Score from 240 reviews Wonderful
Efficient, helpful staff. Beautifully clean rooms etc. Plentiful supply of lovely hot water. A stunning position and views.
A little cool in some areas of lounge. Would have liked some more coffee in bedroom.
That it was still quite a vintage looking hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Slightly hidden away location. Could make more of the gardens and wildlife - put up some bird feeders.
Wi-fi in rooms would be a bonus. Breakfast coffee was pretty terrible. Please some de-caff coffee sachets in room and non-caffeine tea - green or mint, something like that.
Entertainment left a bit to be desired
Hospitality view location
Good. Location with magnificent view
Hotel in need of updating although re furbishment was in process. Bed small and uncomfortable.
Excellent breakfast with a very good selection. Very good service. Nice big corridoors, and re-furbished rooms. A sense of elegance in a Victorian hotel.
Good friendly staff Bedroom clean and comfortable bed
Waitress in dining room very poor English. The whole hotel needs a total redecoration. Looks old tired and dated now.
The view was wonderful from our bedroom the location is spot on have been a few times now I will be back there again soon.
The bed was a bit uncomfortable and the breakfast wasn't up to much most of the food was cold and the toast was always cold other than that ok.
Location was good so was the staff and the restaurant
The heating in the room did not work.
Receptoonist was extremely helpful and friendly. Bed was comfortable
Pillows were flat. Bedroom very old and in need of renovation Room was heated by central heating so couldn't control temperature Ran out of breakfast items and they didn't make any more so we missed out on black pudding, fried eggs and my husband got bacon but I didnt.
The location was great ,the food was very good ,will stay here again
Efficiency, courtesy and helpfulness of all staff.
Absolutely nothing - all great!
The location is easy to get to from the M6. Rooms are spacious and have all the facilities that are needed. the decor is past its best but not in a bad way. This hotel is great value for money and is keeping prices reasonable by not spending on renovations. The food was good and breakfast comprehensive.
There are a lot of great local draft ales that are far better than the beers stocked. If you want a real beer then go elsewhere.
View from room wasnt one
Friendliness of the staff. Excellent quality of catering (Gluten excepted.
Some problems with Gluten Free diet. One of the lifts not working too well.
Cumbria grand hotel is set in lovely well managed grounds the rooms are spacious and very clean and comfortable within walking distance to the centre of Grange over sands would stay there again.
There was nothing that we did not like
Nice hotel. Very nice dining room
staff were very friendly, food was excellent. very clean too. room was good with a sea view and plenty of room.
not enough lifts and very small, could only just fit my husbands wheelchair in,for the size of the hotel there should be more.
The family room was large, with a nice enough ensuite. The town itself has a few eating places and boutique stores, including a lovely bakery. Convenient location for ventures into the Lake District.
Family room floor creaked tremendously - not good for sleeping baby. Double bed (not good for 6 foot plus sleepers) VERY Limited access to wi-fi. No mini-fridge in room (though hotel staff will keep food for you)
The Staff The location The bar meals The breakfasts The rooms with balcony and great views
As you descend the stairs to the games room, lower bar and ballroom there is an overpowering smell of damp. No other moans.... we'll be back!
breakfast was good and wasn't expecting room to be cleaned as we were only there 2 days
very very poor wifi connection in the designated areas of the hotel that were supposed to be usable space... lift was comically slow and please please please oil the beds. The sound of squeaking beds from next door was quite off putting as we tried to watch early evening tv .
Staff were polite and smart. We had two meals in the bar\lounge which were very nice and good value. There was plenty of seating in here too if you wanted somewhere quiet. The grounds looked quite nice but we couldn't explore them more due to it pouring down for most of our visit.
On first impressions the hotel looked old and not that inviting. It seemed to be very tired and a lot of the areas we saw needed decoration and brightening up. Our room did have a view of the bay which I did pay more for, but the room itself was very gloomy, needed lots of updating and decoration doing to it, the pillows were rubbish and it wasn't that clean. Overall we were disappointed with our visit apart from what I've already highlighted above. I'm afraid we will not be returning.
the time we spend in the hotel was enjoyable. The staff were very friendly, helpful. The room was nice and big and separate room for our child in which the tv was a great hit. The playground area was nice. The breakfast was very nice and we would love to return some day again.
I had numerous issues regarding my travel plans to get to Grange over sands. As a result I arrived very late at night. Thge staff waited for me and made sure that every need was taken care of including provioding a cup of tea and chat to make me calm down after a rough day and to help me feel welcomed. They were in essence fabulous!!
