The original parts of the hotel were lovely and very charming, situated in the middle of the town. We had dinner in the restaurant which was excellent, steak cooked just the way we like it. Staff friendly and attentive.

Although the room was ok it was in need of some TLC, the dressing room ceiling had obviously had a water leak and was stained and mouldy, the bed was a four poster with one of the worst mattresses I have ever slept on and you couldn't view the TV because of the posts and the bottom board, all could be put right easily!

The staff were all helpful and it's a very central location. A welcome change from a bland chain hotel.

The prices of the food in the bar and excellent service

The only thing was that the shower was so low as the bathroom was in the eaves and we couldnt stand upright under shower head

Friendly staff. Thorough cleaning Central locality of hotel with access to places t eat and shop

Room overlooked bar and noise travelled up especially as this was warm evening and I needed the window open. Staff on reception friendly but did not always seem to grasp what was being asked or able to explain things to us.

Hotel is in a great location and good value so it's a great pit stop. We stayed as a place to crash after a festival. Breakfast very good.

If you looking for a hotel 'experience', a nice place to spoil yourself for a weekend - choose somewhere else. There's no 'love' at this hotel, no heart. It's also very dated.

    location, staff

The room was very dated and badly designed, tea making facilities were provided, had to ask for a new kettle, but no use anyway as no electric socket available nearby. Blind was falling off in bathroom and the window was not frosted?

My husband and I stayed here for two nights and were absolutely delighted with it. The four poster bed a delightful surprise and the decorated loo and basin fabulous! The hotel bar was full of olde worlde charm with a very friendly and polite young lady serving. We ate dinner in their restaurant which was delicious and not overpriced. Again the staff were very attentive. Amazing value and lovely place to stay.

TV good, new looking shower and bathroom, great location.

Wifi poor, welcome at reception a bit odd (no-one there, people walking past without helping), not enough milk for two cups of tea.

We loved the friendliness, courtesy and efficient manner of all the staff, where attention to detail appeared to be second nature. The bedroom overlooking the flower bedecked courtyard wad of good size with a spacious bathroom with plenty of hot water for baths and showers.

Everything about it. The pool, bar, food, location, the staff.

Only the 2 things I found fault in was a large crack in the bathroom ceiling which needs attending to & the extractor fan in the bathroom didn't work.

The staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the bar food and the Crown and Cushion beer. Nice little swimming pool.

The changing area at the swimming pool needs refurbishing.

    The pool Friendly staff parking

The Carvery - roast potatoes were like leather (although looked crispy). Breakfast - only 1 member of staff so everyone waited for their tea/coffee - and the buffet ran out - so we waited for replenishment - they needed at least 2 people to cater for the number eating. Lots and lots of steps everywhere - due to nature of building - so beware if you have difficulty walking - make sure you get the appropriate room.

The front entrance and lounge were lovely, and the reception staff were really helpful.

The room I stayed in was at the front of the hotel and the traffic noise kept me awake. The room was so small that the chair in the room was below the TV so I couldn't sit on it. There was no glass in the bathroom to rinse teeth and the cup with the tea making facilities was chipped. The duvet cover was also stained on the outside. I was really disappointed with this hotel.

Rooms clean & comfortable Friendly helpfull staff

Poor insulation in rooms meant you heard every door open and close and everyone's conversation. Food was edible but I expected much better, I've had better breakfeasts from roadside burger vans. Oh, and if its raining you will need a brolly to get to the restaurant from the annexe!

Comfortable, good bar and other facilities.

Menu for bar and restaurant needs makeover. Also fish and chips disappointing. Cod turned out to be haddock and batter not crisp.

The hotel was ideally situated, lovely rooms and bar/restaurant very nice and quaint.

Parking was diabolical, even signs were ignored! Wi-fi code given but still no access! Staff can hardly understand English let alone speak it!
