Good location and nice bar
A little dated in the bedrooms, but clean
Good quality Food, especially breakfast.
Lift not working (wasn't working the last time we stayed either).
Room nice and clean good breakfast
Room too hot only lukewarm water from shower.
Staff friendly& professional , decor , setting, great breakfast.
If there was a criticism I would suggest mixer taps in the bathroom ! Minor nonsense !
Room was well presented. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast very good. Background music suitably subdued. Overall impression of a good old fashioned country hotel. I will stay again when in the area.
The food was excellent.
The drinks were too expensive.
very helpful and friendly staff, interesting old building, comfy lounge chairs, wood burner fires, beautiful towels and bed and excellent breakfast. Ice cream was amazing - best ever.
hot hot hot room, im sure that the towel rail in the bathroom is a health hazard - it was so hot.I had to let the towels cool down before I used them! The dinner was good, but very pretentiously served (wooden board instead of plate and mini dish overflowing with shell on prawns in garlic sauce) and thus awkward to eat. Also the chicken pie was far too seasoned, making the bottom layer of chicken and sauce inedible. Bathroom was shabby and not the cleanest - chipped basin and the bedside lights are impossible to read by - you have to have the main light on to read in bed.
Good service from all the staff
Location, Breakfast, Staff, the Crown has an old fashioned but Classy Style. Very Relaxing.
The Mattress, to soft and could feel Springs, needs a new mattress.
Staff help as much as they can when there is (regularly) a problem with the rooms. Nice location.
Repeated visits with no hot water in the shower. Problem not resolved in subsequent visits. Food expensive for what it is in unchanging menu.
Everything, food, staff, the room and just everything.
A quiet room with a good bath and shower and a very good breakfast
Cars parked outside the dining room obscuring the view
Staff were extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating. Our room was very clean and had everything you would expect from a hotel room (many don't now) ie. ironing board, kettle ect ect
Was a little run down but did not effect our stay in any way and infact was rather reminiscent of a proper hotel. Not a new overpriced chain hotel... You know the ones!!
A friendly welcome Excellent Beer in the bar A really good meal in the restaurant Excellent value for the room and breakfast and very good value for the dinner.
It was minus 6C outside, but that's not the Crown's fault and they gave us a warm welcome.
Very convenient for town and nice outlook towards river. Breakfast was very good and staff friendly and helpful. Lovely fresh linen and towels.
Room furnishings are looking slightly tired and heavy curtains dusty.
The Crown is full of Olde Worlde charm. Room was huge and very comfortable, Staff were friendly and helpful. And the breakfast was amazing! Considering cost was less than staying at the large chain of hotels frequented by a certain comedian, booking here was a no brainer. Already planning next visit. Thankyou.
Slightly more seating in bar area
The location The character Open fires Ambience Pet friendly Presentation of food breakfast was very good for choice Staff friendly No parking fees Direct access to motorway and able to fill up with fuel nearby Good access to visit family and friends
Food served on cold plates, made all food lukewarm (shame because the food was good) More selection on bar snacks and evening meals
Helpful and friendly staff Comfortable bed Quaint village but lots of amenities Great breakfast
Lots of cobwebs round the top of the room and windows
the beds had head and foot boards / rails which mean that a tall person like me cannot stick our feet out of the foot of the bed and we feel cramped. Beds with no foot ends eg divans are better for us.
Really friendly staff and comfortable clean room. I stayed in the hotel for a function and really enjoyed my time there.
The room whilst comfortable and clean was a bit dated. Staff informed me that the hotel is due a refurb in January 2016.
Breakfast good Evening meals good generally staff friendly and helpful
Last evening steak ordered was not good value. Two steaks ordered, one on the set menu and one off the a la carte menu. Both same size but the more expensive one was not good at all, full of sinews.
The staff and food were extremely good and our room was large and comfortable.
There was no hot water for my shower on the Sunday morning but it was only for a short while so i didn't bother complaining
Location of the hotel. Nice staff.
Hotel rooms. They were going to renovate the hotel within a few weeks for half a year.
