“I found all the staff at The Crown to be polite, proffessional and helpful at all times. The room was very clean and comfortable. The Crown has a superb selection of real ales which are perfectly kept and served. The restaurant had a fine selection of foods to choose from and 'The Butchers Block' is such a great idea.I Only stayed for the one night but both my dinner and breakfast were extremely good quality. I would definately stay at The Crown again.”

With wonderful views of the Lancashire countryside, but just 5 minutes from highways M6 and M61, this traditional inn offers free Wi-Fi, delicious food and an impressive selection of real ales. Situated between Chorley and Wigan, the Crown At Worthington has a beautiful, peaceful location, within easy reach of the region's major road network. The well-furnished and comfortable rooms are beautifully decorated and furnished with TVs and tea/coffee making facilities; they also have private bathrooms. Fresh fruit, power showers and feather pillows are available on request. The inn has won several awards from CAMRA (the Campaign for Real Ale) and the well-stocked traditional bar offers 8 regularly changing cask ales. Meals are freshly prepared using locally sourced ingredients, with the Butcher's Block steak counter allowing diners to choose their ideal cut. Breakfast is served in the sunny conservatory. The Crown is family run and your hosts, Daniel and Tracy Prince, pride themselves on offering a warm welcome and a relaxing, homey atmosphere. The evening meal The room was cold, i had to put my coat on the bed to keep warm the heating was totaly inadequate, the shower was either to hot or cold. Breakfast was served in the conservetry, no heating was on I was so cold I could not eat my breakfast, as a result I would only stay there in the summer. If these issues were put right it would be a nice stay, as a result i shall consider alternative accommodation in future.

Just about everything, which is why this was a repeat visit. Food and real ales particularly good with ever-changing menus for both food and ales. Smoking shelter could do with a clean up (ashtray change, etc).

Absolutely nothing. I was most disappointed with the accommodation, the bedspread was showing signs of age and the decor left a lot to be desired, the shower did not work properly unless it was lowered to a level that made showering extremely difficult. The cleanliness of both room and en suite was very poor.

Everything about the place was spot on. Courteous, helpful and friendly management and staff, natives also friendly, brilliant choice of real ales, top-hole restaurant meal with plentiful choices. Off to bed in a clean, comfortable and spacious room - didn't hear a thing all night, which is amazing for a pub location. Breakfast times excellent (7.30 - 9am) and breakfast kept me going all the way back to Norwich - liquid refreshment only required on the journey. Actually went there for football at Bolton, but would be good for matches at Wigan and both the Manchester clubs, plus Liverpool and Everton. Just get the train back to Wigan and it's £8-9 in a pre-booked taxi. Definitely intend staying again - only problem is getting match tickets!

Big selection of Ales, Excellent food, great breakfast at a cheap price, large beer garden with smoking area (undercover for if it rains which it did when I was there). Room was excellent and comfortable, nice views out of the window. Staff were all very friendly and had a nice full english breakfast with a whole jug of Orange juice to myself given to me! TV in room was small, about 14 inches, but the quality was crystal clear and had all the freeview channels.

The location was good, easy to reach and close to where we were going on Sunday. The room rate was very reasonable and the breakfast was worth £5.95 each. A good selection on drinks and food available at the bar and restaurant. The room could do with some tlc as the decorating looked a little slap dash, also the bathroom was a little dirty and there was a loud banging door directly outside bedroom number 10, which disturbed us both morning and night, plus creaky floor boards inside and outside the room.
