The staff were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. Pool was good, great for an early morning swim. Breakfast was nice & a good variety on offer. We've just booked a second stay.
Nothing comes to mind.
the room was very clean, spacious with good facilities
Lovely hotel with a grand staircase and lots of character here. Perfect location for trips in and around Carlisle. Nice and quiet spot at night, just up from the Cathedral yet everything else is right on your doorstep.
Unfortunately the whole front of the hotel including outside our room, was covered with scaffold and workmen. If you're out all day it won't bother you.
Its location was great and with a car park ideal for a local holiday.
The Hotel is in need of an upgrade. Not much has changed since I was first there in the 60s. The breakfast was poor and certainly not worth the cost we paid.
The location and breakfast
The basic rooms Rooms need updating Carpets in hallways/stairs need replacing due to dangerous holes
Traditional, guest focused hotel very well situated. Excellent service and a hearty breakfast. Very welcoming, will definitely stay there again.
Difficulty in finding access to car park.
good hotel-difficult initially to find for parking but very friendly
The locoation was perfect and easy to locate. The food was excellent and general facilities were good.
Comfortable but a little dated in the rooms
Shower in bath, bath was very narrow making standing for shower difficult and slippy shower curtain stuck to you.
Very friendly and good service all round - lovely location with view of the Cathedral .
We had a lovely time at the crown and mitre. We had a deluxe room and it had been refurbished to a very modern standard and was very clean and comfortable. The hotel was obviously in the middle of major refurb works but we had a great experience.
Evening meal in restaurant. Good Bar service. Dressing Gowns and complimentary bottled water. Nice complimentary products in bathroom.
A bit dated
The bar, its staff food and drink
The ambiance of the restaurant
The breakfast was very nice.
The bed uncofortable the pool small and it was very noisy.
Good location, great staff and a nice hotel with a bit of old character.
Difficulty navigating the one way streets to find the hotel & the parking facilities at the rear.
wi fi didn't work in room 114 and bacon was not crispy!
LOCATION CLEANLINESS QUIET ROOM
CAR PARK WAS PACKED THERE WAS A WEDDING ON SO TOO MANY PEOPLE AROUND
Breakfast was very good
Original room was very cramped and dated. We requested a change of room. The new room was a little bigger, but not much. Hotel was undergoing renovations and covered in scaffolding at the front.
we stayed in room 303 which was very spacious with very large en suite. Room was very clean and comfortable. A beautiful old hotel with grand designs and is currently being refurbished. Really enjoyed our stay, very close to all the shops and pubs, restaurants in the centre of town and would stay there again.
Car park is very small but it is free
Well situated for shopping and close to the Scottish border for travel onwards.
The front of the Hotel looked drab and dismal.
swimming pool was very nice
breakfast was a bit lame
The location and the staff
Room 141 is probably the smallest hotel room I have ever been in, more like a single with a double bed
rooms were lovely and clean, room service was excellent, and breakfast was top quality
on arrival we were given room key and on walking in we found our room still being made up, had to wait in bar for another 45 mins and werent even offered a complimentary drink
We booked a double room which had a home-y, cosy, (grandma's living room feel). The room was clean, and the staff were very polite and helpful.
There was no fridge. The decor was very dated. The heated radiator didn't heat up, and there wasn't much of a vent in the bathroom. Also, our double room was soooo small, it felt like they definitely crammed too much furniture in as there was hardly any walking space. We were awoken each morning by slamming doors (as the walls were very thin!)
