We stayed over New Year, it was a festive occassion and the hotel and the staff lived up to it. It was good value for money and the facilities it offers are good.

My family felt the hotel provided comfort, relaxation & a feeling of care & attention was being given to guests. The staff look great in their uniforms with the long white aprons, alittle like upstairs down stairs! The hotel has an olde worlde charm & a lovely cobled street area running through it, with decked seating areas with lovely vines & flowers in pots etc where the old coaches would have run through it in the olden days! The food was great, lots of choice at breakfast, good quality bacon & eggs cooked to perfection. The hotel was a good temperature all the time & endless hot water & all towels provided (even for swimming, ask at reception) We loved it, hope this helps. We felt the swimming pool needs some attention, maybe jet wash the flooring around the pool, the changing rooms need decorating & doors in that area didn't seems to work very well. Also the pool may need more chlorine in as you can normally smell it but I could not? This is no complaint about the hotel, but when I booked it stated that it had a sauna & a pool table & it has not. But these two things would be a great to add if possible. The other thing would be the gym needs updating, with less machines in but better condition & the flooring in part of the gym needs work.

The pool. The friendly, helpful staff. The cramped, dingy room. The sofa-bed for our children (aged 12 and 9) was woefully inadequate in terms of size and comfort. Tea/coffee making facilities inadequately stocked.

The hotel and the room surpassed my expectations, the detail throughout the whole of the hotel was nothing short of spectacular, the rustic cosy atmosphere was amazing. My bed was very big and very comfortable with soft and very warm duvet and pillows (must have been goose or duck feathers), it was was extremely clean with quality furnishings, everything we needed was already provided in the room such as iron, ironing board, hair dryer etc. There were lots of lovely places inside and outside of the hotel to sit and relax with a glass of wine. From the moment I checked in to the moment I left, staff were polite and helpful, ensuring all needs were catered for. The restaurant was also amazing and the breakfast was beautifully cooked with a choice of pastries, cereals, juices and fruit with a choice of cooked options from the menu. I had the cooked breakfast which came with the best black pudding I had ever tasted.

A great hotel in a wonderful part of Europe. It is not the Ritz though. It is clean with an excellent staff. However it is an older building in England so this means some accomodation by guests. Rooms vary in size but are all clean. The beds were quite comfortable and the bathrooms good. The meals in the restaurant or bar were good and reasonable priced for the area. It is close to many things in the Cotswolds, Oxfordshire and other places such as Stonehenge, Bath, Bristol, etc., assuming you have a car. Great restaurant pub nearby in Churchill called Chequers...this is a no miss place! If you have a room above the pub or facing the courtyard, the evening noise might bother you. Some rooms have bathrooms with tubs and a shower fixture but no curtain so showering can be difficult (this is a common thing in many places in Europe). Typical to the uk is that the bathroom taps come with a hot water and a cold water tap/faucet thereby be careful of the hot water hurting you. Besides these minor issues, nothing to complaign about. You are staying in an older and smaller place in a wonderful little town....enjoy.

We liked the very friendly, helpful staff and the look of the hotel both inside and out. We ate in the bar and had Sunday lunch in the restaurant, as well as breakfasts, and thought the quality of the food very good and the quantities generous. Our four poster room was a good size and overlooked the side of the hotel - just a view of roofs and cotswold stone walls but it was very quiet. We had the well-heated pool to ourselves in the evening, and also enjoyed a brief read in the very comfortable little sitting room - our only regret was that no log fires were lit as it was rather too early in the winter season! We will definitely be staying there again.

Loved the location, loved the history, the room was great, and the breakfasts were amazing! Please check the shower pressure, because that was the only thing that made the room not perfect.

Loved the quaintness. Breakfast was lovely. Rooms were clean and comfortable. It's not that I didn't like anything about the hotel, but on the several occasions that I inquired with the reception for suggestions of places to go or how to get there, the reception person was not very knowledgable. Also, we had no internet access in the coach house but that wasn't so bad. The reception person said they would look into it and never called us back....

Excellent hotel in perfect location for both Oxford and the Cotsvolds. Really old-fashioned charm at a very good price. The kids loved it (teenagers, who love Midsummer Murders), just like tv and they have a pool.

The hotel is in a good location for touring the Cotswolds and looks attractive from the front. It also has an unusual and pleasant, vine and creeper covered walkway/courtyard at the rear, where there is some seating for taking drinks, etc. The room we had, a four-poster, was not up to the standard that we would have expected. There was a lack of practical storage space, the bedding was very basic and the bed was never made up adequately. (Bottom sheet always crumpled, bed cover left at foot of the bed, etc.) The waterproof mattress cover also gave the impression of a hospital bed!The bathroom was difficult in that there was a bath with shower attachment, no proper shower and, due to the sloping ceiling and short length of the tube on the shower head, it was impossible to have a shower without stooping, or in my husband's case, (he is 6'5") kneeling! We did dine in the restaurant on our first evening and the food was fine, as were the waiters, but the experience was marred by other diners using their mobiles. The breakfast experience was even worse, with not just mobiles, but unruly children disrupting the restaurant. The rear courtyard outdoor seating area, which we had to travel through to get to and from our room in the "coach house" part of the hotel, was actually the area used by the smoking element of the guests and, therefore, not always pleasant to pass through. Although the hotel does have a car park, it does not appear to be adequate for the number of rooms and the parking is very tight! Would not recommend this if you have a larger than average vehicle, or if you are uncomfortable with restricted, parallel parking. Finally, checking out was difficult! During our stay there was rarely anyone on reception and, when we came to check out, the same was true. There is no means of attracting anyone's attention, (bell, etc.), so in the end I had to go into the restaurant, find a waiter who was still busy with breakfast, and ask him to find someone to come to reception.

This is truly the worst hotel in which I have stayed. We booked 2 rooms for 2 nights in July as we were working as the family entertainment organisers at the nearby Cornbury Music Festival and needed to be well rested , clean and refreshed each day for 16 hours of work each day. The rooms were dreadful, shabby decor, ill-fitting windows, mould around the baths, open electrical wires from an uninstalled electrical device in one of the bathrooms, no glasses for water, atoilet that made a loud groaning sound when flushed, buy worst of all the lack of peace and quiet. Both rooms overlooked a noisy smoking area where people were chatting loudly, babies crying and constant footsteps on a wooden walkway. We complained about the noise and were told the bar closed at 1a.M. and that people were on holiday. We moved hotal the next night and the manager refused to see us , was rude on the phone and refused to refund the second night. We will sue.

The Crown and Cushion was located on the High Street very close to all of the shops, Restaurants and bars. The hotel was originally an old coaching inn and was full of original features. The room we stayed in was out of the main hotel, however, it was a good size and was very clean and comfortable. The bar area was very cosy - we were lucky to get the table next to the fire and stayed there all evening. Another plus was the prices of drinks, very much what you would pay in any ordinary pub and you had the added bonus of waiter/waitress service. The staff were excellent, very helpfull. A nice hotel at the gateway to the Cotswolds. The only issue we had and they are minor, were that it was quite cold in the bar area early on till the open fire got really going. Apart from that we enjoyed the stay.

Polite, friendly and helpful Hungarian and Spanish staff eager to please and practice their English An otherwise good full English Breakfast was spoiled by the use of the worst possible type of catering sausage. Sourcing a local butcher would be better, probably for both businesses!
