My wife and I stayed for two nights and at check in were given a free upgrade to a superior room which I have to say was excelent. The room was very pleasant, comfortable and with no problems from external or other guests noises. The bathroom was great (built in television) and I would have taken it home if it had fitted in the suitcase. Staff throughout all departments were pleasant, helpfull and well presented. We had breakfast and evening meal one night which we enjoyed. Overall, a very pleasant stay and I wouldn`t hesitate to both return and recommend to others.

The bedrooms had been refurbished to a good standard and were very clean. I prime reason I booked the Crown Spa was it had a pool. The weather forecast was poor and I needed a fall-back having a 19 month old baby. You can imagine my feelings as the hotel advised that the pool was unavailable for children between the hours of 10.30 and 15.30. Although I had booked a double room with a cot I was advised that I had to pay a further £15 per night as the standard double room could not accommodate a cot. The room I was allocated was on the second floor ... (lifts were available) ... however we had to descend a flight of 10 stairs to access our room. Very useful when we need to pushchair for our baby son. The food in the restaurant was poor. There was no Duty Manager available until 14.30 on the Saturday (even though the hotel was full) and he (together with most of the staff) were generally unhelpful. This is not a family hotel. I plan to attempt to secure compensation for the above - from Booking.com and/or The Crown Spa Hotel. The staff were in the main unhelpful.

A lovely location on the cliff top, easy on street parking and easy access to North/South Bays and wonderful cliff walks. Staff very welcoming and friendly, Good choice of food in restaurant, good service and quality to. Large and comfortable room, bathroom very well equipped and loved those coloured LED's in the bathroom to create a relaxed mood Overall a really good standard of hotel and thus good value compared to many in UK. Would certainly recommend it and well done to them all.

Upgrade much appreciated. Scenic Views. Convenience for Esplanade and town. Spa facilities. Music much too loud. Lack of quiet area for relaxation. Breakfast dining service very poor. Sunday paper not found - presumably stolen by another guest from outside our door.

The Crown Spa is a good hotel with very welcoming, friendly staff, great rooms, good gym and pool, and a great location. On the downside, the floorboards do creak, it can be a little difficult to find a parking space, and the cost of breakfast is far too high, but the positives far outweigh the negatives and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend the hotel.

Friendly, professional staff. High quality spa facilities. Superb food. Excellent sea views/location but not suitable for the unfit! Despite turning off the radiator and keeping window open the room was very hot. The double bed was two singles pushed together and unfortunately one side was much lower and worn out. Poor quality toilet paper-definitely did not reflect a 4 star standard hotel

A very bright modern hotel with very friendly efficient staff. The location is perfect for all areas of Scarborough although clients with walking difficulties may have problems due to the many steps/ slopes in the area. The bedrooms are spacious with queen size beds plenty of drawer and hanging space and large bathrooms. Although we booked room only we had previously stayed at the hotel and can vouch for the quality of the food on offer either as a bar snack or in the restaurant. The hotel has also an excellent leisure/ spa centre with pampering available to suit all. We will definately be returning in the future.

Very clean, good bathroom. Superb location No mini bar. Attitude of bar staff could be terrible, good reception and waiting staff. Decor of room not up to scratch for £150+ per night- beige painted walls and dirty White floral curtains, certainly no money spent on interior designers here!

All the staffe were extremely helpfull, courteous, and couldn't do enough for you. Our room looked out at a wall within 2 feet , with air conditioning pipework attached. A drain pumped out every 15 minutes and made such a noise that having the window open was virtually impossible.

It was very clean and modern. The beds were comfy and it had plenty of facilities. It was nearly perfect. The bath had no hand rail and the bath had no anti slip base. I experienced a nasty fall out of the bath and was in pain all weekend. The tea and coffee facilities in the room were terrible, it tasted like washing up liquid

Friendly staff and handy location for town, beach and theatre. Spa was dated and pool too small for amount of people using it. Room temperature was cool, especially as bathroom radiator wasn't working and although reported was not fixed. Cooked breakfast was poor, obviously not fresh and just reheated, very rubbery eggs.

“It is a wonderful building with a rich history, the price was spot on, I took my mother with me and as she is 84 I politely pointed this out and requested a sea view for her, we were both given Premier rooms with big windows superb views, I would recommend room 34, level -2. The staff were very good and the buffet breakfast brilliant, my mother enjoyed her first cooked breakfast for 15 years, bless her. A big thank you to all at The Grand Scarborough” Paul, Boston Spa |
