Good Breakfast 24 hours reception Ample free parking
Noisy busy road all night outside room all night-lots of lorries and trucks!
Ample parking and location of the hotel.
The showers were awful and had to wait for the water to warm up, also the pressure was the worst I have had in any hotel that I have ever stayed in. I should also have looked closer when booking, as I thought breakfast was included in the price.
Friendly staff, good parking. Fairly central location could walk to city centre.
Bedside lamps not working. Bathroom needs updating, shower very poor. Mould round bath. No bathmat. Only a shower gel / shampoo in fixed position over bath , no other complimentary toiletries. Very noisy room.
Within 10mins walking from the Sands Centre.really enjoyed the 3 course meal, Staff very pleasant and helpfull and we'll use this hotel again.
Good and central for city.
Lack of individual toiletries, no bath mat, lack of air conditioner. As we travel a lot these thing are important to us.
Quaint room, value for money
Rude receptionist in the morning who tried to charge a late check out fee of 20 quid at 11am. Check out at 10.30am at weekend is ridiculous. Room key light in through ceiling window, woke numerous times from 5am.
good privately owned hotel with a good car park . breakfast was excellent .
single room was small .
price staff are ok not ideal location but near the pubs and chippy
no bath mats showers are rubbish food was ok (not cheap) beds too small. beds need top sheets otherwise you wake up and find the duvet on the floor. no wifi in rooms
The bed was the best bed it was the comfiest we have slept in
Unfortunately, very little. Young staff pleasant when serving.
A reported toilet that didn't flush and three requests for a light bulb to be replaced. Neither dealt with. A room above the downstairs toilets with the noise of patrons flushing toilets and hand blower noise. All noise from downstairs and people going to their rooms and smokers area below. Dirty and stained cups. Stained towels and a threat if you were to mark their towels you could be charged. Despite advertising free wi-fi, it didn't function in the room and mostly dropped out in the general area. Also turned off at night, not helpful to travellers from a different time zone.
Friendly staff nice surrounds close to city good accommodation
For a business that is primarily into the hospitality trade I did not find the management either helpful or hospitable. My wife and I had travelled all night by plane arriving in London Gatwick Airport at 03.00 on Friday morning and then immediately drove through the night nearly 400 miles because we had to attend a function in Carlisle that evening, arriving at the Hotel at 11.00. We had previously when making our booking with booking.com and because of our special circumstances requested earlier access to our room so that we could get some rest before the evening. My wife and I are both in our late 70's. On arrival we were told that (1) we should have contacted the hotel direct and not used booking.com box for special requests. (2) the rooms are not available until 14.00 and we would have to wait until then unless we were prepared to pay another £35.00 for an upgrade room and early access charge. Not very helpful or hospitable !!!
Location and ambience was good. No strong wifi in room as expected but there was a computer you could use if you could get to it. Good parking
Noise and do with updating. Linen smelt damp as did the room. No Wifi in room, had to go into the bar/lounge area
Great location, just a hop from the City Centre. Homely and quirky.
Breakfast disappointing on this trip. Not hot and waited for fresh supply.
Small depressing room
Bedrooms were nice and clean. Lounge/bar area was very good. Breakfast was excellent.
Thought price was a little dear. Would have liked breakfast plates etc to be cleared quicker.
We loved the position of the hotel. Staff were very helpful. Very comfy beds good nights sleep. Food was excellent from the generous breakfast to the lovely evening meals.
The staff need more communication with each department to ensure they know whats going on each day.
The bed was the worst ever. You would find better in a hostel and the bedroom furniture was ancient and rickety. Way over rated. Will not stay there again and would definitely not recommend it to anyone. There are much better B&B's close by. Very very disappointed.
Staff were helpful
The food, especially the evening meal. The hotel had a coach party and a wedding party in the same evening - no excuse for the poor quality of food served to other guests!!!
Disappointing breakfast - cooked food had been standing for too long.
Although the menu wasn't especially varied or inventive the food we ordered was nice - the lamb was especially tender and tasty, some of the tastiest I've had in ages.
As per the title - the rooms in the photos look nice, but ours was outdated and tired, especially in the bathroom. Not what we expected at all and made us very disappointed. One staff member was very lovely and helpful - but some others we met didn't come across very well. One gentleman in particular left us with a very bad impression whilst he was focussed on dealing with a coach party. Noise in the hallways carries and comes under the door - we were subjected to quite a bit of drunken cackling and coughing when we were trying to sleep, at much louder volumes than it could've been which better sound insulation. Really short on plug sockets.
