I loved the building and atmosphere. The area was accessable to everything. The staff were very helpful and attentive. I loved the authentic old bits of the building. The bathroom was not practical. Although I did not have a problem with the cleanliness, the bday could not be used, the soap dish was hanging off of the wall, there was not any instructions how to use the shower. All in all the bathroom was a complete disapointment. I also found that the hospitality tray was not easy to use. The duvet's were horrible as they were old. The hairdryer was not useable. All in all I think it was a lovely location, building with excellent staff that were being let down by obvious oversights.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful building full of character. Very clean with excellent facilities. Lovely food and lovely location. Felt very relaxed. We also took advantage of the lazy Sunday checkout which I thought was excellent value. I wanted to return in May with other friends but unfortunately the receptionist informed me it was company policy that at weekends it was a minimum of 2 nights stay. Even though I was trying to book 2 double rooms with evening meal, breakfast and Sunday lunch.

This is our second very successful stay at a Best Western Hotel with our pet Viszla. We are thrilled to have found a hotel chain that welcomes pets but still maintains the high standards of hygiene and comfort we expect. Previously we have had to arrange dog sitters in order to have a hotel break but now we are able to enjoy our breaks far more with our well behaved pet with us feeling confident that he is welcome and that the room will be large enough to accomodate both us and his pet bed without feeling cramped. I also appreciated the character of the building and classic styled furniture. The staff were very friendly, welcoming and gracious at all times. We had no complaints at all and would always try to book with Best Western first for any future trips.

The rooms were very basic for the price and the floors creaked to such an extent that a good nights sleep was out of the question.

Customer service. I needed to ask for a room change and they dealt with my reuest with ease. Staff were all friendly and welcoming. I was located a shabby, tiny room, because I was a single guest. I needed a relaxing retreat and this was not going to be it. Why would a hotel give out horrible rooms when there are nicer ones available? A new Customer needs to be impressed in order to come again. Surely this is not rocket science?

This was a lovely friendly hotel. The staff couldn't have been nicer and more helpful. This made a huge difference to our stay and to the overall atmosphere of the hotel. It was very relaxed. The breakfasts were good and the bedrooms were clean and very fit for purpose but it was the attitude and welcome of the staff that made the difference - and one of the prime reasons aside from location that would encourage us to return.

It came up to my expectations. Modernising an older hotel has its limitations. The main problem was with the heating. I do not appreciate rattling thermostatic valves in the night. Once the problem was appreciatd we turned thet heating off.

The real fire in the cozy lounge We were a bit disappointed with the room did't live up to your website we felt we were in the old servants rooms and we did't expect a hotel of your standard to have bare bed bases that is the first sight as you walk in the door a bit of a let down

Good location. Great breakfast. Good facilities. Friendly staff. Plumbing and hot water excellent - fairly unusual for old hotel. A bit creaky at night due to old floor boards.9.30am a bit early to finish breakfast during the week.

Hotel was unique, amazing original furniture, attentive, helpful and happy staff. Breakfasts were good. Would stay again. Some of the hotel decor was tired and needed a bit of tlc, but this did not detract from the great service we received from the hotel staff.

Great location, good value, good car park.Refund for breakfast which we were unable to sample due to our early departure. The road is noisy if your room is in the front of the Hotel.

Location in a very picturesque town, sense of history that could be developed more fully, friendly helpful staff, excellent cuisine, ease of parking, comfortable bed was just what my poor old aching bones needed after a long drive. The food and service at a family lunch celebration was excellent. - As usual as a single traveller I was lodged at the furthest point away from reception and over the kitchen. Unfortunately I was kept awake by raucous music and noise until midnight and then awoken at 6.30am to an out of kilter tunbler drier that sounded like an aeroplane taking off. Only discovered drink making euipment and hair drier hidden away in wardrobe when I was packing to leave it would probably be a good idea when a room is booked to actually put them out on display. A mirror over the desk would suit female guests especially if like me they have joint problems and need to sit down to apply make up.

Centrally located in Lyndhurst with easy access to New Forest. A warm & friendly hotel with period features and creaking floors. I booked the Superior double but was given a standard - this was quickly sorted after I complaned. Being in the centre of a traffic through route the fumes were quite noticeable on stepping out. The cooked breakfast was quite dissapointing having been previously cooked and kept warm. The sausages and bacon were dry, the fried bread rock hard and the scrambled eggs tastless & appeared processed. The plates should have a health warning as if it were dark they would have glowed. Not particularly good value @ £10.
