A very friendly family pub with good beer
Slightly intrusive boiler? Fan noise in room 4 will ask for different room next time
Member of staff was very unwelcomeing
Large rooms, lovely welcome, lovely food.
Blinds in the bathroom need a change.
Friendly warm environment would definitely recommend
staff were friendly and welcoming and looked after us well. The food was delicious - a very good menu .
A really good breakfast.
Cleanliness - carpet in bedroom marked. Cobwebs bedside table. Duvet too small only just covered the bed. Very damp, water running down windows even when open. Stair carpet dirty. Central heating clanking and making noises. Dead flies in windowsill in dining area.
Staff very attentive Food very good Room very clean
Wi Fi did not work in room, only worked in bar /lounge area
breakfast was good.
light switches in corridor not very well positioned.
Food and local larger was excellent. Games room. Rooms clean and comfortable. approx. 20 mins from Alton Towers. Would definitely use again
Early morning cockerel wake up, but there again you are in the countryside!
Great breakfast and pleasant little country location. Ideal for a trip to Alton Towers.
just the right temperature in the room the food was nice
one pillow per person with part of the bed rail missing was most uncomfortable lots of cobwebs in room & at breakfast squashed to the wall shopping ticket in the room and sticky cup mark on bedside table
Rude staff, noisy rooms, general service.
Location for Alton Towers, off-road parking, menu, comfortable rooms
Rooms good for price but a bit shabby and could do with updating - were clean though
Quiet location. Friendly. Good food and service
Knowing this area as a child it was like going down memory lane. My husbands grandparents lived in the house next door to the Crown Inn & were buried in Marston churchyard.Of course the Inn had changed over the years but the accommodation was good, owner & staff very friendly the breakfast was good, it was the perfect setting.
Location is out in the Derbyshire countryside but only a short distance from A50 which takes you to the M6, M1 and A42/M42. Handy for Alton Towers.
Long wait for food service during the Saturday evening not enough staff on duty to cover the bar, food service and all that entails. One family of 5 waited for over 45minutes and gave up. They cancelled their food order and left.
Everything , staff , service , accommodation
We liked the staffs attitude to our needs. We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and the value for money was great.
Friendly members of staff and welcoming.
I had a cold shower and the shower heads didn't stay up. There was a hair in my breakfast and the rooms were extremely small.
Lovely pub in the country side, breakfast was good. This place was a base for going to the races.
Was really too far out from uttoxeter town.
set in beautiful surroundings and served great food just 15 mins away from Alton Towers. The double rooms were adequate for a 1 night stay (Room 6 was smaller than the rooms either side). I loved the comfy sofas in the bar!
the gentleman who rolled his eyes when we didn't want the alternative to the food we ordered from the menu which wasn't available!
Evening meal was of fantastic quality and full of flavour and good value for money.
Extremely slow service at the bar, couldn't keep up with customer demand. One member of bar staff is insufficient to work the bar and book customers in to rooms. It seemed like a lot of effort to get a hot beverage, I felt uncomfortable asking for an invoice as the barman didn't seem to want to help that evening as he had trouble keeping up with the workload. Breakfast starts a little late 7.30am if you are working and have a schedule to keep. I didn't stay due to this.
We loved the service the staff are lovely. The food is really nice. The rooms are extremely clean.
The walls are very thin we could her the guy next door texting!! The smoking area was under our window so we had to keep windows closed even though we were really hot! The cockerel over the road woke us at 5 each morning which was just what we needed after no sleep due to noise and heat!! We came home very sleep deprived.
The Inn was lovely, in a pretty location and ideally placed for Alton Towers - the rooms (we had two) were comfortable and clean enough. The staff were very friendly and the meals (breakfast and dinner) were delicious. We'd definitely recommend a stay at this Inn on this basis ... and would be happy to go back ... but would specifically ask for rooms 1 and/or 2.
Unfortunately we were in a double room next to a really loud and persistent snorer; consequently we weren't able to sleep for more than 2 maybe 3 hours max each night - so you can imagine we were not in the best state to face the days at Alton Towers!! We considered sitting on the sofa's in the lounge, but the doors were locked at night - logically really seeing as it would have meant access to the bar. As there are no staff in the night (or at least none we could find) it meant the only alternative was to either sit in the car or try to sleep listening to music on our iPhones - we opted for iPhones but unfortunately we had to turn the volume up so high to drown out the noise of the snoring, sleep was impossible. I know it's not the fault of the Inn that they have a snoring guest - but it did highlight exactly how thin the walls are. Our boys were in room 2 which doesn't directly adjoin another room; they had a much better stay ... With hindsight we should have thrown them out of their room! Their shower was better too. Yep - we should have swapped!
Staff very friendly and excellent service Food was excellent
