The location in the farmland was beautiful. Walks in the green fields with many sheep and cows. The accommodation was comfortable, good bed, quiet, sunny sitting room looking out over the hills. Walks on the coast are easily accessible and there are a number of good restaurants in Castle Douglas. We appreciated the hospitality of Irene, who was taking care of the guests.

The only positive thing you can say about Castle Douglas is that it is a convenient place from which you can travel and explore Dumfries and Galloway.
I spent one day watching the red kites feeding at Bellymack Hill Farm, and the day I left I took the opportunity to travel to the Mull of Galloway because I was relatively close to it.
Don't plan to stay in Castle Douglas in order to explore the town itself, there is nothing to see.

A lovely little town with plenty of shops which appealed to the wife. The natives were friendly and we enjoyed the banter. For the fellows don't miss the brewery at the bottom of town, Great tap, some great beers. Came home within lots of meat from each of the butchers shops.

Castle Douglas is a favourite place where we spend some time on any trip which demands a stop off to take advantage of the independent retail stores. We know staff are friendly and cheerful, don't hassle customers and always give a warm welcome.
After some shopping there is quite a number of places to stop for coffee and cake or even a more substantial meal.

Castle Douglas is a very nice little town, with many nice old shops. A great place for a day away.
The town is very clean and the people are friendly
It is in the right location for travelling around SW Scotland and seeing what is there
This was a lovely, well equipped little house. It had a microwave/grill, air fryer, toaster, kettle and fridge. Plenty for a weekend trip. The layout was great with the bedroom upstairs and location was great being 10mins away from castle Douglas. Bathroom area was a perfect size too! We loved the hot tub being included. Beautiful views as soon as you look out the windows. The local pub needs to be visited, staff were lovely and so was the food. Well worth the money.
The cottage is nestled down beside an old bridge over the Dee and has a lovely garden that overlooks the river. The hosts ensure you a warm welcome and tea and scones were offered on arrival.
Breakfast is definitely 5 star and is served in the warm conservatory overlooking the garden.
There are lovely walks by the river and you can go to Kirkcudbright or Castle Douglas for a pleasant evening meal. Both locations are within a 20min drive.
Enjoyed a two night stay at Airds Farm Guest House. Received a very warm welcome from the Lindsey the owner and Cruise the puppy upon arrival. Room very clean and comfortable with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. Excellent location for walking and exploring the local area, close to Castle Douglas and Loch Ken. Delicious breakfast served with a variety of choice. I would highly recommend Airds Farm Guest House.

Only 4 miles from Castle Douglas. Lovely tranquil spot ideal for relaxing and recharging your batteries. Beautiful house with everything you need
In situ, and an enclosed play park if you have children with you, also a private area with your own hot tub. The owner has thought of everything to make your stay pleasurable including a welcome box and lovely cakes.
- the staff were fantastic and obviously care about the community and visitors. locals in the pubs below were great people to talk to as well. breakfast was accommodating and delicious. we all really enjoyed our time in Castle Douglas. Rooms aren’t exactly modern, but I don’t think that should be a problem for anyone, accommodations are more than adequate.
Stunning location on the edge of Galloway Forest Park, with incredible wildlife to be seen just in the garden (countless birds, rabbits, even a fox!). Great base for exploring the surrounding hills, coastline and towns. Rachael and Matt were super friendly and gave us a little tour of the area around the house when we arrived. Would love to go back!
We had a wonderful welcome from Gillian and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in her spacious, comfortable, all-amenities flat. Location was also perfect for everything the town had to offer, especially Gillian's InHouse cafe and chocolate factory downstairs.
Location is very handy to all amenities ,the staff were extremely pleasant and very helpful.food was excellent.would recommend anyone to experience the friendly atmosphere of the hotel.the locals were very charming as well.
Very warm and friendly welcome from owner. Nothing too much trouble, incredibly knowledgeable and helpful.
Convenient location close to Castle Douglas
Room comfortable and a good size
Delicious breakfast and evening meal.
Friendly, helpful owner. Well maintained, nice room and en-suite. Breakfast room was lovely, excellent breakfast. Although I know the area quite well, this was my first stay in Castle Douglas which I really enjoyed.
Made to feel inferior by waitress who said our room option meant we could not choose from residents breakfast menu despite my argument that, like everyone around us in the restaurant, we are still hotel residents!!
The owner is passionate about wildlife and really interesting to talk to. If you want a no-frills, quiet, youth-hostel vibe this might suit you. Right beside Threave gardens about a mile from Castle Douglas.
Great location, good breakfast and an excellent dinner. Big room with comfortable bed, nice bathroom with great shower. Very interesting and historic place to stay, close to Dalbeattie, Castle Douglas, etc.
We liked the location of the hotel, staff were very friendly and couldn't be more helpful. The food was delicious and fresh. There was a nice atmosphere in the hotel.
The hotel is well located in Castle Douglas, the room was basic, but very clean and comfortable. The staff were extremely friendly and breakfast was excellent.
