The power cut or more importantly not being told that a power cut was likely as the town was being run off a generator.
I liked the location and the friendly staff.
I was not happy about eating food there (with the exception of the excellent breakfast) as I got sick there at Easter when I last visited.
location near to steam fair venue
twin room no bedside locker or light by one bed room ear lift and noise irritating overpriced for quality and size of room decor grubby looking could do with a refurbishment
Great facilities, loved the room and the breakfast was hearty. Staff were helpful and efficient. Room service was quick and most welcome. Would definitely stay again
Its a great location with easy parking. The lounge and restaurant are really welcoming and pleasant to use with big comfy sofas or arm chairs. The food for all meals is very good quality looks fantastic and is very good, and of course being a brewery linked hotel some lovely beer. The staff appear relaxed and friendly but very good at what they do. Its traditional looking but with a kind of relaxed laid back air. The rooms we used were all very good, well equipped and the beds are first class. There is just a nice atmosphere about the place which makes you feel at home .
Some of the decor perhaps needs a lick of paint but doesn't detract from the experience. You need to ask for toast with your breakfast - ok if you know but not if you dont.
location, great food in restaurant ,good beer/real ale selection
mattresses not the best quality. if only hotels would invest in better mattresses like premier inn.
The hotel lived up to my first impression as I saw the building for the first time.Comfort, cleanliness and good food made for a great stay.I would certainly return when in the area
Noisy at 6a.m.! The room could have done with a fresh coat of paint
Great location.Friendly staff. Beautiful building and top facilities.
Location in a pleasant Dorset town that has not suffered too much from the influence of Dorchester. Staff were very pleasant, and it brought back many happy memories as we used to dine regularly at the hotel and even spent the first night of our honeymoon there!!
Sadly, the hotel is looking a little tired in places, our room had clearly had a water leak at some point, I do hope that there will be some refurbishment as the hotel is still rather special.
Superb bed and pillows, and the bed linen was very clean and smelled fresh. Really excellent breakfast. Bathroom and bath linen were very clean. The staff were friendly and really helpful. The garden is lovely to sit in for breakfast, lunch, tea or supper.
It was almost impossible to get mobile phone reception in the building! The decor is quite tired but that didn't affect my stay.
Location Food Plenty of parking. Resturant staff excellent service. Reception staff, who dealt with my concerns without any fuss or bother. Thank you very much. Comfort of room including tea, coffee chocolate etc. hair dryer and iron in room also. I would definitely return again. Thank you.
Unfortunate that there were rowdy wedding guests who kept people awake. The hotel had little control over this issue. All staff friendly and courteous apart from 2 members of the bar staff who lacked , in my opinion , customer service skills, which includes ,eye contact, a reasonable attitude, and which does not make the customer feel as if they are a nusiance. This was discussed with the reception staff on my checkout and I have every confidence that it will be addressed.
Facilities very good everything you need staff nice. Lovely sitting out area to catch the evening sun. Restaurant good
Decor is tired throughout and needs updating
Decor in the room Excellent shower
Allow plenty of time for breakfast service was a bit slow
The staff and location was very good
Very nice room but it was above the bar and the noise came up through the floor during the evening. So it did not quiet down until the bar was shut.
The staff were helpful and the hotel is in a prime location.
The hotel is such a beautiful building, and is very stylishly designed inside. The rooms were very comfortable and of a classic style. The staff were very helpful and genuinely friendly. Breakfast was lovely, and the choice was very good. I had initially gone for a wedding in the area, but now am actually trying to think of a reason to come back so I can stay again!
Staff friendly and professional Good choice at breakfast Large free car park - ample spaces Single room small but adequate Bed comfortable
Blanford Forum prone to power cuts from electrical sub-station so beware if using lift. Noise from cellar chillers Food a bit pricey Hand pulled beer not recommended Shower either too hot or too cold Outside drinks area closes at 11 in evening.
Nice breakfast, good location, dog friendly
The rooms need a little restauration
Friendly and courteous staff, clean and comfortable room. Good food and great location.
Well situated.Very friendly staff. Good food.
The rooms, and bathroom. Happy, helpful staff. Good food. Nice atmosphere. Excellent breakfast.
The food was very good, but we felt that some things were a little overpriced. The a strays on the table outside were not being emptied regularly, so were a bit smelly. The outside area and tables were not always clean.
Staff were very helpful and efficient easy parking Breakfast Good position - easy access for the town
bedrooms were a little small beds had footboards and I found that very uncomfortable
The friendly welcome and attentive staff. Large bath towels. Starched linen napkins. Honeycomb at breakfast and 'soldiers' with boiled eggs. Comfortable bed. Pleasant garden to sit in on a hot evening.
Room was quite spacious, bed and pillows comfortable. Breakfast was very good. Staff were polite.
Was disappointing that after our function was winding down, we were unable to obtain a drink from the bar at just after 11pm. Informed the bar was closed and drinks were not served to residents.
