Location and car parking were excellent. Room was spacious and clean. Bathroom was good.
Staff seemed to be all foreign and were not overly friendly.
Great value, friendly helpful staff, good sleep and great breakfast
Shower pressure was poor
Car park was tight.
Friendliness. Fine breakfast.
Could be more clean with better breakfast
Clean, cozy rooms. With one exception the staff was very friendly and helpful, and some went out of their way to be of assistance. Breakfast room charming and the food was pretty good.
Shower head wasn't great. Ran out of hot water at one point.
Very nice room with okay breakfast. Small parking space in frontyard.
We couldn't open the window in our room.
Ceiling in bedroom damp..towels staff .
the vegetarian option for the cooked breakfast, the fact that it was on offer and a lovely change, the room was spacious and comfortable and clean, staff were friendly, well worth the money
nothing comes to mind
Easy walk to city centre,. Efficient staff. Room was very clean, small but well organised and quiet as it was at the back of the hotel. We had a very enjoyable stay at the Cumberland.
No wifi access in rooms. We like to have a window open at night for fresh air. We were at the back of the hotel so in a quiet room but had to close the window to sleep as there were no security screens.
Location, breakfast, quiet, very clean.
No milk on table at breakfast, one radiator not working in family room.
Great rooms. Fantastic hotel in a renovated building. Rooms retained their character. Family room was well done and comfortable. Staff was very polite and helpful. Breakfast was delicious.
Sitting with people from many other rooms in the awkward lounge so we could get wifi. There is a charge to access a wired connection in the room. However, I was traveling with my wife and 3 teenage children. Guess how many connections we needed? All they need is another wifi router or two to solve this problem. Yes! Your customers want WIFI! Less than $200 US.
Distance from the centre of town, bus stop right outside with regular busses to centre. The staff were polite and approachable. Rooms clean and fresh towels everyday. It was very quiet, even though breakfast was busy but plenty of space, it was usually quiet of a night time.
The breakfast was a bit hit and miss on occasion. With cooked breakfast it was great, however the vegetarian and continental options were a bit peculiar. Did not always have enough if you asked for a later breakfast.
Television not working properly by remote or buttons on top. One table lamp had broken bulb No clock radio Paint splashed onto door rail Lamp shades need replacing
The location only
Everything. Very poor serivce.
Comfortable Quiet at night big room
Wifi not in the room, only in public areas Breakfast at such ridiculously early time in the morning that we skipped it
The price...It was double what you would expect to pay for this standard of hotel in other cities..... Bearing in mind it was almost 2 miles from the centre. Also, no food was available prior to 7pm
Staff helpful and pleasant...room spacious and quiet...really enjoyed our stay.
Nohing to dislike...:))
Small room Shower door not closing Nowhere to hang towels Linen closet outside door Breakfast menu items not available Noisy room Amenities poor
Generally clean and tidy, and run by pleasant people.
The breakfast , while fairly well cooked, was partly spoiled on the first morning, by some badly behaved children who were left by their parents and the staff, to roam at will by their parents and the staff.
Men receptionists really try hard to make everything ok for guests. They were helpful and nice. Location is very good - easy access to the airport and to the city centre by walk as well. Nice variety of food for breakfast but it is really uncomfortable to book a time for it in advance!!
The room was booked as a classic double room, but when I made a payment, the confirmation said it was maximum for 1 person!! The hotel promised that it will make an upgrade for a double room for 40 pounds but when we came it was the smallest room I have ever seen! I specifically asked for a quiet room but we received the room directly at the reception next to the main entrance! After complaining we were moved to the other room which had windows to the street so was not quiet at all but at least we were able to move inside. I dont believe the beds are doubles - max. 1.5. There were no shelves in the bathroom not even cup for toothbrushes but you can live with that. Unfortunately we had to move to the room at the reception for the last night. It should be illegal to sell this room to anybody!! The bed and remote control was broken, TV half broken, we could hardly move in the bathroom. The room is extremely noisy because of the main entrance, reception, bar and kitchen. The windows are old in the whole building and you feel like you have them opened all the time. If you wanted to open or close the doors, you had to push quite hard cause otherwise they did not move. The internet does state it is free wifi in the public places but it just kept dropping out all the time. Except of the location, the hotel was a let down and I most definitely wouldn't recommend it or stay there again.
Turned away by the staff and made to sit in the car in the car park till 3pm.very poor hotel for the price they charged
Location was good within easy reach of city centre and for us it was the perfect location, we visited both the Tattoo and Edinburgh Zoo.
A fairly comfortable hotel in a reasonable location but with drawbacks. With the exception of a young Rumanian man who was very friendly, efficient and helpful, the other members of staff were not particularly friendly and the younger ones did not appear to know what they had to do. (Perhaps trainees?) The ‘Restaurant’ only provides snacks/light meals with little choice. The decor of the lounge isn’t very inviting. We were in room 14. The loud creaking of floor boards above us, the noise from the bar and cooking smells from the kitchen made us thankful that we did not spend a lot of time in our room.
It's location closw to the city.
The room was smelly! Its a hotel that could be good but just misses the mark. Some of the staff were most helpful but others indifferent.
