Nothing was too much trouble ,the owners went out of their way to make you feel comfortable . It was like staying with friends rather than a b&b. accommodation great, food very good , very clean . 1st class would recommend to anyone who wanted to stay somewhere special Great location for touring if in the area again would stay there.
The weather was as you would expect in February in Cumbria , the owners couldn't do anything about that !
Great hosts, fantastic standards
Lovely warm and comfortable and brilliant fruit salad.
Extremely warm welcome from George and Joan. Impeccable room and facilities. Extremely comfortable super king-sized bed. Delicious freshly cooked breakfast with a wide choice. Lovely panoramic views.
No signpost to direct you past the stable complex towards the main house - particularly difficult in the dark!
When we arrived at the Cumberland Lodge, I knew i'd booked the right place. It was in a picturesque setting with stables and views to die for. We were welcomed by George the owner with open arms. Though this is his family home, it's immaculate. The rooms are perfect, ours had a jacuzzi! Breakfast was brilliant. It set us up for the day and was cooked with locally sourced ingredients. Everything is lovely and if i'm in the area again, i'll be going back. 100%
The views from our window. The overall style of the lodge, very grand. Staff were great very helpful and friendly. Our room was superb.
Very imposing building
Only one handy restaurant for evening meal, though I was given good directions to a good place a few miles away
We could not believe it when we drove up to the lodge. It was a true delight to stay in this executive mansion. We loved everything from the welcome we received, the beautiful rooms, the views, the breakfast. It was a real treat.
The welcome was warm and genuine. Nothing was too much trouble. We were upgraded to a suite which was a nice surprise and it was all so modern and spotlessly clean. The bathroom was huge and had a jacuzzi bath and waterjets in the shower. The views from the back were of the fells in the distance and it was in a very peaceful location. A nice pub serving good food was 5 minutes' walk away or across the road another choice of eating out in a hotel. George and Joan were perfect hosts and we would not hesitate to book up here if visiting the area again.
When your sat nav says you have arrived you are at a pair of wrought iron gates and you look down the drive at a mini stately home with stables set in it's own grounds. The drive down to the house convinces you more that you are wrong. A knock on the door and I was greeted like a long lost 'son' As I went unto the room I was offered a cup of tea or coffee, to be brought up. Into the room and what a room the bed was as big as some rooms you find, there was remote everything an excellent on suite which I think is always a sign of good accommodation . I slept soundly that night had a hearty breakfast freshly cooked and sadly was on my way. I think my partner and I will return for a weekend break soon.
There is nothing to not like
Absolutely stunning location..stunning accommodation. .and George the owner could not have been nicer..absolute diamond of a man..made an already amazing place even better..fantastic food aswell....already planning our next visit x
Could not be faulted at all
George and Joan could not have worked any harder to make my stay in their superb family home welcoming and extremely comfortable
George and Joan. Welcome. Comfort. Views.
What's not to like
Beautiful room and facilities-but by far the best thing were the owners. I asked George about getting a taxi down to the venue where I was going that night and he offered to take me down to town and collect me later-which he did! Amazing friendliness.
I loved the place and would certainly use it again if I am in that area. I can't find a thing to criticize except that I could have done with a sign to point out the B& B as I got confused as to which building it was when I came into the complex of buildings.
Beautiful property, very clean, exceptional outlook from bedroom window, very friendly and helpful hosts, delicious breakfast
Fantastic mansion with great hospitality. I was treated like a queen! Sarah Liverpool
Excellent people running this B & B Exceptional house and fantastic views and a very comfortable bed. We would have been very happy to stay longer !
it was just a really nice place to stay good views, room was superb but you do need a car to get about, would definitely go back there.
everything was great
Beautiful house in idyllic setting.Warm friendly welcome , accommodation first class, food excellent. Highly recommended
Nothing to dislike
Nice clean new house
Stairs to lug cases up
Everything was perfect, including the extra transport services (e.g. to the train station) proposed by the owners - for free, of course.
Host were very welcoming, fantastic place and very relaxing. Will definately stay there again on my return to the area.
Our stay at Cumberland Lodge was great in every way! George and Jean are wonderful hosts and they were really helpful. The Lodge is very comfortable. The location gives good access to the coast as well as the mountains and lakes. I highly recommend it.
having to pay on arrival . thinking I had paid by credit card when I booked
