The Crown Hotel  

Nothing it was awful, I would rather sleep in a tent on the floor than stay at this hotel again. It really was very dissapointing and I would advise that you take it off your website as it is a bad refelction on booking.com

It was not clean, the bed was lumpy and the room was very hot and the windows only opened about an inch. The decor was very tired and the bathroom was disgusting. It was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in and I wouldnt stay in it again if you paid me!

Very handy for the location I needed to be ln and at the right price, l would stay at the crown hotel again.

Just found the bed mattress a little too soft for my liking, this is not a complaint,as I am a big fella.

The rooms were clean

There was no hot water on Saturday morning in the bathroom. We had to boil water in a kettle in order to have a bath, because we had a wedding to attend. The boiler was fixed afterwards.

For the price this hotel is excellent. Very good staff - Sue (reception/general manager) especially helpful. Convenient for bus/train to Stoke centre

Staff were very accommodating and friendly, nice atmosphere in communal areas. Fair prices on food and drinks. Close to local shopping points and a short taxi away from town centre. But cannot praise the staff enough!! Very nice to see people happy in their work and be so friendly.

Room although clean did have some decoration / handy work that could be done to improve it, pillows were quite thin and did feel the springs in the bed but did have a good night sleep. There was a rail line along side but did not seem to notice any persistent noise from it.

The reception staff were rude! I booked 3 weeks in advance and when i got there they told me i did not have a booking!! I really would not reccomend this hotel

The staff varied, there was no one at the desk when we arrived & we had to wait a while, however he was polite enough when he arrived. The lady on the desk later was very helpful & rang a taxi for us when we asked. The hotel was cheap & the room & bathroom were clean & tidy, albeit a little 'tired'.

You get what you pay for. Old & tired but clean & tidy. I would recommend the hotel to someone who just wants a cheap bed for the night.

That the hotel accepts dogs was the main reason for the stay and that it was convenient for visiting my daughter at university. The very good price was the next. Our room was basic, but we didn't need anymore than that. It had been freshly painted and was generally very clean as were the towels/sheets etc. We liked the detailing of the original features in the reception/stairs etc Most staff we met were friendly and helpful, one even giving us a brief history of the hotel. (They should make more of this) That we didn't have to pay for breakfast, unless we wanted it was good as we were unable to use this facility, because of the dog. The small park area right next to the hotel was very convienient for exersising the dog especially first thing in the morning! The hotels own directions were excellent, they were easy to follow and took us straight to the car park.

If dogs were allowed in any of the bar/restaurant areas we would almost certainly have eaten at the hotel. Some staff were obviously not comfortable with the dog, that's ok in itself, (not everyone has to be dog crazy). But as a result we were given conflicting information. We were told in no uncertain terms by one person that only one small dog was allowed per room, because it wasn't fair to those guests who didn't like dogs. The next day another member of staff was talking about someone bringing 3 dogs with them and that there was no restriction on size that they were aware of. The only issue with the room, was that someone had obviously been smoking in the bathroom at some point - (the shower curtain stank of stale smoke) and the extractor fan wasn't particularly efficient Some form of hotel information would be helpful. A leaflet either in the room or available at reception showing what the hotel offers, what is/isn't allowed, a copy of the menu etc.

The only good thing about the room was the tv, but for the price carnt complain it was a bed for the night.

Definately needs a refurb.

The hotel was very untidy but for the the price I did expect this and would reccomend it to anyone on a budget. The hotel staff was really good and friendly and like to hva e a laught, sometiomes I felt they needed to tend to the customers need and not was the manager thought we wanted. A new paint job and attention to detail and this hotel could be alot better and even become a 3 star not it two it has now. The bar toilets were very bad and very unclean. thank you for a good stay
