Staff very pleasant and helpful. Liked the historical parts of the hotel. The central location was fantastic. The fact that there was free parking. We were there for a memorial service for a close relative. The room and preparation was fantastic. There was nothing not to like

Easy check in, by a friendly, accommodating receptionist. The room was spacious, well equipped and the bed was comfortable. We enjoyed our meal in the hotel ' Brasserie'. The room was very cold and the single glazed windows did not keep out the wind and noise. The bed would benefit from a duvet, as the blanket did not even cover the double bed, so we were cold in bed.

There to attend a work colleagues wedding Expensive compared to other Hotels recently stayed at e.g. Wychwood Hotel, Crewe, £55.00 per room including breakfast. Hilton Hotel, Leicester £85.00 per room including breakfast. Crown Hotel £88.00 per room Plus 2 breakfasts = £109.00? I understand these are bigger chain hotels but still felt slightly too pricey.

The owner was extremely friendly, my dog was welcome. She changed our room to one most appropriate. In the evening there was wonderful piano music in the bar. The music was not advertised, just there. A classic location ( with free parking), wonderfully understated! Our favourite hotel on our current 3 week tour. Oh, forgot to mention, the food was excellent. Regards t + Flynn (the dog)

The location I am 74 years old suffering from arthritis in both knees and asthmatic. The room I was allocated was on the second floor. There is no lift and the stairs are extremely steep. There was no warning of this on the web site. I will never book into this hotel again and it has left me wary of using Great Western Hotels in the future.

The staft were oustanding - they helped my wife with our little boy and their bags when they checked out. All staff over the 24 hours of the stay were brilliant. Food was also very good - we would use again if in the area for business.

Excellent friendly staff, good breakfast, tired rooms and bathrooms, noisy location in the evening, not quite what we anticipated but adequate for what we needed. For a hotel of this antiquity it lacks quality.

A very nice, traditional hotel that, so far, has not suffered from the curse of a pseudo-antique make-over. It is also a pleasure for non-locals to have it patronised by locals who are ready to talk and give the hotel local colour.

Night porter very helpful Room far too hot. Shower head hanging off.shower/bath switchover not working. When bathroom door shut I found it hard to open, my wife could not open it. Hot tap on sink not secure. No details on how to use phone for internal connection. Unable to watch bbc on tv, picture breaking up. Waited for 20mins in reception to pay,no one showed up, a queue then of 6. walked out, came back 2hrs later to pay, explained all problems, the only one the receptionist seemed concerned about was the bathroom latch, otherwise nothing.
