ideal for visiting Wells and Cheddar as well as other must see locations in the area such as (in our case) SS Great Britain at Bristol and the American Museum at Bath).

cleanliness of room and quite relaxed. Good TV and bathroom lovely ordered a double and got a twin. wifi did not reach room and was minimal in bar plus had to ask for password. Evening meal was ok but very basic - (basic menu that night as it was quiet even though a saturday.) and breakfast buffet was poorly stocked. Had cooked breakfast which was ok but no toast and minimal interaction with staff, polite but not over friendly with exception of lady who checked us out. That said i would still stay again

The staff here were really friendly and helpful. The room we stayed in was very clean, comfortable and functional. The overnight stay including breakfast was very good value for money! The hotel is in a good location for visits to Shepton Mallet, Wells, and the surrounding areas. Some public areas of the hotel looked a little messy. The room we stayed in could stand to be redecorated, although I understand this is a work in progress anyway.

Good food and plenty of it and a very nice bar area and staff. Sadly the room was less than basic... Ie ugh and the walls were so thin if anyone got up in the night for the toilet we all could tell if it was a 1 or a 2 :-/

Inexpensive hotel, comfortable and modern. Very freindly staff, good bar and reasonable Italian style restaurant. It is out of the way down narrow lanes. Breakfast was poor - little choice of cereals and cooked breakfast buffet very limited.

The staff at Crossways were laid back at best, often having to walk full circle to find anyone to take my order/take my raw steak back to the kitchen/clear the table. The dinner was poor, however when compared to the breakfast you would almost think it acceptable. On its entirety the staff/food are well below par. In the morning I was unable to check out as the reception does not open until 0900hrs. Will never go back there again.

We were warmly welcomed even at 11pm on arrival. The member of staff who welcomed us also served us drinks at the bar and was more than willing to keep the bar open for us.The lounge area was extremely relaxing - perhaps soft music would have been more appropriate than having the television on as nobody was watching it, but overall we were more than happy with our reception and the decor. We would certainly visit Crossways again. We thought that one of the kitchen staff could have been more careful about their own cleanliness I.E. dirty overall.was worn outside of the kitchen environment.

Beautiful surroundings and was a good stop off point for visiting nearby attractions. Unfortunately not worth £70 a night. The carpet in the room was worn and only 1 plug socket was available to use which made it difficult for charging cameras, phones etc. Breakfast was limited, they had run out of things and didn't cater particularly well for vegetarians. Although it was a 'budget double' I would have expected a better service for that sort of money.

Restaurant looked nice The room was half unfinished with a dip in the floor which I kept tripping over, the shower was really small and seemed to spray on everything but you. The breakfast was cold and on arrival there was no staff available to book you in so overall wasn't worth the price or a 4 star.

Our rooms were changed and all of our belongings were moved whilst at a business event. I do not expect personal things to be packed and moved without our permission! Whilst making a complaint about this the management had a bad attitude and really couldn't explain why this had been done!
