Great place to stay - the staff were helpful and the gentleman on reception is an absolute gem. He helped me work out where I was going the next day, checked routes and times and just went more than the extra mile. Thank you so much; I got where I needed to be in good time. I hope I will be able to stay at the Crown & Mitre again some day
Helpful,friendly staff.Nice overall Hotel
When staying in the rooms by the car park the windows rattle when it is windy which caused me to keep waking up.
Great location, own car park - my room was 301 - nice view of the Cathedral & quiet, too Just remember the post code for the car park is CA3 8HB - which Booking.com do tell you
The staff the standard and the food
no mention when booking of building work along the front of the hotel, despite requesting a quiet room I was given one right by the works
bed on the soft side, restaurant staff brusque
The pool was an added bonus and at the end of a long day it was so good to unwind with a swim before my evening meal. Jewel in the crown of my stay was that I had the pool all to myself for a truly wonderful peaceful time of relaxation. Bliss.

Was there for Cumbria Half Marathon very central close to registration start and finish, Pool and Spa relaxing
staff. style of building both inside and out.position of hotel in city center. free parking.bed was nice and clean. some of the public rooms were archietectually quite impressive. (I know arch------ is spelt wrong).
our room was small and looked out onto a scruffy flat roof with air con units. there was a of thick layer of dust on many ledges, and particularly on the carpet between cabinets, bed and wall. there was mold around the bath taps and shower valve. the tile grout needed redoing the toilet seat was broken. one of the electric sockets was loose and another not working. the carpets in the public area were thread bare in places. availability of food at breakfast was a bit hit or miss.
Great location for everything good facilities in room very large comfy bed. Liked the wifi all over.
Very difficult to get to as city one way!!! We had to ask the police in the end who took us round!!!

Excellent city location on the square with good facilities despite being in the throes of a refurb during our midweek visit. Swimming pool worth a visit and a good breakfast after !
On arrival at the hotel we were greeted by friendly and helpful staff. They guided us to the not so easy to find car park. The rooms were very comfortable and well equipped. Food was first class and the service brilliant. Will be staying here again.
