The accommodation was quite basic but the staff were very friendly and helpful
It was quite basic and dated and probably needs a revamp
The attitude of the management The character of the premises The location (NB public transport users)
One has to accept from the start that this is an INN and not an hotel
Bed comfortable & sheets clean. Staff very friendly but not necessarily proffesional. Still it was for one night only.
Cleanliness left a lot to be desired. Laundry lying on dirty floors waiting to be laundered behind the scenes. Breakfast of under cooked bacon on cold plates. Wish I'd paid more to stay in another hotel. I've learnt my lesson on this one.
The owner was rude unhelpful and lied. I would never ever stay in that place if it was the last place on earth!
Made booking via booking.com but no reservation when I arrived.
The photos shown on the website do not at all reflect the reality and run down condition of the hotel. The hotel was untidy, dirty and not worth the money. Stay at another hotel along the street.
Leaving early as possible in the morning
200 characters not sufficient
The location, the Georgian building, the wide stairs, the size of our room (5) and the bacon at breakfast.
After the first night our room was not made up; we were told people did not like it! The lighting was awful. It was not very clean especially in the bar area - carpets, dusting had been neglected.
Hotel was quiet at night and cooked breakfast (though not cerials) was ok.
Unclean..carpets up main stairs. Large cobwebs on windows entrance lounge. Bedroom/ bathroom badly in need of decoration and renewal. Only 1 bedside light had plug nearby. 1 teabag for morning tea for 2. 12inch tv screen unbelievable. Worst was strong green light on all night fitted to ceiling making sleep impossible..told fire requisite. Looked in at White Hart same price for much superior room and no green lights fitted in ceilings ! no proper dining area for breakfast.
The lady on duty when I arrived was helpful
No towels in room when I arrived staff were great though however towels provided were wrinkled and off white
Only the location and the breakfast
The room, the cold, the bed and the bathroom
location and public bar
Very shabby and rundown bedroom, the shower needs updating and the paint work refreshed / brightened up.
Need a thorough clean, shabby and definitely not chic. Not worth the money.
Nothing, terribly rude landlady, I would strongly suggest that booking.com no longer works with this establishment.
Ride staff dirty floors kitchen terrible
Location Friendly staff at breakfast
The carpet was crunchy with dirt, the kitchen the worst I have ever seen. The "ensuite" was a plastic box in the corner of the bedroom which leaked water onto the floor when you took a shower. The bed linen was too small for the bed and so we didn't get much sleep. If we had arrived earlier in the evening I would have tried to find somewhere else. Everywhere smelt of grease and dirt. The building could be lovely with a bit of time and effort.
The bedroom was clean and the bed comfortable. The location in the town centre was ideal for our purposes With ample car parking and restaurants nearby.
The overall decoration was very basic and sub standard giving a 'tired' feel. It was not what you would expect in 2014. The breakfast was only served between 9am and 10am and there was no warning of this when we booked. The bar area was poorly laid out and unwelcoming with basic decoration and furniture. Overall it was like being back in the 1950s!
Very helpful staff
Room very small, Air freshener was overpowering Shower room terrible Bed very lumpy Pillows very thin Bed head falling off bed Wallpaper coming away from wall No evening meals served
Location. Staff were pleasant and helpful
They charged my card before we even arrived and then charged my father for our rooms again. They are refusing to pay me back. hotel is poor the pub downstairs a bit rough. We got followed upstairs by a man trying to get in our room
Decrepit, filthily, tiny, pathetic wc facility, dripping tap, drain smell. door hanging off. Just disgusting.
Location in central Lewes was good and there was parking nearby (free overnight) Staff were friendly
The place was very tired and needed refurbishment The standard of cleanliness was poor Nobody serviced our room. Bed was left unmade 9 o'clock breakfast on Saturday too late for me, as I had to be somewhere by nine. Noisy carousers out in the corridor disturbed sleep on Saturday night.
The building itself is beautiful and could be a wonderful experience to stay there and in keeping with beautiful Lewes. The staff were friendly, informative and hard working.
Where to start! The entrance was tatty and gloomy. The corridor to the rooms were too. I had reserved a twin room but we were given a double room. (Staff very apologetic). The decor was horrendous ! Bright, huge, pink and silver flowered wall paper and matching duvet cover. The bed itself was ok but my friend and I obviously didn't sleep well, due to having to share the bed ! Bedside lamps were also bright pink, with the cheapest plastic, pink stands. But they did work. Windows needed to be held open by wedging toilet rolls. Back wall looked damp. The carpet VERY OLD. Didn't dare take our shoes off. The carpet in the bathroom, (not at all hygienic for starters! ) was soaking wet from, I assume/hope, from a leaking tap. I reported most of these things to the staff and received a £10. Discount. Please spend some money on this lovely building and return it to its former glory. I'm sure it would bring in good returns for your company
